Peak detection will be performed during the common task of DNA gel image analysis which is lane detection. In this study, the peaks of the profile represent the gaps between lanes. Due to the poor quality and inconsistent pattern of the images, the detection of true peaks become a challenge to automate the analysis of the DNA gel images. To resolve the problem, a set of threshold value was applied in the peak detection process to eliminate the false peaks. Fifty images with total of 2,164 lanes suffered from various noise and artefacts were used to evaluate the proposed false peak elimination scheme. Number of lanes in individual image varies, ranging from 36 to 50 lanes. The results showed that the sensitivity and precision was 99% and the latter was 93% with an accuracy of 96%.","PeriodicalId":328479,"journal":{"name":"2014 14th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129594343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, many researches have been done on resources sharing among users through implementation of ontologies. Knowledge in an ontology are represented in the form of triple(s-p-o), where concepts are brought together by a relation. In a situation where there is a need to represent a resource which exist without IRI, blank node can be implemented in placed of the resource. Increase number of blank nodes implemented will increase the complexity of ontology structure. Since it is impossible to avoid blank nodes implementation in the ontology, increase used of it might lead to the intractable of data during the information retrieval. This paper presents a new clause-based structure that able to handle N-ary, container, collection and reified knowledge issues brought by the blank node application. The result shows that the structure able to store complicated knowledge without the need to implement blank node.","PeriodicalId":328479,"journal":{"name":"2014 14th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications","volume":"123 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127049387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This include images that are kept on digital cameras, CCTV and medical scanners. Areas such as medical and forensic science are using these databases to do critical tasks which include diagnosing of diseases or identification of criminal suspects. However, to manage and search the similar images from these databases are not an easy task. Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) is one of the techniques used to manage and search similar images from a database. The performance of CBIR depends on the low level (Texture, Color and Shape) features. In this paper, a new feature vector to represent the image in terms of low level features and to improve the performance of CBIR is proposed. The proposed approach used texture and color feature namely SFTA-CLD. SFTA-CLD is based on Segmentation-based Fractal Texture Analysis (SFTA) and Color Layout Descriptor (CLD). SFTA-CLD is assessed using Coral image gallery and validated by comparing the performance in terms of average precision with previous CBIR techniques.","PeriodicalId":328479,"journal":{"name":"2014 14th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130735972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Namely we introduce several Algorithms and program constructions that allow us to implement non-trivial intention and substitution selection. Intention selection is based on a heuristics that estimates possible plan execution, based on current agent's state, and then we search for the best action consensus between particular intentions, which are then selected for execution. Substitution selection is based on searching biggest consensus of intention environments to achieve largest possible set of simultaneously covered actions. We also present a case study that shows benefits of our approach.","PeriodicalId":328479,"journal":{"name":"2014 14th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124902031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike solving a single-objective problem, solving a MOP requires that many conflicting objectives be optimized altogether at the same time. Since most MOPs are NP-hard, how to find an approximate solution using a limited computation resource has become an active research topic in recent years. In this paper, we present a high-performance algorithm for solving the MOP that leverages the strengths of firefly algorithm and non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II). To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we apply it to several MOPs. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can essentially provide a better result than all the state-of-the-art multi-objective optimization algorithms compared in this paper in most cases.","PeriodicalId":328479,"journal":{"name":"2014 14th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123618270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many results on the state feedback control design have been given in the literature. In the actual situation, however, the state of the system is rarely measured and the output feedback control design is desired. In this paper, guaranteed cost control via output feedback control for fuzzy systems is considered and a control design of stabilizing controllers with guaranteed cost is proposed. The stability analysis of the closed-loop system and controller design are given in terms of LMI conditions, which are less conservative than the existing results.","PeriodicalId":328479,"journal":{"name":"2014 14th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134287750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wireless sensor network is created by rather small nodes, which have limited computing power. They also have small batteries that ensure only limited time to run. There is need to create applications for wireless sensor networks that will be aware of these limitations. For modelling application for such a sensor network there is useful to have a common framework that will ensure usage of the best practises for creating an application for the network. We have created methodology to provide the framework for creating an energy efficient application. Most of the complex problems can be modeled as the mTSP and then be solved. The mTSP is a NP-Complete one; therefore, it is not possible to use the exact algorithms for solving it instead the heuristics methods are often applied for solving such problems. In this paper, a new hybrid algorithm, called GELS-GA, has been presented for solving the mTSP. The utility of GELS-GA is compared with some related works such as GA and ACO and achieves optimality even in highly complex scenarios. Although, the proposed algorithm is simple, it includes an appropriate time of completion and the least traversed distance among existing algorithms.","PeriodicalId":328479,"journal":{"name":"2014 14th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121448651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
