Dans le foisonnement des publications, ce bilan se centre sur la production en histoire contemporaine a partir d’une recension de numeros speciaux ou de dossiers de revues ainsi que d’ouvrages collectifs. L’objectif de cette etude est de montrer aussi bien les continuites que les evolutions dans les thematiques abordees et les methodes privilegiees, alors que le paysage de la recherche s’est considerablement transforme depuis vingt ans. L’article aborde dans un premier temps la revue emblematique du champ en France, Histoire de l’education, en analysant les 31 numeros speciaux parus depuis 2000, et en s’attachant a situer les evolutions thematiques au regard du contexte general de la recherche comme du contexte interne a la revue. Une deuxieme partie explore les dossiers publies par des revues variees, generalistes ou specialisees, en s’interessant notamment aux revues de sciences de l’education. Enfin, l’article se termine par un tour d’horizon des ouvrages collectifs d’histoire de l’education, qui se sont multiplies depuis le debut du siecle sous les effets de transformations dans l’organisation de la recherche en France. This encompasses three key phases. From 1960 until about 1975 it was a field that was based mainly in key texts while new journals and societies began to emerge. From 1975 to the end of the century as it lost its mass market in teacher education, general texts in the history of education declined while specialised journals research grew in importance. In the early decades of the twenty-first century, specialisation continued in an increasingly diversified research field with a growing emphasis on theory, methodology, comparative and transnational approaches, and engagement with the social sciences. Initially quite insular and tending to focus on local and national concerns, it became prominent in international activities and in contributing to research with international, comparative and transnational vistas.
