Elasticity imaging enjoys an ever increasing role in disease diagnosis. In elastography, tissue strain is estimated using signal processing. Strain is conventionally calculated from estimated displacements between the pre- and post-compression ultrasonic echo signals. In this paper, we introduce a novel 1.5D strain estimator. The proposed algorithm uses 1D windows for fast computation, but searches in the lateral direction to account for non-axial motion. The performance of our method outperforms traditional methods, especially in the presence of higher applied strain. The image quality also improves significantly.","PeriodicalId":325916,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129466749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we consider the Aliev-Panfilov reaction-diffusion system of PDE to understand the mechanism of ventricular fibrillation. It is known that the electrical activities of the heart cells create action potentials periodically. That is why we study the bifurcation analysis of periodic traveling waves (PTWs). We also determine the locus of solutions where the stable waves change their behavior. A stability change of Eckhaus type is observed in our outcomes. We compute the essential spectrum of the waves to comprehend these phenomena.","PeriodicalId":325916,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128212445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately most of them are supervised and semi-automatic in nature. In this paper, a complete unsupervised algorithm for BUS image segmentation algorithm using local intensity and texture histograms features has been proposed. The texture and intensity features are combined in the clustering process. Initially the image is filtered using a texture preserving de-noising filter. A new texture feature is extracted from the filtered image. Using these features, employing a non-parametric Bayesian clustering method, image is segmented. This clustering is completely unsupervised in nature as no seeding or learning is required for this algorithm. Qualitative and quantitative segmentation results of images from BUS image databases prove the competitiveness of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":325916,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130546100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sign language is the primary means of communication for them which normal people do not understand. In order to facilitate the conversation conversion of sign language to audio is very necessary. This paper aims at conversion of sign language to speech so that disabled people have their own voice to communicate with the general people. In this paper, Hand Gesture recognition is performed using HOG (Histogram of Oriented Gradients) for extraction of features from the gesture image and SVM (Support Vector Machine) as classifier. Finally, predict the gesture image with output text. This output text is converted into audible sound using TTS (Text to Speech) converter.","PeriodicalId":325916,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132955942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this process radiation is focused on the desired areas, ensuring appropriate temperature distribution without damaging the surrounding tissues. To effectively treat cancer, Slot coaxial antennas can be used for producing a heat absorption and temperature distribution model. In this work, it is has been demonstrated that when the antenna slot position is at 50% of the tumor higher SAR value (about 5.78 kW/kg peak SAR) and larger heat ablation area is achieved; while changing the slot position more good cells get destroyed but changing slot position also decreases temperature (The maximum temperature within the breast tissue is 203°C for 50% slot position for t = 2 min and for the same duration of time 156°C and 185°C were found for 25% and 75% slot position respectively). Lastly the results reveals that for the presented Slot Coaxial Antenna at 2.45GHz and 10W power; for optimized and efficient impact, the microwave heating should be continued for 2 min at 50% slot position; less time would not cover all the tumor cell and changing the slot position will result in damaging more good cells.","PeriodicalId":325916,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121815085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different techniques have been reported in literature to detect driver's drowsiness, but almost all the prevailing systems only alert the driver if drowsiness is detected. Consequently, the drowsy driver continues driving, with a high risk of devastating accident. In this paper, we proposed and verified an EEG based system which not only alerts the driver by alarm, but also puts the vehicle in semiautomatic parking mode by controlling fuel supply if drowsiness is detected. At the same time, it reports nearby police station by SMS which contains necessary information to take essential steps locating the vehicle. Stored EEG signals, obtained with wireless wearable headsets from numerous subjects in different conditions by different research groups, were used in this work. Power spectrum analyses were carried out in MATLAB to determine the dominant frequency components in the brain signals. The slow wave to fast wave ratios of EEG activities were assessed for a number of epochs to determine driver's drowsiness. GPS and GSM modules were used with Arduino MEGA for tracking, remote notification and servomotor control. Performance of the proposed system was evaluated by stored data which confirmed its feasibility and reliability.","PeriodicalId":325916,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122978269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Up to now, a simulation based approach has been pursued by many researchers and the practical results are obtained. As the progresses in the electrical engineering, the possibility that a wearable central blood-pressure gauge can be realized is increased. This study shows that the aorta model in the cardiovascular simulator can be equivalently transformed to the pressure transfer function and gives the feasibility of wearable central blood-pressure gauge.","PeriodicalId":325916,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec)","volume":"337 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115890256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The intention was to design a cost-effective robot which can work in the absence of a nurse, thus reducing overload on workers or solving staff shortage situations. This robot is also energy efficient and does not consume so much of power. The design chosen for the robot is such that it can move freely for its size and have user-friendly features for a hospital and patient to take care of his/her needs.","PeriodicalId":325916,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116997384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During rejoining the blocks, inverted block interchange, a more distinct form of block interchange, gives the option to the blocks to reverse their orientation. In this particular paper, we have presented an improved algorithm to sort circular chromosomes by inverted block interchanges and also compared the performances with a previous algorithm. Our experimental findings justify the fact that accommodation of inverted block interchange ensures results with equal or less number of series of operations in terms of block interchanges.","PeriodicalId":325916,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133985536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A basic MI classification involves different steps of signal processing such as pre-processing, spatial filter, feature extraction and classification. There are numerous combinations of these steps that we can explore to achieve the better result. In this work we have systematically compared different parameter settings for wavelet-based feature extraction in search for optimum performance. Our detailed experimental results illustrate how we can choose appropriate wavelet function, order, number of decomposition levels and finally selection of coefficient at different levels.","PeriodicalId":325916,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129969353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
