Hence, this paper aims to develop a controller which is less sensitive to noise. Present paper introduces a modified PID load frequency controller for the two area interconnected system comprising of non-reheat turbine based thermal plant and wind power plant with and without frequency control. The proposed controller is established by cascading of derivative filter with PID controller. Ziegler-Nicholas tuning method is employed for tuning of PID controller. The novelty of this work is based on the fact that modified PID controller for DFIG based wind turbine with inertial control has not been reported in literature so far. Time domain analysis has been performed in MATLAB/SIMULINK ver. 2013a for testing of applicability of proposed controller. The simulation results of the modified PID controller have been compared with traditional PID controller. A substantial improvement in performance of the power system has been perceived in case of modified PID controller. A consumer input database has been maintained whilst charging so that frequency response is coordinated from the plug-in electric vehicles as per the battery longevity requirements within a participating V2G range for various state-of-charge (SoC) levels. To ensure battery longevity, an adaptive droop based charge seizing control scheme has also been implemented. It has been implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK under various scenarios to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control algorithm. With an impending energy crisis on the horizon and with our non-renewable fuel resources getting exhausted, there is an immediate need for discovering ways that can utilize waste heat and other available energy-forms for production of electricity. In order to satisfy the increasing energy-demands, there is a need to discover alternate energy sources, as non-renewable energy resources are getting depleted. An effective way to achieve this target is utilizing Waste Heat energy. The technologies that have been developed till today, are converting waste heat to thermal energy and then transforming it into electrical energy using conventional power plants. The primary objective is to explore the concept of TEG (Thermo electric generators) for utilizing waste heat to meet the power demands and for reducing the environmental heating effects due to automobiles. In the modern automobile systems, as much as 70% of the energy obtained from fuels is getting wasted as heat. Existing work validates the technical feasibility of converting heat energy carried by exhaust gases in automobiles to generate power equivalent to a 70 Amp-hr battery, utilizing thermoelectric generators which operate on the early 19th century Seebeck principle. Accumulation of space charge accelerates the material aging and may lead to premature breakdown of the insulation. Therefore, it becomes increasingly important to understand the charge injection, trapping and de-trapping processes in dielectric under application of high voltage. In this paper, the charge trapping and de-trapping behavior of low density polyethylene have been investigated. A new experimental set-up has been developed to obtain the de-trapping characteristics of a charged dielectric sample. From the obtained response, the trapping parameters i.e. trap depth, trapped charge etc is evaluated. In this paper four different configurations namely single stage PV system, centralized DC-DC converter based PV system, PV panel level Distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) based PV system and PV module level DMPPT based PV system are considered for water pumping application. Impact of partial shading and mismatching for the considered four configurations is simulated using MATLAB/SIMLINK. Techno-economical analysis is performed in terms of PV power being extracted, saving in power and investment. From the analysis it is found that PV module level DMPPT based configuration is better in various types of random partial shading/mismatching conditions and increase in extracted PV power as compared to single stage and other configurations; justify the cost of additional investment required for additional DC-DC converters. Contribution of this paper is the implementation of proposed MISO converter to the conventional PV based water pumping system to enhance extraction of power from PV units under partial shading/mismatching phenomena without any energy storage device. Various irradiation patterns are considered to create the mismatching conditions and observe the performance of designed system. To verify the performance of proposed MISO converter, designed system is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. Thus, a hybrid DG system involving wind and solar energies can increase the power prediction over an individual. This paper presents, the DC link connected hybrid wind and solar based DG system along with power electronics interfacing. The system consists of PMSG as a wind generator, solar array, dc-dc converter and grid interface inverter. Power control strategy is used to extract the maximum power. Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control is essential to ensure the output of photovoltaic power generation system at the maximum power output as possible. The DC link connected model of wind and PV system is presented in Matlab/Simulink environment. Three phase Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) based Voltage Source Converter (VSC) is used as an Improved Power Quality Converter (IPQC) for power control from supply system at DC link. Three phase Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) is employed with DTC scheme for supplying the PMSM. To control an IPQC, a modified DPC scheme based on three level and two level hysteresis controllers is designed to get a power factor close to unity with minimum Total Harmonic Distortions (THDs) of the supply currents. MATLAB/ SIMULINK environment is used to model the proposed PMSM drive.
