It is the most rapidly growing and ever expanding media for information interchange. The easiest way to distribute articles, theses, papers and legal law documents is through the Internet or file sharing systems, but it poses copyrights violation issues. To protect these intellectual property rights, only a few techniques have been proposed. We present a content-based technique in conjunction with horizontal word shift coding to provide a two level security and a mechanism for inserting and generating unique signatures and copyrights information","PeriodicalId":333629,"journal":{"name":"The Ninth International Conference onCommunications Systems, 2004. The influence of in-band and out-of band noise due to sampling and compression is considered. In multi-cell environment, the intense interference from neighboring cell sharpens the contradiction. In this paper, technique of random beamforming is used not only to avoid the intense interference statistically but also alleviate the contradiction. Fairness performance is further improved with appropriate scheduling schemes without much loss of average system throughput. A sum-contentment based scheduling is provided. Comparing with some other scheduling schemes, we find that with the aid of proper scheduling, random beamforming techniques can offer remarkable compromise between throughput and fairness in multi-user system","PeriodicalId":333629,"journal":{"name":"The Ninth International Conference onCommunications Systems, 2004. The commercial benefit of using WLAN in hot spots to relieve congestion in a cellular network is another motivation for the integration. For the integrated WLAN and cellular network, this paper proposes a novel vertical handover scheme to achieve better system utilization without compromising the quality of service (QoS) in terms of packet delay violation ratio. The handover scheme suggests performing an unconditional handover from WLAN to cellular network as long as it is needed. On the other hand, the handover from cellular network to WLAN is conditional and depending on user's traveling speed and cellular network's load. The proposed handover scheme has been evaluated using OPNET random event simulator. Simulation results show that, given a target user violation ratio, the proposed scheme can support a larger user arrival rate without compromising packet delay violation ratio. Also, the results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the number of toggling at the heterogeneous network boundary by 10% while maintaining the same user arrival rate","PeriodicalId":333629,"journal":{"name":"The Ninth International Conference onCommunications Systems, 2004.
