In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for personal recognition including two main steps. Firstly, an enhancement algorithm based on Adaptive Histogram Equalization (AHE) is considered to improve the contrast of input FKP images. Secondly, a new algorithm is proposed to extract minutiae from enhanced FKP image. Simulation results showed that our proposed algorithm performs better than others existing methods with an FAR close to 0% and FRR values ranging from 87.5% to 100%.","PeriodicalId":332253,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing (ATSIP)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133395003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, our system is a two-stage approach, namely feature extraction and classification engine. Firstly, two sets of feature are investigated which are: 39 Mel-frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) coefficients and 65 MFCC features extracted based on the work of [20]. Secondly, we use the Support Vector Machine (SVM) as the main classifier engine since it is the most common technique in the field of speech recognition. Besides that, we investigate the importance of the recent advances in machine learning including the deep kernel learning, as well as the various types of auto-encoder (the basic auto-encoder and the stacked auto-encoder). A large set of experiments are conducted on the SAVEE audio database. The experimental results show that DSVM method outperforms the standard SVM with a classification rate of 69.84% and 68.25% using 39 MFCC, respectively. Additionally, the auto-encoder method outperforms the standard SVM, yielding a classification rate of 73.01%.","PeriodicalId":332253,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing (ATSIP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125415913","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important because of its impact on the evapotranspiration and irrigation management. The most widespread approach is based on the synergy between radar and optical data to retrieve soil moisture. The aim is to study the potential of Sentinel sensors (Sentinel-1 (S-1) and Sentinel-2 (S-2)) for the retrieving of the soil moisture at regional scale. First, an analysis between the radar (S-1) and the measured data (soil moisture, soil roughness and Leaf Area Index (LAI)) is established over bare soils and cereal fields in the Kairouan plain, Tunisia. The results of the sensitivity analysis show that the radar signal in VV (vertical) polarization and soil and vegetation parameters are strongly correlated than in VH cross-polarization. The Water Cloud Model was calibrated using the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) retrieved from Sentinel-2 images. Then, an inversion approach of this model is developed for the mapping of soil moisture at high spatial resolution.","PeriodicalId":332253,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing (ATSIP)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130186779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This common approach is performed statistically on each single pixel in the captured frames. Thus, it is well suitable for parallel processing. With the great evolution of multi-core platforms, the parallelization of this algorithm is the most efficient way for its real-time acceleration. In this paper, we propose an efficient multi-threading parallelization of GMM on a 16-cores Intel node using the OpenMP framework. This is carried out by removing data dependencies between different threads which slows down the system; balancing their computational load and avoiding some hidden errors when measuring the performance. The use of a suitable compile environment and options showed that high scalability and linear speedup are achieved even when high number of cores is used.","PeriodicalId":332253,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing (ATSIP)","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130210799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several approaches has been proposed to minimize the sensor error as the Particle filter (PF) which has gain a popularity with nonlinear and non-gaussian noise system models. In the case of orientation estimation and positioning the PF has been employed in the frame of hybridization with other measurement systems such as visual systems, radio-localisation, GPS etc. In this study, we propose to use only the data obtained from inertial sensor, with a constrained PF. The Iterative Mean Density Truncation algorithm (IMeDeT) has been employed with a quaternion algorithm based on acceleration and magnetic field. An improvement in term of accuracy has been clearly detected as well as the filter convergence, against the Extended Kalman Filer (EKF)and an optical measurement system.","PeriodicalId":332253,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing (ATSIP)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121065719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has two advantages: first, it uses a wide frequency spectrum and second, it offers an intrinsic security dimension since the light cannot pass through walls. We present a cost-effective and energy-efficient system based on VLC for video transmission. Our system could be easily implemented without introducing major modifications to the existing infrastructure. This system does not entail special devices, nor does it require installing drivers. We overcome three main research challenges: 1) removing the noise caused by the ambient light and recovering data, 2) reaching transmission debit enabling high-quality video running fluidly, 3) establishing a distance between the transmitter and the receiver long enough to facilitate the use of the system in real conditions. We implemented a visible light communication prototype operating at 4 Mb/s capable of exceeding a distance of 2 meters. The transmitter is based on a regular white LED. Due to its nanosecond response and high sensitivity to light, the photodiode PD is the main component of the receiver. The system is based on an On-Off keying modulation and demodulation technique. A cyclic redundancy check (CRC) is implemented within the developed software to reduce the bit error rate (BER)._This communication technology can be implemented where radio frequency communication cannot, for example, in hospitals. In perspective, we intend to make progress at the software-level to enable realtime video transmission.","PeriodicalId":332253,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing (ATSIP)","volume":"321 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124538624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

WSN gives information about the objects physical conditions that permit to create cost effective services adapted to application needs. Thus, RFID and WSN integration is an emerging technology utilizing both systems advantages making it reliable and efficient. In this paper, we propose real time locating techniques to satisfy the request of mobile expensive medications localization and managing in a hospital environment efficiently using AOA and TOA based on received signal parameter. With the exponential growth of data in the field of remote sensing, classifying these massive images still remains an open and challenging issue. The high dimensionality of the feature space, not only increases the time and space complexities, but also may reduce the image classification performance in terms of accuracy and time to build the classification model. To overcome this challenge, this paper presents a novel feature selection method based on a combinatorial optimization algorithm for training a feed-forward Artificial Neural Networks to select a small number of features while maintaining good classification rates. The performance of the proposed method is tested on real image dataset and compared with other state-of-the-art methods. The experimental results show that the proposed method has good performances.","PeriodicalId":332253,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing (ATSIP)","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123481669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It involves five DCT/DST-based transform types known as: DCT-II, DCT-VIII, DCT-V, DST-I and DST-VII. This work, proposes multiplierless hardware architectures of size 4 for all considered transform types. These architectures are implemented in FPGA benefitting from both correlation and symmetry properties of the matrices coefficients. This paper presents and compares two different architecture aspects without and with involving state-machines to evaluate their effect on the proposed hardware design. The experimental and synthesis results show that the two methods, supporting all five transform types, require less than 3% of the offered FPGA device area and provide respectively 318 MHz and 285 MHz as maximum operation frequency. With adding the pipelining operation, the proposed designs can support real time coding of 4Kp30 and 2Kp60 videos, respectively. Moreover, the implementation based on state-machines offers about 45% operations number and hardware area reduction.","PeriodicalId":332253,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing (ATSIP)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115287979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
