The type of this research was qualitative descriptive supportedquantitative data with 30 VIII F students as the subject.This study wasconducted for four times meetings. The data were taken by using observationsheet of their critical thinking and questionnaire of their independence oflearning. The result of data obtained in form of observations andquestionnaires which then descriptive analysis.The result showed that theircritical thinking on the aspect of giving explanation, concluding, set thestrategy and tactics of the categories as good and very good, while theirindependence of learning on the aspect of self-confidence, initiative, andresponsibility were independent.","PeriodicalId":33634,"journal":{"name":"MEJ Mathematics Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47601514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data obtained fromresearch instruments in the form of tests (pretest and postes problem solvingability) and nontes (scale of mathematical disposition). After the observation,the data is reviewed and analyzed. Based on the results of research and dataprocessing, obtained: (a) Improvement and achievement of mathematicalproblem solving ability of MA students whose learning using Problem Posingapproach is better than the learning using ordinary learning, and (b)Mathematical disposition of MA students whose learning using ProblemPosing approach better than learning using ordinary learning.","PeriodicalId":33634,"journal":{"name":"MEJ Mathematics Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46791101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Type of this research isdescriptive and the approach used is qualitative and quantitative. Techniqueof collecting data were observation, test, and documentation. The resultsshowed that the planning of TGT learning was only based on 4 components:(1) class presentations, (2) teams, (3) games, and (4) tournaments as well asthe non-implementation of group awards and components combined withscientific approaches, while student learning activities are in type of “good”category since the test results showed that 28 students were complete and 6students were unfinished. In classical, students' completeness reached 82.3%and was said to be complete. These results indicated that learning activitieswith TGT model with scientific approach is good to be applied.","PeriodicalId":33634,"journal":{"name":"MEJ Mathematics Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46650239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The population in this research is all students ofclass VIII MTsN 1 Subang. Samples were taken by random class, which arefrom eight grade obtained two classes, namely VIII D as the experimentalclass and class VIII A as the control class. Instruments in this study wereeach set of tests for mathematical connections, and a set of student’sadversity quotient scales and a set of student’s scale of views on SQ4Rlearning. The study found that the achievement and improvement ofmathematical connection ability of students whose learning using SQ4Rlearning is better than that of learning using ordinary learning as a whole orreviewed from KAM. And also adversity quotient of students who studyusing SQ4R is better than the learning using ordinary learning. it was alsofound an association between the ability of connections and adversityquotient of students in the classroom using SQ4R learning.
