In this case report, we wanted to discuss a case of a large Bartholin gland cyst that presented with painful genital swelling to our clinic and its treatment. A woman in perimenopausal age presented with a large mass in the vulva, and physical examination revealed an 18x10 cm mass originating from the left labia minora. MRI confirmed the mass, and the initial diagnosis was Bartholin gland cyst. The cyst was surgically excised totally under the operating room conditions and sent for histopathological examination. Although Bartholin gland cysts can present in various sizes and clinical features, cysts of this size are rare and can be confused with malignant masses.","PeriodicalId":335844,"journal":{"name":"Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135943100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Eighteen patients (9 males and 9 females) with MTC who underwent 68Ga-DOTATE PET/CT for elevated calcitonin(Ct) levels were included in this study. Histopathological data, laboratory findings, 68Ga-DOTATE PET/CT findings were evaluated for each patient. 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT imaging findings were negative in 5 of 18 patients (27.8%) and positive in 13 of 18 patients (72.2%). The mean Ct level of patients with positive findings was higher than others. 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT was insufficient for detecting liver metastases in two patients who exhibited hypermetabolic uptakes consistent with solitary metastases in the liver on 18FDG-PET/CT. We believe that 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT plays an important role in the management of MTC patients with recurrent or metastatic disease. Its sensitivity is directly proportional to the levels of serum Ct. However, it may have limitations in detecting liver metastases.","PeriodicalId":335844,"journal":{"name":"Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135943105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Experimental groups were formed as 4 groups (n=8). Control group (C). Thymoquinone group (THQ), 20 mg/kg single dose intragastric (i.g.) daily for seven days. Isoproterenol group (ISO) was administered 100 mg/kg intraperitoneally in two doses on days 7 and 8 of the experiment. Thymoquinone+Isoproterenol group (THQ+ISO), THQ 20 mg/kg i.g. was administered once a day for seven days. In addition, two doses of ISO 100 mg/kg i.p. were administered on the seventh and eighth days. Kidney tissues were evaluated histopathologically. Kidney tissues were evaluated histopathologically. Tumour necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α) and alpha Smooth Muscle Actin(α-SMA) immunoreactivity density changes were determined by immunohistochemistry. Glutathione(GST), Glutathione S-transferases(GSTs) and Interleukin-6(IL-6) levels were evaluated by ELISA method. Isoproterenol injection caused severe histopathological changes on kidney tissue. Also TNF-α and α-SMA levels were found to be higher in groups where ISO was administered. THQ could be effective on kidney tissue to partially correct these histopathological damages, by decreasing fibrosis and inflammation. This study shows that treatment with THQ is effective in preventing kidney damage caused by ISO-induced MI. We think that THQ as a supplementary food will be effective to prevent kidney damage.","PeriodicalId":335844,"journal":{"name":"Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135789692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since then, therapeutic antibodies have become the predominant class of new drugs developed recently, and an essential part of progress has affected cell lines. From the first pioneer hybridoma cells to the current vanguard Chinese hamster ovary [CHO] cells dramatic improvement has been seen. An essential part of this process is choosing the suitable cell line to seed the targeted antibody gene. This review encompasses all the current evidence to compare various proper cell lines for monoclonal antibody production such as mammalian cells, plant cells, bacterial cells, and yeast cells. Valid long-term data, regarding glycosylation, efficiency, and safety, support the current popularity of CHO cells. At the same time, other types of cell lines also show some promise for emerging needs for more therapeutic antibodies on the market.","PeriodicalId":335844,"journal":{"name":"Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135449036","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thiol levels, in the case of elevated oxidative stress, are lowered by their use in neutralization of reactive oxygen molecules. It was aimed to investigate thiol and disulfide blood levels or thiol/disulfide ratio as a marker of total oxidant status which plays a role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases that may cause respiratory failure. The study included 98 patients (58 males, 40 females) who have partial oxygen pressure (PaO2)<60 mmHg or partial carbon dioxide pressure (PaCO2)>45 mmHg in arterial blood in intensive care unit and 98 healthy volunteers. Total thiol and native thiol levels were measured by spectrophotometric method. Total thiol (270 ± 99.81), native thiol (203.90 ± 103.41) and disulfide (33.10 ± 12.42) levels of the patient group were significantly lower (p <0.001) than total thiol (423.62 ± 70.3), native thiol (307.13 ± 57.73) and disulfide (58.24 ± 27.21) of the control group levels. There is no significant difference between native thiol / total thiol, disulfide / total thiol and disulfide / native thiol ratios. This study may be the first study in the literature in terms of providing the diagnosis and follow-up of dynamic thioldisulfide balance in patients with acute respiratory failure requiring intensive care support treatment. Thiol and disulfide blood levels or thiol / disulfide ratio can guide us as a prognostic test in acute respiratory failure patients.","PeriodicalId":335844,"journal":{"name":"Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122730177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between fear of Coronavirus, emotional eating behaviour and physical activity levels in individuals aged >65 years, and to determine the differences between individuals who did and did not gain weight during the pandemic. The study included individuals aged>65 years who were not diagnosed with Coronavirus disease (Covid-19). Participants’ demographic information, Fear of Covid-19 Scale scores, Emotional Eater Questionnaire (EEQ) scores, and physical activity levels according to the General Practice Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPPAQ) were recorded with an online questionnaire. The study included a total of 156 participants (72 females, 46.2%; 84 males, 53.8%). The average age was 71.86 ± 7.13 years. The average change in body mass index (BMI) between February 2020 and January 2021 was 0.80 ± 1.32 kg/m 2 . Participants were divided into two according to change in body mass index during the pandemic as weight-gain (WG, n=104) and non-weight-gain (NWG, n=52) groups. The two groups were not different in terms of descriptive characteristics, the Fear of Covid-19 Scale scores, and physical activity levels (p>0.05). The WG group scored statistically higher in EEQ, and the EEQ type-of-food subscale (p=0.027, p=0.029, respectively). Current BMI, overall EEQ score, and EEQ disinhibition and type-of-food subscores were weakly positively correlated with the change in BMI (p˂0.05). EEQ guilt subscores were weakly positively correlated with the age (p˂0.05). The change in BMI during the Covid-19 quarantine was associated with the EEQ overall score and its subscales among elderly adults. Physical activity levels of groups were similar and participants who gained weight were more prone to emotional eating.","PeriodicalId":335844,"journal":{"name":"Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128216026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Serum lipid values and novel atherogenic risk calculations of 346 patients who came to the clinic for HBO treatment were performed. HBO treatment efficiency was evaluated on ABO blood groups. The effect of serum lipid levels and atherogenic risk levels on HBO treatment was measured according to the blood groups of ISSNHL patients. The most important finding is that ISSNHL patients with O blood group antigen benefit the least from HBO therapy. Moreover, patients with O blood group antigen had statistically lower serum lipid values and atrogenic risk index than patients with non-O blood group. In addition, the frequency of O blood group in ISSNHL patients was higher than in non-O blood groups. The effect of serum lipid values and atherogenic risk indices in ISSNHL patients receiving HBO therapy may vary according to ABO blood groups. The relationship between hyperbaric oxygen therapy and the ABO blood grouping system should be supported by further research.","PeriodicalId":335844,"journal":{"name":"Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132687949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study, 7 craniometric parameters were examined based on computed tomography images of 110 adult individuals 58 of whom were males and 52 females. There parameters were Bigonial Width (BGW) in mandibula, and Maximum Cranium Width (MCW), Upper Face Width (UFW), Bizygomatic Width (BZW), Vertex-Prosthion Height (VPH), Vertex-Nasion Height (VNH), Upper Face Height (UFH) in cranium. The difference between two groups was examined with t-test in independent groups. The relation between numerical variables was examined with the Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The analyses were made with IBM SPSS v.21. Significance level was taken as p<0.05. When the morphometric relation between the mandibula and cranium was examined, it was found that although a relation was detected between BGW and all craniometric parameters, there was a relation between BGW and MCW, UFW, BZW in men, and UFW and BZW parameters in females when gender was taken into account (p<0.05). No significant correlations were detected between BGW and VPH, VNH, UFH measurement values in both genders. This study revealed that there is a significant relation between BGW and UFW and BZW parameters in both genders. It is considered that the relation between the mandibula and cranium can be used in the clinic when it should be considered, and the results will contribute to scientific studies.","PeriodicalId":335844,"journal":{"name":"Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114228174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
