The multi-band performance resulted from the high-order modes of the spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs), which has been verified through the dispersion curves and surface electric fields. The cutoff frequency of each band of the filter corresponded to different order of modes of the asymptotic frequency of the SSPPs, which could be tuned by the depth of the groove at will. This simple multi-band plasmonic filter has potential applications in plasmonic circuits and systems.","PeriodicalId":327814,"journal":{"name":"2016 11th International Symposium on Antennas, Propagation and EM Theory (ISAPE)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128489017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a hexagonal structure reconfigurable filter which operates at five different frequencies. The resonant characteristics of stepped impedance resonator (SIR) is utilized by equaling the transmission line of low impedance to multiple parallel lines of high impedance. And four PIN diodes are loaded to control the access state of equivalent lines of high impedance. The filter operates at 2GHz, 2.3GHz, 2.5GHz, 2.7GHz and 3GHz, with 3dB absolute bandwidth of constant 100MHz. The UWB nature is generated by the stepped slot radiators and a pair of differential stepped CPW feeding lines. When two ports of the antenna are fed with common-mode signals, the radiator cannot be excited and common-mode suppression is obtained. Moreover, a pair of U-shaped slits and stubs are etched on the CPW lines and stepped slots to earn a notch band characteristic. Then, to validate the presented antenna, a prototype antenna is fabricated and tested. The proposed antenna shows experimentally differential reflection coefficients −10 dB bandwidth of 122.6% (2.54–10.6 GHz). A measured band notch at 5.1–5.9 GHz for WLAN band is also obtained. Moreover, the common-mode suppression within the operating band better than 1.5 dB is achieved. All the results shows that the proposed antenna can be widely used in UWB wireless communication systems, medical imaging systems and vehicular radars.","PeriodicalId":327814,"journal":{"name":"2016 11th International Symposium on Antennas, Propagation and EM Theory (ISAPE)","volume":"348 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116497094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
