Adopting a mixed study approach, the paper made use of both primary surveys (on travel intermediaries and customers between March-May, 2016) and secondary data search from the former’s SMSs for which a convenience sampling technique was used to choose the intermediaries from the Thamel area, the main travel tourism business hub of Nepal. The study found constant rise in the use of social media by travel intermediaries in communicating about product and price, which customers also most look for and respond to. Facebook alone and Facebook in combination with other social media was most popular among both intermediaries and customers; and SMSs are influential in making most customers buy the mixed category of travel products. What of the SMSs influences the customers most is the recall factor of the sought product information and comments and reviews. The findings can be useful to the travel managers in strengthening their social media marketing.","PeriodicalId":331142,"journal":{"name":"PYC Nepal Journal of Management","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117295594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study analyzed for the investigation of the Granger causality between trading volume and stock price using monthly data sets to ascertain if the causality runs from volume to stock price or from stock price to volume or in both directions. This study detected unidirectional causality from stock returns to trading volume that is indicative of noise trading model of return volume interaction in this market.","PeriodicalId":331142,"journal":{"name":"PYC Nepal Journal of Management","volume":"206 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132361038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study finds that the import has grown rapidly (at an annual average rate of 17%) and the import at snail’s pace (at an annual rate of 4%) over the study period. As a result the trade balance is negative and growing every year. Such a trend can’t sustain for long. Further, Nepal’s foreign trade is too much dependent (exceeding two-third of both export and import) on India which needs to be diversified to rest of the world.","PeriodicalId":331142,"journal":{"name":"PYC Nepal Journal of Management","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132822729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is one of the powerful and useful components of any profitability measurement system for financial institutions. This study aimed to survey the opinions of branch managers of Nepalese Commercial Banks in order to measure the awareness about FTP and to collect opinions regarding its practice in Nepal. A total of 140 branch managers were approached for the data collection. Out of them only 88 branch managers were found having awareness on FTP system. Therefore, detail analysis was made on the basis of responses of only 88 respondents. The survey revealed that Nepalese branch managers agree on the advantages of FTP system in bank branches, but they lacked enough skill of FTP system. The awareness of branch managers is depended more on their work experience than on job level of managers.","PeriodicalId":331142,"journal":{"name":"PYC Nepal Journal of Management","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131905934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
