The importance of nosocomial infections makes it important for nurses to know and implement preventive measures during provision of nursing care. Objective: To analyze knowledge and attitudes of nurses about nosocomial infections. Material and methods: The research was conducted on a population of nurses and technicians employed at the General Hospital in Subotica. The sample included 44 participants. The research instrument was a questionnaire designed for the purposes of the research. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and hi-square test. Results: The definition of nosocomial infections was known to 68% of respondents, but only 50% of respondents knew that the hands of healthcare professionals were the most common way of spreading nosocomial infections. Basic preventive measures against nosocomial infections were familiar to 82% of respondents, and 95% of the respondents thought that nurses have important role in the control and prevention of nosocomial infections. Significantly more respondents who have more than 20 years of work experience thought that nurses do not have contribution in prevention and control of nosocomial infections (p=0.011). Conclusion: Most participants were familiar with the definition of nosocomial infections and basic preventive measures. It is necessary to improve the knowledge about the ways of spreading and the risks for the occurrence of nosocomial infections.","PeriodicalId":32587,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska rec","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86499069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is of particular importance for patients with type 2 diabetes, which is associated with an inadequate lifestyle and accounts for up to 90% of all diabetes. Structured education must consider the organizational and methodological conditions and criteria of the American Diabetes Association. Education can be realized as an individual, group, or combined form of work, with clearly defined goals and outcomes. The public health approach is focused on working in small groups, due to cost-effectiveness and efficiency, which may reach more participants. The education provider may be one or more healthcare professionals, as a team. Duration of education is an important success factor, with each hour of education are resulting in a 0.04% reduction in HbA1c levels. Consequently, education of more than 10 hours has the best results in the greatest number of participants. Interactive work, active patient involvement in education, problem-solving, and group discussions promote effective education and metabolic control. However, in addition to hiring healthcare professionals, successful education requires patient participation in a constant change in life habits, and this depends on many factors: personal attitudes, health beliefs, awareness of illness and health, skills, life priorities, financial resources, family support, workplace and community. Therefore, there is a need to empower patients, motivate them to act, develop and implement the recommended behavior in daily life, for the maintenance of good health and the prevention of long-term complications of diabetes.","PeriodicalId":32587,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska rec","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84226743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this success has created a challenge for health care professionals in addressing the issues that affect patients' sexuality. The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes and beliefs of students integrated studies of medicine and bachelor students, and professional studies of nursing care in terms of sexuality in cancer patients, and to determine the existence of differences between the two study groups involved in this research. Material and methods: The survey was conducted from November to December 2018, in the form of cross-sectional study and included a total of 116 medical students divided into two groups. For the purpose of assessment of students as a means bet using the questionnaire Sexuality Attitude and Belief Survey (SABS) by authors Reynolds K. and Magnan M.A. from 2005. Results: The highest percentage of nurses (91.4%) agree with the sentence to understand how to treat sexuality could affect the health of patients, while as many as 89.7% of this group of respondents disagreed with the sentence that sexuality is too personal problem to was discussed with patients. The highest percentage of medical students (74.1%) agreed with the sentence that most of the hospitalized patients are too sick to be interested in sexuality. The largest discrepancy (69%) was measured for a declaration under which students use their time to talk with patients about their sexual problems. Conclusion: Results of this study showed that there are no significant differences in attitudes be-tween students at both study groups.","PeriodicalId":32587,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska rec","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78750045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Barriers to maintaining a strict gluten-free diet arise due to several factors, the most common of which are: inadequate information, insufficient education about the disease, food contamination. Aim of the research: To determine the ways of informing parents about the celiac disease that has been diagnosed in their children, as well as to learn about the necessary procedures to improve information about gluten-free diet. Subjects and method: The study included a sample of 116 parents whose children are diagnosed with celiac disease and who are on a gluten-free diet. The place of research is the Institute for Maternal and Child Health of Serbia \"Dr Vukan Cupic\" in New Belgrade and the University Children's Clinic in Belgrade. The research instrument used is the Questionnaire on Parents' Awareness of Celiac Disease, which was created for the purposes of this research. Results with discussion: The results of the study show that 47.14% of parents of children with celiac disease ask for information about the proper nutrition of their children and gluten-free foods from the doctor of the institution where the child was diagnosed with the disease. In order to better understand the diagnosis of celiac disease in their child, 53.01% of parents most often chose to talk to the doctor who treats the child. Conclusion: Information on proper nutrition of children and gluten-free foods, as well as specific information on celiac disease, is requested from the doctor of the institution where the disease was diagnosed in the child and where they go for check-ups. Many complications caused by unrecognized celiac disease could be prevented by timely diagnosis and proper posture of the child, which contributes to good and adequate information.","PeriodicalId":32587,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska rec","volume":"103 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80312943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Resilience is the ability to cope with the negative situations in life. Purpose: To evaluate the extent of burnout syndrome in nursing teachers at medical high schools and the effect of the level of resilience on burnout syndrome. Material and methods: This cross-sectional study interviewed 101 nursing teachers at four medical schools. Teacher Burnout Scale, The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale and socio-demographic questionnaire have been used as instruments of the study. Results: The majority of nursing teachers had moderate symptom of burnout syndrome. The average result on the burnout scale was 56.1. Statistical analyzes showed that there is no statistically significant difference in the manifestation of burnout syndrome in teachers in relation to demographic characteristics (sex, marital status, years of work experience and subjects at medical school). By analysing the results of the two scales, it has been established that there is no statistically significant association between the burnout intensity and the degree of resilience in nursing teachers. Conclusion: The results of the study showed moderate level of burnout in nursing teachers. This may help as an encouragement to develop a strategy for preventing emergence of the burnout syndrome. The results will be useful for further research of burnout syndrome in nursing teachers.","PeriodicalId":32587,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska rec","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86830412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is still spreading on a global level, so the accurate global number of the infected or deceased from the COVID-19 disease is yet to be estimated or correctly counted. The nurses have always played a great role in the prevention and control of infections, isolations and public health protection. The nurses' work during the COVID-19 epidemic has created a history of nursing. Nurses have been on the front line of defense from the SARSCov-2 virus for over a year now and many of them are already on the edge of endurance, both mentally and physically. The professional security is the key for the work of nurses who are facing the danger of infection on a daily basis. The aim of this paper is to show the actions and measures taken by the nurses in Republika Srpska that could help in the decrease of the global transmission of the infection. Compared with some European countries and their fight with the epidemic, Republika Srpska has maintained the number of confirmed cases on a level which can be controlled. The prevention measures are the only thing that can stop the spread of this new infectious disease. In our biggest healthcare institution of a tertiary level, a large number of COVID procedures for nurses and other healthcare workers have been released. Nurses are, together with other healthcare professionals, actively involved in the interventions around the COVID-19 and will be one of the key factors that will stop the pandemic.","PeriodicalId":32587,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska rec","volume":"220 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89025423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

She also advised that a nurse should help helpless people who do not have the strength, desire, or knowledge to satisfy one or more of the basic human needs. Neurosurgical patients with the most severe quantitative disorder of consciousness certainly represent a particularly vulnerable group of patients, who have deficits in all domains of basic life needs. Goal: The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes of nurses about the strenous of health care procedures in comatose neurosurgical patients. Material and methods: The research was conducted at the Clinic for Neurosurgery, Clinical Center of Vojvodina as a descriptive cross-sectional study, by surveying 30 nurses. A modified questionnaire, by Marianne Neuberg, was used to assess the degree of complexity of conducting 19 health activities in patients with impaired consciousness concerning meeting their basic human needs, used is as a research instrument. Results: The results show that the nursing procedures of maintaining personal hygiene, movement and positioning of patients are considered by about 90% of nurses to be very demanding. Similar results were obtained for nursing procedures in the domains of communication, religious and religious needs. Only 4% of nurses believe that providing informational and psychological support and support to the family is not a required health care procedure. Conclusion: The nurses' attitudes indicated that the most demanding procedures for them are the provision of mental and physical care, such as transfers and positioning of patients whose extremities are in spasm. A particular challenge for nurses is health care procedures aimed at providing support to family members.","PeriodicalId":32587,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska rec","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84558436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal: The goal is the evaluation of access, the quality and characteristics of the headache which occurs after the mild traumatic brain injury. Material and methods: The research has been done as a study section in the clinical center of Vojvodina, in the neurosurgery section. A survey questionnaire constructed for the purposes of this research was used as a research instrument. The survey questionnaire included twenty-one questions.. The norm for including respondents in the research was for them to be hospitalized patients with mild traumatic brain injury and the norm for determining how bad the injury was Glazgow's coma score was used. For determining the intensity of the headache the numeric pain rate scale from zero to ten was used. Results: The posttraumatic headache was present in all patients. Most of the respondents described the headache as dull pain of high intensity, 50% of them said that the headache is disturbing them while doing everyday activities and that the intensity of the pain is worst in the morning than at night. Also, some reported that bright light, thinking and talking increase the pain level. Conclusion: The data from this study indicate that headaches in patients after mild TBI can be a major problem in terms of their functional abilities. Thus, the primary focus of nurses should be on early detection and relief of these symptoms. We can also view this study as an initial step, which can affect nurses' practice, and thus the well-being of patients and society as a whole.","PeriodicalId":32587,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska rec","volume":"49 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85041541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The communication process between physiotherapist and patient is increasingly recognized as a therapeutic practice. Through communication interactions, physiotherapists can educate, motivate, empower, or release, express empathy or authority, show interest, or build confidence. In physiotherapy, as well as in other patient-oriented, biopsychosocial and related health care professions, a patient-centered communication approach has been established as guides and frameworks for practitioners to communicate with their patients. These communication models are used to share information as well as accountability but also to reduce power disparities between the physiotherapist and the patient. Accordingly, this communication model is specifically aimed at understanding the needs of patients and addressing them in order to maximize the perspective of each patient. Developing active patient-therapist collaboration creates a relationship defined as a \"therapeutic alliance\" characterized by empathy, trust, and respect. Many forms of treatment performed by physiotherapists cannot be successful without the patient's contribution and motivation to cooperate, both during and outside the communication interaction. communication skills have a positive effect on the patient's psychology and therefore physiology as they are inseparable, and the relationship between the physiotherapist and the patient during the rehabilitation process creates a sense of \"companionship\" on the path during which the patient is free from his or her physical, social and environmental limitations.","PeriodicalId":32587,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska rec","volume":"9 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89763315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kontinuitetom, pokazivanjem brige i zainteresovanosti za bolesnika, izgrađuje se odnos pun poverenja i sigurnosti, koji doprinosti boljoj saradnji i pozitivnijem ishodu celokupnog tretmana. U preoperativnoj pripremi, sestra sa bolesnikom sprovodi informativnu i terapijsku komunikaciju u svim fazama nege i lečenja. U svakodnevnom sestrinskom radu, komunikacija se odvija na mnogo relacija. Pored uspešne komunikacije sa bolesnikom, neizostavna je i podjednako važna saradnja između svih članova zdravstvenog tima. CILJ: Ispitati efikasnost komunikacije članova zdravstvenog tima sa bolesnikom u preoperativnoj pripremi. Materijal i metode: Istraživanjem je obuhvaćeno 55 operisanih bolesnika koji su prošli sve elemente preoprativne pripreme. Kao instrument za prikupljanje podataka korišćen je upitnik, specijalno kreiran za tu svrhu. Sprovedeno anketiranje je bilo anonimno, a svaki ispitanik je potpisao dobrovoljni informisani pristanak. REZULTATI: Najveći broj bolesnika je veoma zadovoljan svim dobijenim informacijama o bolesti, nezi, lečenju i planiranim intervencijama. Više od polovine bolesnika smatra da nije bilo otežavajućih faktora u komunikaciji sa medicinskim osobljem, dok 1/5 ispitanika smatra da medicinsko osoblje nema dovoljno vremena za komunikaciju sa bolesnicima. Ocena bolesnika za komunikaciju sa lekarima iznosi 4,87, a za komunikaciju sa medicinskim sestrama 4,82. ZAKLJUČAK: Komunikacija članova zdravstvenog tima i bolesnika u toku pripreme za operaciju kvalitetna je i doprinosi dobroj saradnji, većem zadovoljstvu i pozitivnijem ishodu.
