The present contribution presents a composed analogue and discrete-time structure, based on second-order nonlinear building blocks with periodic oscillatory behaviour, that can be used for complex signal generation. The chosen feedback connection of the two modules aims at obtaining a more complex nonlinear dynamic behaviour than that of the building blocks. Performing a parameter scan, it is highlighted that the resulting nonlinear system has a quasi-periodic behaviour for large ranges of parameter values. The nonlinear system attractor projections are obtained by simulation and statistical numerical results are presented, both confirming the possible use of the designed system as a noise generator.","PeriodicalId":330949,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. Sometimes it is easier or cheaper to improvise DA and AD converters instead of using dedicated ones. This paper is a comparative analysis of how accurate the analog signals can be generated from digital systems, like Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) using only additional passive circuits. For this analysis, different FPGAs families were tested. Two alternatives of generating analog signals were considered in this study: PWM and R2R network. The analysis has been performed for a common frequency band, from 100 Hz to 30 kHz, using a virtual instrument for building an automated test system. At 10 kHz the PWM module obtains better THD values, reaching even 0.013% and at 30 kHz the R2R module obtains better THD values, reaching even 0.222%.","PeriodicalId":330949,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. A positive trend depends on diversifying the materials used to manufacture plates and adapting them to the climatic conditions. The article presents several technological aspects to give an idea about the evolution of the yields of photovoltaic panels, especially about the photovoltaic technology in the first, the second, and third generations. After the statement of the main characteristics of the photovoltaic panels, an analysis of the factors that can affect their performances and can create difficulties in implementing projects is made. This approach aims to choose the most advantageous combination of concepts and techniques when making photovoltaic parks.","PeriodicalId":330949,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. Electricity and thermal energy can be produced simultaneously with a photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) system. In the paper, an innovative concept of PVT system for a hospital is studied. PVT collectors serve as both a heat source and a heat sink for a reversible heat pump in the examined system. Due to the reduced electricity consumption from the network for heat rejection, the overall efficiency was improved by using a reversible water-to-water heat pump as heat and cold source compared to a conventional solar cooling system. Primary energy savings can be achieved with a maximum utilization of PV for electricity, heating and cooling (as air conditioning). The paper presents an original methodology for determining the environmental impact of the real PVT operation. The case study shows that for a real 4kWp PVT, the yearly energy savings reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with 281.8 kg/year for SO2 and 152.4 for CO2.","PeriodicalId":330949,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. This list should include at least the purposes of the processing, the target data and all the parties involved in handling that data. We present a solution for organizing all these information into both relational and non-relational document-oriented databases to facilitate such reports. A technical approach of auditing the implementation degree of the rules introduced by the EU GDPR will better prepare the data controllers in complying to this Regulation. We consider a top-down methodology for processing raw data addressing several types of organizations, with different organizational structures. For all these entities we focus on processes, activities, classes of documents collected and personal data. All these data constitute the basis of the “Records of processing activities” required by the Regulation.","PeriodicalId":330949,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. We argue and prove that malicious activities such as vulnerabilities exploitation and (D)DoS on Web applications can be detected during their respective initial phases. While they may seem distinct, both attack scenarios are observable through abnormal access patterns. Following on this remark, we first analyze Web access logs using association rule mining techniques and identify these malicious traces. This new description of the historical data is then correlated with Web site structure information and mapped over trie data structures. The resulted trie is then used for every new incoming request and we thus identify whether the access pattern is legitimate or not. The results we obtained using this proactive approach show that the potential attacker is denied the required information for orchestrating successful assaults.","PeriodicalId":330949,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. The decrease of the interval of presence of residual bus voltage depends highly on the local load and the network configuration. A high time constant (seconds) of the decreasing residual voltage can lead to the disconnection of critical consumers. In this paper, it is presented a simple, cost-effective method for dynamic load transfer that can replace the Motor Bus Transfer approach. The validity of the method is tested on a real large industrial site from Romania. The case study shows that the proposed approach can achieve a voltage return time of around 750 ms.","PeriodicalId":330949,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. This climate warming coincides with the increasing of the greenhouse gases concentration in the atmosphere, especially carbon dioxide.
