Learning management system (LMS) is an important tool and suitable as tool for learning and activities in a higher education. However, each university has a different LMS tool that allows users to use it in their activities. This paper is interested in investigating the acceptance of Jordanian academic staff in using an LMS after getting back to work post the COVID-19 period. The study sample consisted of 500 faculty members of different ranks, selected randomly from all Jordanian universities, for the second semester of the academic year 2020-2021. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM2) has been adopted to identify the Acceptance and use of LMS. The questionnaire developed by the researcher was based on past research studies. Simple linear regression was used to calculate the relationships between factors. The research results presented that there is a statistically positive effect of  Perceived Usefulness(PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) and Subjective Norm(SN) on adoption to use LMS, and  Perceived Ease of Use(PEOU), lecturers' Image(LI), Subjective Norm(SN), Job Relevance(JR), and, Result Demonstrability(RD) Output Quality(OQ) on Perceived Usefulness(PU). This study indicates that we must always conduct workshops and training programs related to learning management systems and computers to enhance the usability of learning management systems among faculty members","PeriodicalId":331457,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Studies in Education","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114264373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study was to examine whether implementation of the Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) model in a high school chemistry course would be associated with improved student scores compared to a more traditional approach. The study employed a nonequivalent control group design to evaluate the posttest scores of students by instructional method and gender. Data were obtained from a sample of 28 honors students in a chemistry course in grades 10 and 11. The data consisted of pretest and posttest scores. A two-way analysis of covariance was used to address the study’s research questions, controlling for the students’ aptitude. The results showed that there were no significant differences in achievement between the ADI and traditional methods groups, controlling for the students’ aptitude. Also, the interaction between instructional method and gender was not significant. Use of ADI methods was, thus, found to neither improve nor be negatively associated with student performance.","PeriodicalId":331457,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Studies in Education","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121665744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some behavioral challenges require rapid intervention and a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach from the teachers. An internationally recognized tool, TCM (Teacher Classroom Management), aims to support pupils' socio-emotional development, improve teacher-pupil interaction, and strengthen school-home cooperation. This pilot study examines teachers' experiences of TCM in Finnish primary school context. The study is qualitative, and the data (N=16) was collected through focus group interviews. According to the results, the teacher's strengthened group management skills were positively reflected in the classroom. Teachers´ positive communication with the class strengthened interaction and made it easier to deal with difficult issues. However, implementing TCM in the school community requires ongoing support. Collegial experiences and renewed group management skills strengthened the teachers' own experience of coping at work. The TCM method provided appropriate group management tools.","PeriodicalId":331457,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Studies in Education","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133598062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study sample consisted of eighteen faculty members randomly selected from the research community. The descriptive and analytical approach based on the questionnaire, verified for its validity and reliability, is used to achieve the goals. The results indicated that the overall score towards the reality of using modern teaching strategies was medium. The results also showed no statistically significant differences in employing modern teaching strategies due to a variable (gender, workplace, specialization). The presence of statistically significant differences in teaching due to the experience years' variable number and the variable of academic qualification in favor of scientific qualification (Ph.D.). From the instructors' view of the instructors, the most used teaching strategies in the architectural design in the Faculties of Engineering in Palestinian Universities are Discussion strategy, critical thinking, Brainstorming strategy, and direct teaching strategy. Programmed instruction and Intensive course strategies are considered the least used.","PeriodicalId":331457,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Studies in Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130546183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is observed that pre-service teachers need to be better prepared for the use of AT in their teaching, including awareness, creative and innovative ways of problem solving, and pedagogical use of “low-tech” “mid-tech” and “high-tech” AT. Based on the observation and experience of the author in his teaching of an ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) course in a teacher education program at a middle-sized university in Ontario, Canada, this paper intends to broaden educators’ understanding of AT including hardware and software, emphasize the necessity of the introduction of AT in teacher education programs, and discuss the pedagogical uses of various types of AT tools. By sharing our observations and experiences, it is hoped that educators can be inspired to use various methods to expand the understanding of AT in pre-service teacher education and in-service teacher professional development programs. ","PeriodicalId":331457,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Studies in Education","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117213435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With Chinese international high school students comprising one of the top three sending countries in the US, understanding the offerings and utilization of school support during the pandemic is less known. This qualitative study addresses Chinese international high school student perspectives of the identified in- and out-of-school supports, along with in depth interviews to understand how these supports are being leveraged.  Results indicate a range of identified offerings in- and out-of-schools–with social networks being the largest source of connectivity. Re-examination of current structures, in-school support, and communication with international students and families are needed. Recommendations include private schools leveraging cultural assets to provide greater connections between students and schools.","PeriodicalId":331457,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Studies in Education","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128993095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method used in the study was the inductive approach of qualitative research. Data for this study were gathered in the English language through semi-structured interviews with teachers from the State University of New York COIL network of universities. The benefits for teachers that were mentioned are learning opportunities, development of pedagogy, professional acknowledgment, and satisfaction from providing students global education experience. The main challenges include time, student motivation, and the amount of engagement of partnering teachers. The study showed that it is mostly teachers who decide to implement this pedagogy in their class rather than the institution. It takes a lot of extra work and motivation on the teacher's side. Together with the hesitant approach to online teaching, it may be the reason why it is not that widespread yet. However, it seems like the pandemic helped this pedagogy to reach more teachers due to the sudden switch to online teaching. ","PeriodicalId":331457,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Studies in Education","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133818657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, constructing one’s identity as an ideal candidate is still the main goal for career-oriented documents and should be the focus of related lessons. The classroom activity system mediates the résumés and cover letters students create in business and technical communication courses. Students write these assignments for teachers, who are outside of professional activity systems. Because students are not immersed in the professional contexts for which they write these career-oriented assignments, they have difficulty constructing effective identities for being ideal candidates for assumed positions. Although résumés and cover letters are ubiquitous assignments for professional communication courses, little research has looked at how students struggle with composing a professional identity. Most résumé research analyzes materials submitted to employers after applicants leave school. The author reviews student texts in this genre and argues that career-oriented assignments are actually a classroom-specific genre with little connection to the assumed professional contexts to which students aspire. The author concludes that students should focus on more immediate attainable goals rather than future career goals many years away.","PeriodicalId":331457,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Studies in Education","volume":"443 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123406085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typically, students in this class are not math enthusiasts. In this study, I analyzed performance data of Liberal Arts students in the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 at University of Central Florida. Based on data reports and analytics, the course content was revised, and activity learning strategies were implemented in the Fall 2018. Furthermore, early alerts and encouragements were sent during or just after topics identified as difficult were taught. Class activities were tailored to improve students’ understanding. Homework, quizzes, and test scores were analyzed and compared with the two previous semesters. The results showed that the pedagogical methods implemented contributed to increase the overall passing rate and retention of students.","PeriodicalId":331457,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Studies in Education","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114231126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data was collected using surveys from preservice teachers in the United States (N=327) enrolled in a traditional teacher training program at a major university in the Southeast. Study results identified distinct teacher typologies based on their teaching motivations, and differences with respect to their instructional and efficacy beliefs. Study findings can help researchers and teacher education programs understand the complex interplay between teaching motivations, beliefs and cultural nuances related to these concepts. Study implications are further discussed in relation with findings.","PeriodicalId":331457,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Studies in Education","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115321761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
