The top-loaded technology can both be used to reduce the profile of the wire form quadrifilar helix antenna and the printed form. An S-band top-loaded quadrifilar helix antenna has been simulated and possesses the characteristic of wide beam width, high gain at the low elevation, good circular polarization performance and the low profile. This low profile antenna can be an attractive candidate for handset applications.","PeriodicalId":327814,"journal":{"name":"2016 11th International Symposium on Antennas, Propagation and EM Theory (ISAPE)","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115000236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The top layer is a substrate which holds up the AFSS. The second layer is an AFSS, which is composed of a frequency selective surface (FSS) and some PIN diodes. The third layer is an insulator composed of foam material. Reflectance measurement shows that the reflection characteristic of the AFSS absorber could be effectively controlled by adjusting the dc voltage of the PIN diode. In addition, the reflectivity could be dynamically adjusted by sine wave. When the frequency of the sine wave was 100 KHz, 1 MHz or 5 MHz, the reflectivity of AFSS could be less than 𢀒10 dB at the frequency band of 3.2∼5.6 GHz.","PeriodicalId":327814,"journal":{"name":"2016 11th International Symposium on Antennas, Propagation and EM Theory (ISAPE)","volume":"19 31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123785584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
