The Arab Spring phenomenon that occurred from 2010 to 2011 that demanded a revolution in Arab countries reaped crucial impacts in various countries including Indonesia in terms of political, social, religious, cultural, and educational issues. The research method used the technique of proportionate stratified random sampling and involved 300 respondents from several regions in North Sulawesi Province based on three categories, namely areas that had a strong Muslim urban culture, areas that had a thick Islamic tradition, and areas that had Muslim minority issues. The results showed that the value of tcalculation > ttable (6.768 > 1.971). The foregoing demonstrated that Ho was rejected. Thus, it could be concluded that the Arab Spring had an effect on the existence of Arabic learning in the multicultural region of North Sulawesi in terms of interest and motivation. It also affected the content of Arabic teaching materials as well as the purpose and orientation of Arabic learning on the importance of Arabic as a language identity and Arabic as a communication language. Hence, the reconstruction of Arabic learning led to an increase in communication skills that contained local wisdom.Keywords: Arab Springs, Arabic Language Learning, Multicultural Society","PeriodicalId":32566,"journal":{"name":"Arabiyatuna Jurnal Bahasa Arab","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88816271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pike’s tagmemic theory. This was a qualitative descriptive study. This study gathered data from an Arabic film entitled Ḏīb directed by Naji Abu Nowar. The data collection techniques used in this study were watching, translating, and note-taking techniques. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicated that there were four structures of intransitive independent clauses in the film “Ḏīb,” namely: (1) S + P consisted of three parts: The first was S + P. The second was the intransitive independent clause = NP + IVP. The third covered slot containing S + P, class which entailed NP + IVP, role that subsumed S + P, and cohesion without objects. (2) P + S + Adjunct (Adj – NP) comprised three parts. The first was P + S + Adj – NP. The second was the intransitive independent clause = IVP + NP1 + NP2. The third consisted of slot which contained P + S + Adj, class that subsumed IVP + NP1 + NP2, role which entailed P + S + Adj, and cohesion without objects. (3) P + S + Adjunct (Adj – PP) had three parts. The first was P + S + Adj – PP. The second was the intransitive independent clause = IVP + NP + PP. The third involved slot which entailed P + S + Adj, class that subsumed IVP + NP + PP, role comprised of P + S + Adj, and cohesion without objects. The performance of education personnel’s who are less adaptive to the advancement of science and technology is one of the problems faced by the world of education. The cause of this problem is that the education curriculum for education personnel’s is not relevant to the users’ changing needs. Hence, the higher education curriculum needs to be developed according to the demands of social change and the progress of today's science to realize a relevant curriculum. Data analysis was done through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of the study resulted in a curriculum model which refers to the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (IQF) based on prismatic science integration. This curriculum model is expected to produce master's graduates who are able to act as Arabic language teachers at the undergraduate level who are professional, innovative, and creative in developing Arabic language education through research and scientific publications and have Ulul Albab, Ulil Abshor, and Ulin Nuha characters that radiate in thought and activity.","PeriodicalId":32566,"journal":{"name":"Arabiyatuna Jurnal Bahasa Arab","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83728245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was a descriptive qualitative research with a content analysis approach. Data were collected through intensive reading of the covid-19 dictionary to find out translation types in that dictionary. Meanwhile, to gain a description of the term unification, it was done by confirming terms in the covid-19 dictionary to terms that existed in Mu’jam al-Thibbi al-Muwahhad in both printed and digital versions. The research findings indicated that the terms in the Covid-18 dictionary are the translations of English and French terms. In constructing the terms, there are several translation types. Those are direct translation with formal and semantic adjustment, literal translation with matched meaning yet different in its formal form, translation by creating new terms in the target language, descriptive translation, and the combination of translation and Arabization, Arabization and adjustment, and Arabization with no adjustment. In addition, from term unification, some categories were found, namely: standardized terms category, different from standardized terms category, unstandardized terms category, and unavailable terms in Mu’jam al-Thibbi al-Muwahhad category.","PeriodicalId":32566,"journal":{"name":"Arabiyatuna Jurnal Bahasa Arab","volume":"107 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88967854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The comparison covers basic phonological features that include phonemes inventory and their distribution in words, diphthongs, and vowel and consonant clusters. The survey is important as the basis for future research on the subdialect mapping of Sarawak Malay. Without the fundamental description of each subdialect in the aspects of phonology, lexical and, to some extent, grammar, it is difficult to research on the development of Malay subdialects in Sarawak. The data for this study were compiled by the present authors and also from the works of past researchers on the subject. The subdialects compared include those of Kuching, Tambirat, Kabong, and Debak, which also represent four focal areas of the Malay population in Sarawak. Two subdialect clusters were identified, namely the subdialect cluster of Kuching and another cluster spoken by the coastal Malays in Western Sarawak. The former group includes varieties in Malay villages in Bahagian Kuching, the surrounding basin of Sg. Sarawak, Sematan, Santubong, and Bako. The latter group includes varieties in the Kalaka-Saribas area in Bahagian Sri Aman and Betong, as well as in Bahagian Samarahan in Btg Sadong and its surrounding areas, namely Asajaya, Simunjan, and Sebuyau. This latter group is more phonologically heterogeneous than the former group, and shares some distinctive phonological features, such as the 8-vowel system, the absence of phoneme /-É£/ at word end, as well as diversity in diphthongs. At the same time, they also display phonological differences, such as the realisation of phoneme /-a/ to /-ə/ or /-o/, or maintenance of /-a/ at word end","PeriodicalId":32566,"journal":{"name":"Arabiyatuna Jurnal Bahasa Arab","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80515948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted to analyze the reading skills in Malay language literacy among dyslexic students. The sample of this study was 10 dyslexic students who were selected from the Malaysia Dyslexia Association. A mixed-method approach was conducted to identify reading problems according to the LINUS 2.0 construct, which was developed by the Special Education Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia. Reading problems according to the LINUS 2.0 were measured based on the construct in the Malay Language Reading Skills Literacy Diagnostic for Dyslexics. This diagnostic was used to assess 12 reading skills in the reading achievement of dyslexic students' literacy constructs. Each reading skill has 5 items to read. This diagnostic focuses on 12 reading skills that were analyzed according to the dyslexic students' level of learning. The findings of this study prove that dyslexic students have a poor level of literacy skills in reading Malay. From this study, the researcher has produced a new approach to literacy construct that is suitable for dyslexic students. Based on the reading ability of the subjects in this study, the researcher concludes that the knowledge of graphemes-phonemes and syllable segmentation is unsatisfactory. The findings of this study have an impact on the Special Education Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia, in that curriculum planning for dyslexic students can be examined. The findings of this study also have an impact on dyslexic teachers in that they can plan their teaching and learning to suit the level of mental development of dyslexic students in Malaysia.","PeriodicalId":32566,"journal":{"name":"Arabiyatuna Jurnal Bahasa Arab","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89857271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to describe the level and degree of topic continuity in grammatical devices in the said text. The research method used is a quantitative-descriptive method by applying the documentation method in data collection and interactive model in data analysis. The data in this study were the grammatical devices in clauses, which consist of zero anaphora, third-person pronouns, possessive pronouns, defined noun phrases, and undefined noun phrases that are sourced from the selected text. The results showed that the representation of grammatical devices consists of zero anaphora, third-person pronouns, possessive pronouns, defined noun phrases, and undefined noun phrases. Of the five grammatical sets, zero anaphora has the highest level of topic continuity (4.62), while defined noun phrases have the lowest level of topic continuity (9.19). Four of the grammatical devices have low topic continuity, namely third-person pronouns (7.28), possessive pronouns (8.40), undefined noun phrases (9.13), and defined noun phrases (9.19). The highest degree of continuity starts from the grammatical level of zero anaphora, third-person pronouns, possessive pronouns, undefined noun phrases, and defined noun phrases.","PeriodicalId":32566,"journal":{"name":"Arabiyatuna Jurnal Bahasa Arab","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88314265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
