The EDF-5.4_2 bioreactor, produced by \"Biotehniskais centrs\" (Latvia), was utilized for the experimental study. Samples of sludge from a fish farm located in Nagļu parish, Rēzekne district were collected and analysed for their moisture and organic matter content before being mixed with crushed reeds to increase the organic matter available for fermentation and biogas extraction. In this study, biogas was produced by mixing different ratios of sludge and reed residue. The yield of biogas varied based on the temperature, with the best results being achieved at 40°C. During the experiment, 2.75 L of biogas containing 37.3% methane was produced from the mixture of 1,200 g of fish farming sludge and 100 g of crushed reeds. Although the highest methane content of 40.16% was recorded at 43°C, the total amount of biogas produced was lower by 15% at this temperature. The least favourable results were recorded at 37°C, in terms of both the amount of biogas produced and the methane content. The experimental studies demonstrate that residues from aquaculture can be used for biogas production.","PeriodicalId":332103,"journal":{"name":"ENVIRONMENT. TECHNOLOGIES. RESOURCES. The mathematical model provides a broad spectrum of settings and input options. This research aims to explore the MPPD model concept and determine the deposition fraction (DF), clearance, and retained mass in the human respiratory tract (HRT) based on the geometric mean diameter (GMD) and mass concentration (MC) of particulate matter (PM) emitted during the 3D printing process. We used the real-time air sample data collected during the 8-hour working shift in the 3D printing office. Ultrafine PM deposits mainly in lungs (56%), fine PM mostly deposits in the upper respiratory tract (URT) (41%) and lungs (39%), but coarse PM mostly deposits in the URT (81%). The biggest DF in lower respiratory tract is ultrafine PM (487 μg), the smaller DF is coarse PM (185 μg) and the smallest DF is fine PM (123 μg). The biggest DF in lung for all PM - lower lobes (fine PM - 60%, ultrafine PM, coarse PM - 61%). In a model, where exposure was 5 hours a day, five days a week, during one month, followed by one year of post-exposure period, it was shown that retained mass in the tracheobronchial (TB) region was 1% for ultrafine and coarse PM each, 2% for fine PM, and 55% for all PM in the pulmonary region. The MPPD software is an easily accessible and valuable tool for assessing the impact of PM on the HRT. Particulate matter decreasing in diameter, tend to deposit mostly in the deeper levels of HRT. Tracheobronchial region clearance is more rapid than pulmonary region clearance. Potentially for persons using the 3D-printer regularly the worst health impact could be associated with smaller size of PM, due to tendency deposit mostly in pulmonary region where the clearance rate is slower.","PeriodicalId":332103,"journal":{"name":"ENVIRONMENT. The proposed design offers a closed-shaped flattened conveyor equipped with flat-shaped blades. The conveyor is oriented perpendicular to the fluid flow. Several identical flat blades interacting with fluid flow are mounted on conveyor belt and move together with the belt in one straight line direction. Then after turning in the reversing mechanism, blades move in the opposite direction. The conveyor system has a built-in energy generator which drive shaft is connected with one of the reversing ends of the plant. Conveyor belt system dynamics analysis is performed on the base of equivalent model with one degree of freedom. The interaction of a moving conveyor flat blade in translation motion with fluid flow is studied by computer simulation with program Mathcad using a superposition principle. In accordance with this approach, a fast-chaotic motion of fluid particles (Brownian motion) is separated from the slow-directed flow motion, with the given average velocity. Optimization of system parameters (blade orientation angle to fluid flow, interaction constants of the braking generator) is performed, using a generated power as criterion. Simulation results confirm the serviceability and operational efficiency of the proposed hydropower plant in shallow river waters. ","PeriodicalId":332103,"journal":{"name":"ENVIRONMENT. It is important to determine how a primary school teacher can use VLE communication and collaboration tools to teach mathematics primary school students. Participants – 4th grade students ((n = 51). Access to quantitative studies has been chosen for the study. Methods of study: Analysis of scientific literature, testing, descriptive statistics, and inference statistics. Data from the pilot study and the educational experiment were processed using version 23 of the IBM SPSS Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The normality of the variable distribution was tested using the Shapiro-Wilk test. Throughout the research, decisions are taken at a value a = 0.05. Study adhered to the fundamental principles of the European Code of Conduct for Study Ethics. The curator of the education was in contact with the students and their parents by e-mail and using the VLE communication and collaboration tools (messages, forums, feedback). The aim was to find out whether the number of emails and messages sent by the curator affected the students’ learning time in the VLE. The hypothesis of zero Pearson coefficient equality in the population is checked. There was a statistically significant weak relationship between the number of emails sent by the curator of the curriculum, the number of messages for students and the time spent by the student for the lessons of the curriculum. There was a mean relationship in the boy’s group, but there was no statistically significant relationship in girls’ group. There was also a statistically significant weak relationship between e-mails sent by the curriculum curator, the number of messages sent to students and the evaluation of the lessons of the curriculum. There was an average relationship in the boy’s group, but in the girl’s group there was no statistically significant relationship between the emails sent by the tutor, the number of messages to students and the evaluation of the lessons of the curriculum. This confirms the theory of constructivism that VLE is suitable for education because teachers can act as learning facilitators to communicate with each other during learning.","PeriodicalId":332103,"journal":{"name":"ENVIRONMENT. The aim of this study was to evaluated the influence of hydrothermal conditions on the development of agronomic important traits of flax, analysed agronomic characteristics and identified perspective genotypes for pre-breeding. Field investigations were carried out from 2014 to 2017 for agronomically important traits of flax. In the study was evaluated flax population with Latvian origin in 24 fibre flax genotypes and ‘Vega 2’ (ST) as the standard variety of Lithuanian origin under Latvian meteorological conditions. Correlation between flax genotypes of the agronomically important yield traits and years of the hydrothermal coefficients during the growth period were analysed. According to the results obtained that most of genotypes the significant higher plants stem yield, total plant height, technical plant height, number of seed vessels per plant were measured in the growing seasons with high humidity. However, the higher seed yield and 1000 seed weight were measured in the driest year. The correlation between flax fibre content, seed number per seed-vessel, oil content and humidity level differed in dependence on genotype. The coefficient of variability between years was higher for of stem yield when compared with seed yield. The flax genotypes ‘S13/5-7/5-93’ exhibited more stable, highest stem yield (840.0 g m-2) and high seed yield (162.2 g m-2). The flax was identified 80% samples the short and 20% the medium vegetation period. ","PeriodicalId":332103,"journal":{"name":"ENVIRONMENT. TECHNOLOGIES. RESOURCES. Most modern robots and drones have their own vision system, including a video camera, which they use to take digital photos and video streams. These data are used to analyze the situation in the robot's camera field of view, as well as to determine a real-time robot's behavior algorithm. In this regard, the novelty of the paper is special polynomial mathematical model and method for adaptive gradational correction of a digital image. The proposed model and method make it possible to independently adjust to brightness scales and image formats and optimally perform gradational image correction in various lighting conditions. Thus, ensuring the efficiency of the entire subsequent cycle of image analysis in the robot's vision system.
