For this purpose, L9 orthogonal array was successfully used for better yield estimation by using Minitab-18 software. Different process variables like molar ratio, catalyst concentration, reaction time and reaction temperature were studied. A predicted yield of 92.06 % was achieved by regression analysis by maintaining the process variables of molar ratio 5:1 (methanol to oil), 4 grams of catalyst concentration (NaOH), 180 minutes of reaction time and 44°C of reaction temperature. Experimentations were conducted on the same process variables and achieved a yield of 91.65 %. By this it is clear that both experimentation and regression analysis by Taguchi are in good agreement with an error of 0.41 % which may be acclaimed as experimental error. The fatty acid compositions (FAC) were also analyzed and it is found that 37.12 % saturated and 62.88 % unsaturated fatty acids present in the palm methyl ester (PME). By using the FAC of PME the Cetane number was predicted as 55.38. The predicted Cetane number from FAC tally with experimental Cetane number. The PME is characterized for different fuel properties by following the international standards. And it is concluded that catalyst concentration and reaction temperature are the important parameters which influence PME yield, Taguchi based optimization technique will helps in predicting the maximum yield with minimum number of experiments.","PeriodicalId":32958,"journal":{"name":"Mathematical Models in Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48731421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then the steering lateral force on bit was obtained after the motion equation was solved. The relation between the bit steering force and the pads offset pointing towards the high side direction of the borehole was gotten and the effects of the rotary speed on the bit lateral steering force were analyzed. Results showed that the near-bit stabilizer would contact the wellbore wall with the increasing of the pads offset, resulting in an inflection point presenting on the relation curve between the bit inclination force and the pads offset value. The larger pads offset value was, the more concentrated bit side cutting would be. Rotary speed had a small effect on time average of the bit lateral steering force but could enlarge the action range on both sides of the high side direction of the borehole.","PeriodicalId":32958,"journal":{"name":"Mathematical Models in Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47039092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Control problems involves determination of control forces and moments applied in manipulator joints that will ensure movements along a certain defined trajectory. Trajectory design is the basis for the manipulator control process. This problem is quite complex because the manipulator is a connected system in which the movement of a member affects the movement of other. Therefore, in following is presented a method for forces and moments determination in kinematic joints of a three-member manipulator analytically and also by using simulation dynamical model in the Matlab/Simulink program package. The friction forces in the kinematics joints are not taken into account.","PeriodicalId":32958,"journal":{"name":"Mathematical Models in Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42453927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The governing equations are linear differential equations with variable coefficients and the Wentzel, Kramers, Brillouin approximation is adopted for solving these eigenvalue equations and determining the natural frequencies and mode shapes. This method relates the solution of equations with the solving of some successive algebraic equations. A parametric study is performed and the effects of different profiles and different combinations of boundary conditions on the natural frequencies are investigated. To confirm the reliability of the present method, the analytical results are checked with those obtained from the finite elements method and other literatures which are found to be in a good agreement. The calculations show that the presented procedure is very effective to find the modal characteristics of the varying cross-sections beams.","PeriodicalId":32958,"journal":{"name":"Mathematical Models in Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44801481","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
