This study was carried out in the Rif (North of Morocco), it aimed to identify medicinal and aromatic plant used by the local people to treat digestive system diseases, together with the associated ethnomedicinal knowledge. Methods: The ethnomedical information collected was from 732 traditional healers using semi-structured interviews, free listing and focus group. Family use value (FUV), use value (UV), plant part value (PPV), fidelity level (FL) and Informant Agreement Ratio (IAR) were employed in data analysis. Medicinal and aromatic plant were collected, identified and kept at the natural resources and biodiversity laboratory, Ibn Tofail University, Kenitra. Results: During the present study 87 medicinal plant species belonging to 43 families has been documented. The most frequent ailments reported were gastric ulcers (IAR = 0.97). The majority of the remedies were prepared from decoction (42.12%). Leaves were the most frequently used plant part (PPV = 0.344) and Thymus saturejoides Coss. (UV = 0.240) was the specie most commonly prescribed by local herbalists. Conclusions: The results of this study showed that people living in the Rif of Morocco are still dependent on medicinal and aromatic plants. The documented plants can serve as a basis for further studies on the regions medicinal plants knowledge and for future phytochemical and pharmacological studies.","PeriodicalId":337320,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of MOL2NET 2019, International Conference on Multidisciplinary Sciences, 5th edition","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128673941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"IoT and Face Recognition based Remote Access System","authors":"Amey Bairolu, Sanjukta Sheth, Binay Hazra, Arpit Rawankar","doi":"10.3390/mol2net-05-06454","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3390/mol2net-05-06454","url":null,"abstract":"— There are many security systems available in the market and in thesis, which are stringent and can make things worse in the hour of need as there are many situations which demand customized authentication. These systems either require the visitors to provide details of authenticity, for instance, ID cards, passwords, etc. or require someone to explicitly be near the entrance to manually check the details. There are even some existing security systems which become cumbersome for the owners by seeking permission time and again even when the visitor is a frequent one. This paper, therefore is focused on providing a smart solution, without compromising security, by employing a system which will not only grant access to authorized visitors, but will also allow some expected visitors to walk through the doors and restrict the rest even when there is no one physically present near the entrance or anywhere near the concerned area to manually check on the visitors. This system will therefore solicit permission from the owner only when the visitor is unknown. This remote access system therefore uses face recognition, which is a biometric artificial intelligence based technology, and Internet of Things (IoT) to give access to the known visitors when it recognizes them successfully or to give access to the expected visitors by sending an e-mail to the owner with a picture of the visitor, to let the owner decide whether or not to give access to the visitor even when the owner isn’t anywhere near the entrance. For face recognition, histogram of oriented gradient has been used as it requires lower computational time and lower processing power. To allow the owner to remotely send controlling commands to the raspberry pi, Flask has been used to host a webpage designed solely for the stated purpose, along with serveo that allows remote port forwarding. The system also uses an IoT API (ThingSpeak) to upload the name of the authorized visitors and their time of arrival.","PeriodicalId":337320,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of MOL2NET 2019, International Conference on Multidisciplinary Sciences, 5th edition","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130843208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In continuation of study of 17 metal oxide nanoparticles (MNPs) cytotoxicity to E. coli after 2 hrs. exposure under dark conditions, we have evaluated cytotoxicity of additional 8 MNPs maintaining equivalent experiemental conditions following the literature The overall cytotoxicity ranking of these additional MNPs according to LC 50 values in descending order is Er 2 O 3 , Gd 2 O 3 , CeO 2 , Co 2 O 3 , Mn 2 O 3 , Co 3 O 4 , Fe 3 O4/WO 3 . The in vitro study clearly suggested that Er 2 O 3 and Gd 2 O 3 are the most toxic among all 25 MNPs under the mentioned experiemental conditions. The present experiemental data is one of the biggest available nano metal oxide cytotoxicity data for E. coli at present time performed under similar experimental conditions and same laboratory. Therefore, the obtained data is significant in terms of OECD principle 1 of defined endpoint to develop statistically acceptable and predictive in silico models. {"title":"Highlighting glycosylation ways in Caryophyllaceae saponins by simplex simulation approach","authors":"Asma Hammami, M. Farman, N. Semmar","doi":"10.3390/mol2net-05-06386","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3390/mol2net-05-06386","url":null,"abstract":"Glycosylation mechanisms in saponins of Caryophyllaceae plant family were subjected to simulation by statistically exploring variability of 231 chemical structures belonging to four different aglycones: gypsogenin (Gyp), quillaic acid (QA), gypsogenic acid (GA), 16-OH-gypsogenic acid (16-OH-GA). Saponins based on different aglycones were initially characterized by relative glycosylation levels of different carbons. Simulation was initialized by combining the four saponin groups using Scheffe’s mixture design which provides a complete set of N gradual weightings of groups. Combined saponins were randomly and iteratively sampled from different groups by bootstrap technique. For a same combination, saponins were averaged leading to barycentric glycosylation profile. Iterations of the N barycentric profiles and averaging provided a final response matrix of N smoothed glycosylation profiles from which regulation mechanisms of carbons were highlighted in different aglycone-based saponins. Glucose (Glc) was revealed to be widely favored in GA and 16-OH-GA with more target aspect of 28-Glc in 16-OH-GA and relatively shared distribution between C28 (mainly) C3 and C23 in GA. Strong competition for galactose (Gal) was highlighted between C3 and C28 with target aspects to 28-Gal in GA and 3-Gal in (Gyp, QA). Gyp and QA showed higher regulations of pentoses (xylose, Xyl; arabinose, Ara) with more affinity of GA for (3-Ara, 28-Xyl) and 16-OH-GA for (3-Xyl, 28-Ara). These results call for further investments in simulations of glycosylation mechanisms helping for better understanding metabolic aspects of saponins, and encouraging future analytic experiments in the field.","PeriodicalId":337320,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of MOL2NET 2019, International Conference on Multidisciplinary Sciences, 5th edition","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131050096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
