But how to select students with professional qualifications by predicting academic performance after admission is a problem requiring an urgent solution. This paper analyzed the academic achievements and registration datasets of students admitted by Wenzhou Medical University via TCEE and established a classifier by using a decision tree, support vector machine and Bayesian network. A nested integrated studying method was then adopted and accuracy, precision, recall, and specificity indicators were used to evaluate model performance. Model performance of the bagged classifier for nested decision tree was found the most suitable. Findings are conducive to optimizing the selection scheme of the TCEE and improving managerial decision making.","PeriodicalId":328771,"journal":{"name":"2021 5th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114923458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

TikTok is one of the most-used social media platforms due to its feature that allows users to express themselves via creating and sharing short-form videos based on any desired topic and content. In addition, it has also become a platform for political discourse and mudslinging as users can freely express an opinion and indirectly debate with random people online. In this study, we propose the use of BERT, a complex bidirectional transformer-based model, for the task of automatic hate speech detection from speech transcribed from Tagalog TikTok videos. Results of our experiments show that a BERT-based hate speech classifier scores 61% F1. We also extended the task beyond several algorithms such as LSTM, Naïve Bayes, and Decision Tree and found out that traditional methods such as a simple Bernoulli Naïve Bayes approach remain at par with the BERT model.","PeriodicalId":328771,"journal":{"name":"2021 5th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132406647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the past two decades, there has been a growing number of studies of technology-based interventions for atypical sensory responses of individuals with ASD. However, their effects and limitations have not been fully examined. This systematic review investigates the effects of sensory-based technologies (SBTs) on atypical sensory responses of children with ASD. Publications that report on the use of a SBT as an intervention tool were retrieved from four academic databases: “PubMed”, “IEEE Xplore”, “ACM Digital Library” and “Web of Science”. The search finally yielded 18 articles. The results indicated an emerging trend of studies investigating the effects of SBTs on atypical sensory responses over the past decade. Challenges and limitations were found in studies, mainly because the literatures adopted different methods and indicators, small sample sizes, and varying experimental designs. Findings were that the use of SBTs could effectively improve auditory and visual recognition, and some other behavioural outcomes such as attention in children with ASD. Future development of SBTs could further integrate more advanced techniques, such as machine learning, in order to widen the scope of SBTs usage to help more ASD children.","PeriodicalId":328771,"journal":{"name":"2021 5th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"254 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134329678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A quantitative methods approach is used in this study to explore and examine factors influencing consumers’ continuance intention of a subscription box. The investigation explores the question, how to influence consumer continuance intention to use subscription boxes? We distribute questionnaires to subscription box consumers in the U.K., Europe, Oceania, Middle East and Africa, America, and Asia. Moreover, we applied structural equation modeling by PLS for data analysis and tested the model with survey data from 176 consumers. The results show that perceived variety, perceived convenience, perceived enjoyment, and variety-seeking tendencies significantly influence consumer continuance intention mediating by satisfaction. While value for money perceived surprise, personalization, and consumer innovativeness has no significance. The findings have practical implications for sellers and companies, directing what variables to concentrate on to improve the subscription box’s consumer continuance intention.","PeriodicalId":328771,"journal":{"name":"2021 5th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115384371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to investigate this association by comparing 30 club participants’ EAP experience with 30 non-participants at a Vietnamese educational institution. Amixed-methods research design was employed with two data collection instruments: a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. Statistical results from the questionnaire computed by SPSS software revealed no statistically significant differences between two groups in academic studies. In-depth interviews provided further true reasons for EAP indicators in the quantitative data (e.g., time on homework, lateness for school, skipping classes, and missing sessions) and showed that the main difference between the two groups lied in time spent on assignments. The integration of both data pinpointed that EAP made an impact on ECA participants, mainly on time spent on homework while no connections with other indicators were found.","PeriodicalId":328771,"journal":{"name":"2021 5th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"235 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122516169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, it is usually difficult to discover a steady continuous time model to calculate and predict the precise price of an European option. This paper summarizes the meaning of the trinomial tree pricing model, and based on this, from the two aspects of the call option and the put option, obtains the pricing method in line with the characteristics of European options by mathematical deduction. By means of calculating the expectation of certain option to predict a more general conclusion. At last, several potential no-arbitrage prices in different conditions are given in this work, and the deduction formulas of related variables are shown in the conclusions. All options mentioned in this article are options of stocks.","PeriodicalId":328771,"journal":{"name":"2021 5th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115231830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of Filipino Sign Language (FSL) has contributed to the improvement of communication of deaf people, however, the majority of the population in the Philippines do not understand FSL. This project utilized computer vision in obtaining the images and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) ResNet architecture in building the automated FSL recognition model, with the goal of bridging the communication gap between the deaf community and the hearing majorities. In the experimentation, the dataset used are static images generated from a signer which gestured Filipino number signs which range from (0-9). Based on experimentation, the best-achieved performance is on fine-tuned ResNet-50 model which obtained a validation accuracy as high as 86.7% when the epoch value equals 15. For future work, real-time FSL recognition will be implemented and more data will be collected to enable recognition of Filipino alphabets, basic phrases, and common greetings.","PeriodicalId":328771,"journal":{"name":"2021 5th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126424174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the increasing frequent cross-language and cultural communication, this method has attracted more and more attention around the world. Based on the research content and the origin characteristics and value of language learning methods, this study presents the basic operation mode of such a teaching approach, analyzes the challenges of its application in Chinese regions, and puts forward countermeasures to solve the problems. This research believes that the key to implementing integrated learning of teaching content and language in the Chinese language area is the need to effectively improve learners’ English communicative competence in the field of professional knowledge, which aims to achieve a state of free input and output between the native language and English. It is found that the teaching model of content and language integrated learning is still a relatively new concept for Chinese language-speaking areas. Therefore, this study put forwards that the development of teacher pre-service training, teaching material design, and teaching curriculum design challenges are still the main factors restricting the development of this teaching model. This research suggests that it is an effective way for subject teachers to actively interact with students through curriculum design, create opportunities for them to think and express independently, and further guide learners to explore their ability of self-cognition and knowledge digestion and absorption. The teaching approach of integrating content and language learning is of great significance to promote students' foreign language learning and understanding of foreign cultures in Chinese language areas.","PeriodicalId":328771,"journal":{"name":"2021 5th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114158599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A course, namely “Computer Systems and Principles of Programming for Pharmaceutical and Health Informatics” in Master Degree of Pharmacy (Health Informatics), was redesigned to improve learning outcomes. The programming module was set in the second part of the course after a midterm examination with the classical course structure. Therefore, there was no time left to assign an advanced project to students. When the programming module shifted to the upper part, students could spend self-study time of the lower module to create more advanced applications in pharmacy and health. Digital problem-based learning (DPBL) was applied to support students and instructors to communicate and collaborate their work in the real production environment. The course structure was redesigned in the 2020 academic year which the COVID-19 situation has interrupted the real face-to-face learning. Therefore, the full DPBL was used. In addition, a set of tools were introduced to students for working in the fully DPBL. After the course was finished, an evaluation of the applications from students was done by three instructors. Students could deliver more advanced web applications from DPBL than those from the simple assignments in the classical course structure. Furthermore, the redesigned course structure and DPBL were evaluated by students. The results suggested that the redesigned course structure and DPBL were used, and skills in programming languages were increased.","PeriodicalId":328771,"journal":{"name":"2021 5th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121118130","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
