In order to effectively suppress the vertical vibration of the rolling equipment, the rolling mill model with vibration absorber device was established. Based on the main resonance singularity of the rolling mill system, the best combination of opening parameters was obtained. The best combination of opening parameters helps the rolling mill system work in a stable area. Finally, the effects of different vibration absorber parameters on the vibration characteristics of the rolling mill system were analyzed. Results show that the vibration absorber device can effectively improve the stability of the rolling mill system.","PeriodicalId":32958,"journal":{"name":"Mathematical Models in Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47511845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, L9 orthogonal array was successfully used for better yield estimation by using Minitab-18 software. Different process variables like molar ratio, catalyst concentration, reaction time and reaction temperature were studied. A predicted yield of 92.06 % was achieved by regression analysis by maintaining the process variables of molar ratio 5:1 (methanol to oil), 4 grams of catalyst concentration (NaOH), 180 minutes of reaction time and 44°C of reaction temperature. Experimentations were conducted on the same process variables and achieved a yield of 91.65 %. By this it is clear that both experimentation and regression analysis by Taguchi are in good agreement with an error of 0.41 % which may be acclaimed as experimental error. The fatty acid compositions (FAC) were also analyzed and it is found that 37.12 % saturated and 62.88 % unsaturated fatty acids present in the palm methyl ester (PME). By using the FAC of PME the Cetane number was predicted as 55.38. The predicted Cetane number from FAC tally with experimental Cetane number. The PME is characterized for different fuel properties by following the international standards. And it is concluded that catalyst concentration and reaction temperature are the important parameters which influence PME yield, Taguchi based optimization technique will helps in predicting the maximum yield with minimum number of experiments.","PeriodicalId":32958,"journal":{"name":"Mathematical Models in Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48731421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then the steering lateral force on bit was obtained after the motion equation was solved. The relation between the bit steering force and the pads offset pointing towards the high side direction of the borehole was gotten and the effects of the rotary speed on the bit lateral steering force were analyzed. Results showed that the near-bit stabilizer would contact the wellbore wall with the increasing of the pads offset, resulting in an inflection point presenting on the relation curve between the bit inclination force and the pads offset value. The larger pads offset value was, the more concentrated bit side cutting would be. Rotary speed had a small effect on time average of the bit lateral steering force but could enlarge the action range on both sides of the high side direction of the borehole.","PeriodicalId":32958,"journal":{"name":"Mathematical Models in Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47039092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The improper vibration of a structure adversely affects human comfort. To explore the effects of crowds on lateral structural properties, a pedestrian from a crowd is simulated by a walking bipedal robot. A simplified theory for structural vibration is proposed based on the assumptions of uniform distribution and synchronized walking of pedestrians. This theory can be used to describe the effect of the change in crowd size on lateral structural damping and the frequency of the structure. The method can estimate the variations in structural properties in the case of a certain crowd for engineering design. The results show that the increase in crowd size results in decrease in structural natural frequency in the lateral direction, but increases structural damping. The influence of the crowd on structural properties agrees well with the non-simplified model. Change in walking frequency has little influence on the structural properties. However, the continuous increase in crowd size on structure top causes a non-convergent amplification of dynamic response under a resonant walking excitation. This research provides a quantitative assessment on the effect of crowd size on the change in structural properties for structural design or serviceability evaluation.","PeriodicalId":32958,"journal":{"name":"Mathematical Models in Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45646342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
