We formulate RSA-DPP as an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) problem. Since RSA is a difficult problem, we propose an Adaptive Frequency Assignment with Dedicated Path Protection (AFA-DPP) heuristic algorithm to provide near-optimal solutions to the problem. We investigate the efficiency of AFA-DPP for a set of network scenarios. Evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other reference algorithms.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131761496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dynamic adaptation of TDD configuration may result in opposite transmission directions in the neighboring cells and thus cause BS-BS and UE-UE inter-cell interference that may significantly affect the overall system performance. To avoid this problem all homogeneous Macro cell TDD deployments typically operate synchronously. However in heterogeneous networks low power small cells are rather isolated from each other in terms of mutual interference and thus can be considered as candidates for dynamic TDD adaptation. In this paper we investigate the possibility of using dynamic adjustments of TDD UL-DL configurations in application to outdoor Pico cell deployments. In particular, we show the feasibility of using opposite DL and UL transmission directions in neighboring Pico cells in terms of interference environment. Furthermore we evaluate the performance benefits from traffic adaptation in LTE TDD networks where cells can dynamically select TDD configuration and show that substantial gains in packet throughput performance may be achieved comparing to the traditional synchronous TDD networks.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116875008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, the most preferred method for this matter is the Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) method. In this paper, different techniques for enhancing the TDOA results are introduced. They generally give an idea about the challenges of TDOA. We analyze different ways of using consecutive measurements as well as redundant sensors. We do that focusing on one specific algorithm using TDOA measurements, the residual weighting algorithm (RWA). Its main advantages lie in the low computational complexity and the fact that it doesn't require additional a priori information. We analyze the performance of the algorithm through simulation of different scenarios and present the most preferable application. We show what kind of additional averaging could be used to enhance the results.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125282135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main objective of the SUs is to achieve their QoS by exploiting the unused spectrum while the PUs aim to get high profit by leasing their unused spectrum. Pricing and transmission power are two key issues of interest to PUs and SUs as well. In this paper, we propose a power pricing model wherein the PUs attain some revenue by renting their unused frequency to SUs that use suitable power levels to transmit which do not interfere with other users in the network. In our proposed model the SUs coexist with PUs in the same network where they can transmit over the same channel simultaneously. Performance evaluation of the proposed model demonstrates that the scheme helps in using the frequency spectrum more efficiently and increasing the gained profit of the PUs in comparison with the other existing models.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121871090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are many different types of dates, each with different features. Sorting of dates is a key process in the date industry, and can be a tedious job. In this paper, we present a method for automatic classification of date fruits based on computer vision and pattern recognition. The method was implemented, and empirically tested on an image data spanning seven different categories of dates. In our method, an appropriately crafted mixture of fifteen different visual features was extracted, and then, multiple methods of classification were tried out, until satisfactory performance was achieved. This work conducts an analysis of the vulnerability of five core telecommunication networks subject to different epidemic attacks. The difference between the attacks relies on the method used to select the initial set of infected nodes. As a novelty, the investigation is focused on the initial stage of the epidemics (first 48 hours). The analysis is carried out taking into account the topological connectivity of the networks. Results are presented in two phases. The first one concerns the first 24 hours of the epidemics evolution and shows the reaction of core networks to different types of epidemic attacks. The second one is focused on the time frame between 24 and 48 hours and presents a study of the repairing times needed to eradicate the epidemics. Results show that the core telecommunication networks react differently depending on the type of epidemics. Thus, different repairing times need to be applied in order to maintain a specific level of connectivity of the networks.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"221 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115280040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, as our society becomes more and more dependent on it, these structures turn into vital targets for Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. As so-called botnets offer an inexpensive way to generate almost arbitrary amounts of traffic, the only effective measure that can be taken by overlay mechanisms is adapting the topology for minimal impact. This article presents novel metrics to estimate the impact of DoS attacks with different strengths. In particular random, greedy, and optimal attacks are considered, whereas for the optimal attacker we show that it involves NP-hard calculations. Based on the attacker models, several prerequisites for resilient overlay topologies, like a low constant node degree and high girth, are derived and validated by a simulation study.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124729327","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
