A large number of integration formulas have been published especially for solving special systems of differential equations. In general, it was not possible to choose the best method but for a subclass of tasks defined by similar properties the most suitable method could always be found. The presented ``Modern Taylor Series Method'' has proved to be both very accurate and fast. It is based on a direct use of the Taylor series. The main idea behind the Modern Taylor Series Method is an automatic integration method order setting, i.e. using as many Taylor series terms for computing as needed to achieve the required accuracy.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"142 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132637954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We exploit an original procedure to enlarge the domain of attraction of a nonlinear affine system based on the Zubov Theorem. Then we construct control Lyapunov functions to various operating points of the studied process. A Lyapunov-based control synthesis algorithm is used to construct a control law that guarantees stability and high precision along the desired trajectory. We demonstrate the performances of the control design procedure on a second order nonlinear chemical reactor CSTR model characterized by multiple operating points. A simulation study is developed to show the efficiency of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130825751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analogue technique has, in general, three control states; they are the reset, operate, and hold states. The idea of analogue principles is used in our Taylor series integrators. Again, three control states are applied (reset, operate, hold) in our system. The only standard operational amplifier is replaced by digital elements. The paper provides a general description of the manner in which components are connected together in the mechanization of some relatively simple examples.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114227926","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) has become a mature technology over the past few years and has been widely implemented in several developed countries, evaluation of PACS success is still a major problem to healthcare organizations specially in developing countries. For that reason it was the aim of this research to introduce design considerations and solutions regarding the implementation and evaluation of a modern PACS within an already operating hospital environment in Sudan. The research proposed a strategy to smoothly transform an already existing hospital to a fully digital one and to integrate all existing medical equipments to a central archiving system with the ability to upgrade and expand as well as to connect with the other hospitals and health care organizations.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133300596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The SOM (Self Organizing Maps) maps high dimensional space into a 2-dimensional grid by placing similar elements close together, forming clusters. Recently research experiments presented that to capture the uncertainty involved in cluster analysis, it is not necessary to have crisp boundaries in some clustering operations. In this paper to overcome the uncertainty, an optimized clustering algorithm based on SOM which employs the rough set theory and the Simulated Annealing as a general technique for optimization problems is proposed. The optimized two-level stage SA-Rough SOM (Simulated Annealing – Rough Self Organizing Map) (first using SOM to produce the prototypes that are then clustered in the second stage based on the combination of rough set and simulated annealing) is found to perform well and more accurate compared with the crisp clustering methods (i.e. Incremental SOM) and reduces the errors.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133657450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Comparisons are made of the results obtained from this modelling with actual measurements made in an in-vitro model of the ‘GP’ MTD with an end mounted funnel structure used in experiments. There was good agreement between the theoretical modelling and the in-vitro measurements. Such a device (with its end mounted funnel structure) may be used to remove older blood clots in arteries. We conclude that the 3-D FLUENT modelling is useful in predicting the performance of such a funnelled device, prior to actual construction of the finalised design.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133039376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, one of the key issues faced by enterprises within a supply chain is the tendency for each component in the supply chain to have different goals – particularly since each component is very often an autonomous business unit. This situation can, and very often does, result in a lack of integration, coordination, communication and thus cooperation.This paper describes the use of agent based modeling techniques to investigate whether the distributed computing concept of Integrated Autonomy could also be promoted as a business strategy for managing agri-food supply chains in order to increase efficiencies and coordination across the chain. The results of modeling two different supply chain scenarios in both an industry and in an enterprise environment indicate that IA as a concept can be translated into a practical management strategy with associated performance metrics aimed at increasing efficiencies, coordination and communication across supply chains.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133345609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, because of its installation environment and its cost, it is not suitable for casual applications. This paper proposes a marker-based viewpoint recognition method, which calculates the position and direction of the viewpoint of a user who is looking at virtual objects. The virtual objects can then be appropriately located so that their position and orientation could meet the user’s view. A user standing in front of the projection system of this research can interactively review the shape of the object from different angles simply by moving the head with the marker, and even can check the internal view of the object. This paper presents the method and its demonstration, and discusses the feasibility of the proposed approach for casual applications.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121888702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, the use of streaming applications, e.g BBC I-Player, Youtube etc, over the network is becoming commonplace. These applications access data sequentially. However, as processor speed and the amount of memory available increase, the rate at which streaming applications access data is much faster than the rate at which the blocks can be fetched consecutively from the network storage. In addition to sequential access, the system also needs to satisfy demand misses. Therefore, there is a need to model these access patterns for network-based storage systems.In this paper, we attempt to develop an analytical model and an algorithm which will be used to investigate the operational boundaries under which streaming applications can run without jitter and demand misses can be satisfied in reasonable time.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121946362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
