In Bangladesh, particularly in the major urban cities, PM2.5 has been identified as an important public health hazard. This research aims to perform a spatiotemporal mapping of PM2.5 from 2002-2019 to determine the hotspots in central Bangladesh. A time series of remotely sensed PM2.5 is used in mapping spatiotemporal and hotspot analysis, applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing. This research reveals that the annual concentration of PM2.5 increased by 47% during 2002-2019. On the other hand, the high hotspot zones are found in the middle of the study areas, the core urban areas of Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Gazipur Districts. Moreover, this research found that 16.5% (3,640,748 persons out of the total population) were in the age group 0-9, 0.95% (2,109,99 persons) were in the age group 60+, 5% (12,062,419 persons) were pregnant women, and 1% (24,621 persons) were pneumonia patients in very high- and high-hotspot zones. The relevant policymakers and departments may use these findings on the policy applications for health hazard risk reduction and local and regional air pollution mitigation.","PeriodicalId":332244,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Hyperspectral Remote Sensing","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126667945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study is to conceptually approach the hydrological modeling and payment for environmental services - PES in the decision-making process for the conservation of River Basins. The methodology used was bibliographical and documentary research. We trace through concepts the trajectory from ecosystem services that are the basis for hydrological modeling and PES which in turn are tools used in the decision-making process in water management, ending with the approach of water governance, where managers plan, make strategic decisions for action in policies on water resources management. Since this satellite will stop providing data in the near future, in order to continue the trend analyzes it will be necessary an integration and adjustment between AQUA fire pixels data with the data from the next reference satellite: the Suomi NPP (VIIRS). Therefore, this study has as objective to analyze the differences in fire pixels detection from AQUA and S-NPP satellites at country, state and municipal level. During the 10 years period assessed, the S-NPP detected, on average, 5.13 times more fire pixels than the AQUA on the South America continent. Venezuela was the country with the highest S-NPP/AQUA ratio (6.81) and Chile the lowest (3.87). When analyzing the fire pixels only in the Brazilian states, Acre presented the lowest S-NPP/AQUA ratio (3,72), while in Sergipe the highest (10,07). In the Pará’s municipalities, the lowest S-NPP/AQUA ratio was in Quatipuru (2.84), while the highest in Ananindeua (11.25). Despite the differences in the ratio, the number of fire pixels detected by the AQUA and S-NPP presented, almost in all cases, a significant correlation. Only the smallest municipalities in Pará had no significant correlation, probably due to low data and/or detection location errors. The changes in the S-NPP/AQUA ratio occurred probably due to factors such as sampling characteristics (pixel enlargement away from nadir), geographic area analyzed, timing of satellite overpasses, predominant type of vegetation, and others. Therefore, there isn’t one unique formula to adjust AQUA data to S-NPP, variations will persist at different locations.","PeriodicalId":332244,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Hyperspectral Remote Sensing","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123803767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The PRISMA satellite hyperspectral data have found applications in many disciplines including environmental monitoring, agriculture, forest and grassland mapping, land use and land cover mapping, hydrology, geology, and glaciology. In this study the PRISMA satellite hyperspectral imagery are evaluated for the characterization of the surface outcrop of quartz-alunite epithermal gold deposits occurring at Goldfield in Nevada, USA and at Rodalquilar in southeastern Spain. The Goldfield in Nevada has an arid to semiarid climate, whereas the Rodalquilar occurs in a semiarid region in southeastern Spain. The quartz-alunite gold deposits are associated with extensive alteration zones. Several important alteration minerals display distinct spectral reflectance features in the 0.4-2.5 μm wavelength region where the PRISMA sensor records. The surface reflectance PRISMA satellite hyperspectral data were analyzed using the Spectral Mixture Analysis (SMA) technique. The PRISMA mapped several key alteration minerals useful to depict the epithermal alteration zones. The study shows the applicability of PRISMA satellite hyperspectral imagery for the detection and mapping of altered rocks associated with quartz-alunite epithermal gold deposits in arid and semiarid regions.
