The model can be used as a method for fast and efficient feasibility studies of air cooling for PMSM motors in hybrid-electric or all-electric aviation applications, supplementing further research (thermal resistance networks, and FEA/CFD-CHT models). In the paper, authors provide temperature distributions along the fin height which are calculated and presented for a straight fin, followed by heat transfer rate from fin surface and fin efficiency. A parameter to compare different fin materials for aviation applications is introduced – heat transfer rate from the fin to fin mass ratio. Aluminum and copper fins are compared. Different shapes of straight fin are considered and compared. The above parameters and comparison are then calculated and given for circular fins. Parameters of the whole fin-based air cooling system for specific 140 kW PMSM motor are calculated and presented.","PeriodicalId":32811,"journal":{"name":"JEMMME Journal of Energy Mechanical Material and Manufacturing Engineering","volume":"140 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77615418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, the world approaches such intricate realistic life problems using traditional methods which has failed to offer robust solutions. In recent times, researchers look beyond classical techniques. There is a model shift from the use of classical techniques to the use of standardized intelligent biological systems or evolutionary biology. Genetic Algorithm (GA) has been recognized as a prospective technique capable of handling uncertainties and providing optimized solutions in diverse area, especially in homes, offices, stores and industrial operations. This research is focused on the appraisal of GA and its application in real life problem. The scenario considered is the application of GA in 0-1 knapsack problem. From the solution of the GA model, it was observed that there is no combination that would give the exact weight or capacity the 35 kg bag can carry but the possible range from the solution model is 34 kg and 36 kg. Since the weight of the bag is 35 kg, the feasible or near optimal solution weight of items the bag can carry would be 34 kg at benefit of 16. Additional load beyond 34 kg could lead to warping of the bag.","PeriodicalId":32811,"journal":{"name":"JEMMME Journal of Energy Mechanical Material and Manufacturing Engineering","volume":"62 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86067540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this simplification may result in errors if the actual conditions differ from the assumptions made. The paper presents the problem of dry air density and specific heat capacity variation and their influence on calculated energy use for space heating in a multifamily building. The monthly calculation method of PN-EN ISO 13790 was used. Simulations were performed in five cities, each in one climatic zone according to PN-EN 12831. Variation of the air density caused by air temperature and elevation resulted in differences in calculated heating demand from -4.5% to 4.5% in relation to that at constant volumetric heat capacity assumed in PN-EN ISO 13790. specific heat capacity. But varying outdoor conditions cause these parameters to change. This paper presents an assessment of the impact of the air density on the ventilation heat loss and resulting heating demand of a multifamily residential building in five cities, each in different Polish climatic zone. Calculations were performed using the monthly method of [10]. The ventilation heat loss was determined at capacity of of 1200 3 ∙ K, imposed in that and comparatively at monthly outdoor air temperatures from monthly weather data.","PeriodicalId":32811,"journal":{"name":"JEMMME Journal of Energy Mechanical Material and Manufacturing Engineering","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74220411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This new combination of material provides specific desired properties when combined with various reinforcement materials like SiC, B 4 C, Al 2 O 3 , MgO etc., It is widely used in various industries like aerospace, automobile and marine industries. This property specific tailorable metal matrix composite with Al7075 as the base material can be fabricated using various techniques such as stir casting, high end ball milling, ultrasonic assisted casting, powder metallurgy, squeeze casting friction stir casting etc., out of which stir casting method is preferred by many researchers as stir casting method is seen to provide better distribution of reinforcement particles throughout the metal matrix. It is evident from the research of various authors that when the base material Al7075 is reinforced with the above-mentioned ceramic, it is found that there is a decrease in density and increase in hardness, compressive strength and wear resistance. Here, both physical and mechanical behaviour of aluminium reinforced composites with the effect of the particle size changes, effects after reinforcement and other processing and fabrication methods have been discussed.","PeriodicalId":32811,"journal":{"name":"JEMMME Journal of Energy Mechanical Material and Manufacturing Engineering","volume":"117 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77043460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A popular pure water production factory, Iterlene industrial services limited (IISL) located at Effurun, Nigeria was investigated and it was noticed that different sizes of jobs (bottled water) are produced ranging from 25 cl, 50 cl, 60 cl, 75 cl, and 150 cl respectively, which are processed through the filling machine (FM1) and capping machine (CM2). In the order FM1CM2. Each job has to pass through the same sequence of operations. Jobs are assigned in such a way that a job is assigned on FM1 first and once processing is completed on FM1, it is assigned to CM2 and passing is not allowed. The idle time for the production of 500 bottles of water was estimated to be 1020 seconds (17.00 mins.). Johnson’s algorithm was applied to minimize the idle time for both FM1 and CM2 by determining the optimal sequence of the processed jobs. This was achieved within 780 seconds (13.00 mins.). Conclusively, the minimization of total elapsed time between the completion of first and last job was achieved. This would greatly improve productivity, effectiveness, and profitability at iterlene factory.","PeriodicalId":32811,"journal":{"name":"JEMMME Journal of Energy Mechanical Material and Manufacturing Engineering","volume":"101 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77424117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are some aspect that most influence in aircraft design lift, drag, thrust, and weight. The combination of these aspects leads to a decrease in fuel consumption, which reduces pollution in our atmosphere and increase in economic revenue. One way to improve aircraft performance is to modify the tip of the wing geometry, which has become a common sight on today’s airplanes. With computational programs, the effects on drag due to wingtip devices can be previewed. This research was done numerically by using turbulence model k-ω SST. Reynolds number in this research was 2,34 x 10 4 with angle of attacks are 0o, 2o, 4o, 6o, 8o, 10o, 12o, 15o, 17o and 19o. The model specimen is wing airfoil Eppler 562 with winglets. Two types of wingtips are used: forward and rearward wingtip fence. From this study, it was found that wingtip fence reduced the strength of vorticity magnitude on the x axis compared to plain wings. The leakage of fluid flow effect at the leading edge corner of the wingtip, giving pressure gradient and slightly shifting towards the trailing edge. this occurs in the plain wing and rearward wingtip fence but does not occur in the forward wingtip fence..","PeriodicalId":32811,"journal":{"name":"JEMMME Journal of Energy Mechanical Material and Manufacturing Engineering","volume":"74 2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83365520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vegetable oil is the strongest candidate to replace the fossil energy. However, the use of vegetable oil directly as fuel is limited by high viscosity. Viscosity like this results in non-ideal atomization, challenging to evaporate, and cannot burn completely. Among the methods that have been studied by previous researchers and which have proven to be effective, cheaper, and can reduce the viscosity of vegetable oils better is the mixing method. In this study, corn oil was mixed with areca extract as an additive. Areca extract contains polyphenols which are polar types of epicatechin. Epicatechin has three aromatic rings and several hydroxyl groups. Delocalisation of electrons in aromatic rings can produce London forces on vegetable oil molecules, thereby increasing the reactivity of burning vegetable oil droplets. The burning characteristics of corn vegetable oil affected by areca extract have been studied experimentally at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The results showed that the rate and temperature of combustion increased, as well as the presence of micro explosions. The London force that appears causes the bonds in the triglyceride molecules to weaken so that the combustion becomes reactive, the rate of heat transfer in the droplets gets better, facilitates the appearance of micro explosions and increases the combustion temperature. Current technological developments are very influential in the development of investment casting. One of them has been found mold-lay filament as a substitute for wax, which is now wax is one of the main components in investment casting process. Mold-lay filament is printed using a 3D Printer machine. In this study, the wax in the investment casting process was replaced by a mold-lay filament with the specifications 0.75kg / 0.55 lb of 1.75mm MOLDLAY filament, prints at temperatures of 170-180 ° C. The result show that  mold-lay flutes are also able to come out well from slurry molds, but require more time than wax, this is because one of the plastic mold-lay compositions, which takes a long time for the moldlay fillment to come out of the mold.
