Equipping a bike with smart sensors may provide additional data to complement personal fitness trackers. Previous research has shown that cycling cadence can be measured by IMUs, however, studies were based on expensive commercially available motion tracking development kits, tested in laboratory setup environments. The goal of this research was to investigate the possibilities of measuring the cycling cadence by means of lowcost and easy-to-integrate MEMS inertial measurement units (IMUs) and signal processing algorithms, suitable for running on low-power microcontroller architectures. Moreover, the measurement system was evaluated in realistic conditions on a paved and a pebble road to prove that cheaper IMU sensor alternatives may still achieve satisfactory results in the estimation of cycling parameters in real-life outdoor conditions.","PeriodicalId":327213,"journal":{"name":"2023 6th Conference on Cloud and Internet of Things (CIoT)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132770403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Deep Learning (DL) applications in BMI systems show a great improvement in the recognition rate. Nonetheless, the most popular brain signal, Electroencephalogram (EEG), contains multiple channels which sometimes contain redundancy information or noise which could influence the DL performance. Moreover, higher dimensions of data spend more time in computation leading to lower response time.In this paper, we propose the EEG channel optimization of wireless BMI-based robot interaction for internet of robotic things application using genetic algorithm. We have reduced the number of channels used in CNN’s computation learning to be more responsive to decoding. We also investigate the utilization of BMI by developing wireless interaction with actual robots.","PeriodicalId":327213,"journal":{"name":"2023 6th Conference on Cloud and Internet of Things (CIoT)","volume":" 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120830431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this new reality, data converted into knowledge is the main protagonist. However, the existence of heterogeneous technologies results in complex processes and ends up hindering the implementation of new environments. In order to simplify this casuistry, this work defines an agent-based system that integrates mature technologies for the intercommunication of devices and de facto standards such as Modbus, as well as state-of-the-art solutions related to fields such as Computer Vision and other low-cost ones, such as those provided by those based on IoT. Finally, a case study is proposed that focuses on a circular economy model that, taking advantage of the benefits of the described mechanisms and in a simple way, shows the possibility of generating a positive impact on the environment. Specifically, the case proposes mechanisms for processing and sorting waste components - lithium batteries - making it easier to give them a second life before they become permanent and highly polluting waste.","PeriodicalId":327213,"journal":{"name":"2023 6th Conference on Cloud and Internet of Things (CIoT)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127240348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is especially true for the management of cloud native applications and for anomaly detection in cyber-security mechanisms. However, it has been shown that ML is an attack surface on its own, especially when the attack is performed by another ML system. Noting this issue, we develop a testbed infrastructure with Infrastructure-as-Code principles, designed to support research in the area of cloud services vulnerability to massive attacks from unsecure Internet of Things botnets with ML devised strategies. The infrastructure is modular and can support different malware to create botnets and use different algorithms in both the defensive and offensive sides, provided they use the available data or extend the data collection. We also present some results from a scenario where the defense uses an autoencoder for detecting anomalies in the traffic patterns of IoT devices and the attacker uses a Contextual MultiArmed Bandit algorithm to penetrate this defense and induce resource waste on the cloud service behind it.","PeriodicalId":327213,"journal":{"name":"2023 6th Conference on Cloud and Internet of Things (CIoT)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128115763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The device has proven effective in the analysis of more than 200 batteries of different ratings, obtaining accurate results compared to a professional laboratory instrument. In addition, the device is able to perform this analysis quickly, efficiently and at low cost, making it a valuable tool for managing and optimising the use of these batteries. The device’s ability to enable the reuse of lithium batteries can have important implications for cost reduction and environmental protection. In the context of current high energy prices, the ability to store energy efficiently and at lower cost can be a significant advantage for many businesses and households.","PeriodicalId":327213,"journal":{"name":"2023 6th Conference on Cloud and Internet of Things (CIoT)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129901405","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although Collaborative Intrusion Detection Systems improve attack detection performance by providing mechanisms for sharing and correlating analysis data, existing solutions neglect the aspect of a scalable dissemination of monitoring data. In this context, we present a novel approach that distributes network flow data among members in a group of cooperating infrastructures to enhance local data views while meeting requirements for low communication overhead, privacy and interoperability. Flows are partitioned using Locality Sensitive Hashing and persisted in a local data store by using the respective hash values. Gaussian Mixture Models are fitted on stored flows and the resulting model parameters are sent to a global data store, enabling members to locally reconstruct the corresponding models from which synthetic data can be sampled to improve local attack detection. Representing local data as model parameters significantly reduces the amount of data exchanged and ensures privacy. Associated processing latency is reduced by exploiting the parallelization enabled by data partitioning. Traffic classification experiments on multiple network security datasets show the superior performance of our approach in comparison to alternative scenarios.","PeriodicalId":327213,"journal":{"name":"2023 6th Conference on Cloud and Internet of Things (CIoT)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117199261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, Legacy LoRaWAN cannot guarantee quality of service (QoS). However, a heterogeneous LoRaWAN network consists of several Internet of Things (IoT) applications that differ in their QoS requirements and can be classified into different priority levels This paper proposes an algorithm, called “spreading factor with priority” (SF-P), that aims to maximize the LoRaWAN network throughput while distinguishing between nodes in terms of priority. Simulation results show that SF-P improves the network throughput compared to Legacy LoRaWAN and respects the priority between different IoT applications.","PeriodicalId":327213,"journal":{"name":"2023 6th Conference on Cloud and Internet of Things (CIoT)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121069029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order for this vision to become a reality however, AVs must be proven to be safe to operate under any conditions (weather, traffic, other nonautonomous road users). To ensure safety, researchers all over the world overwhelmingly use a two-pronged testing approach, namely simulation and on-road driving. In this paper we propose a third, intermediate, testing environment using fully autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that realistically (in terms of behaviour) represent the involved actors (AVs, Pedestrians, cyclists, others) in any possible road scenario. Our proposed testing environment successfully addresses the fundamental problems found in existing AV testing testbeds, namely: cost, reproducibility, repeatability, time-consumption, physical world test automation, individual component testing, availability of realistic physical space for testing. Our proposed testbed was successfully demonstrated during the H2020 EU-funded SECREDAS project, using the underlying beXStream framework for autonomous UAVs.","PeriodicalId":327213,"journal":{"name":"2023 6th Conference on Cloud and Internet of Things (CIoT)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128246021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
