This study used a qualitative approach with a type of phenomenological study to understand and explain the phenomenon of the research subjects. The techniques of data collection in this study used in-depth interviews with 4 respondents with certain criteria as well as tests on students’ learning outcomes in terms of giving i’rab and reading Yellow Books through three stages of tests. The results of this study showed that the implementation of the Pegon symbol formula method in basic nahw courses at Islamic higher education began by the planning stage that all students re-perceived the lessons they had learned; the process stage in nahwu learning used the classical Arabic Pegon method by reading the contents of the book; and the post-teaching stage referred to the evaluation in away that the students read one by one in front of the class to find out their abilities to use Arabic Pegon. Then, the impact of the Pegon symbol formula method in basic nahw courses was shown by the increase in students’ abilities to give i’rab and read Yellow Books revealed from the test and depth interviews with the students.","PeriodicalId":32566,"journal":{"name":"Arabiyatuna Jurnal Bahasa Arab","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42017261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is not known whether the method is suitable for all students, considering that this method is more suitable for use at the upper level or university level, whereas students at Madrasa Nida’urrahman come from various educational backgrounds, including beginner-level students. This research employed a descriptive-qualitative method. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results fell into the following: 1) The process of applying the measurement method in learning Arabic grammar in class X Madrasah Aliyah Nida’urrahman Bebie demonstrated some information. The teacher repeated the lesson from the previous week, explained certain grammar, and gave examples. Hence, with these examples, the teacher explained the rules in more detail. After it was deemed sufficient, the teacher asked students to work in questions from the book to find out the extent of their understanding of materials that had been explained. 2) The obstacles in the application of the measurement method in class X Madrasah Aliyah Nida’urrahman Bebie subsumed (a) the obstacles faced by the teacher, namely the different backgrounds of students, and environmental factors; and (b) the obstacles faced by students covering a lack of knowledge, boredom when studying, and sleepiness when studying. As a matter of fact, although many scholars have researched the application of TikTok as a learning medium, less is known about it from the perspective of translation studies. The data of this study were derived from Arabic–Indonesian captions in the personal accounts of Abu Danah and Ahmad Al-Kurman, uploaded families from August to December 2021. The findings showcased the most dominant translation techniques found in 27 captions in the Abu Danah family account. 20 captions of Ahmad Al-Kurman were identified as a transposition translation technique. The translation method found in the caption of Abu Danah family account tended to use communicative methods and domestication ideology. In contrast, the translation method and ideology inclined to be used in the translation of Ahmad Al-Kurman's captions were free a translation method and the ideology of domestication. The study’s results concluded that the applications of transposition translation technique, the translation method tending to target languages, and the domestication ideology referred to translators' efforts to make it easier for readers to understand the translation results on TikTok media with its minimal space. Thus, short-form Arabic social media texts should be applied the free translation method based on domestication ideology in order to have a high level of readability. This goal was based on the problem of students' low abilities to understand Arabic syntax. These students’ low abilities were caused by the application of inappropriate learning methods and media while learning Arabic syntax. Moreover, this research also determined students' responses on the topic above. This research used a quasi-experimental design method with a non-equivalent control group design model. This research incorporated a sample of 58 students. Furthermore, the researchers collected the data using tests and questionnaires (with the Likert scale) and analyzed them with descriptive statistics and N-Gain test. The results showed that the average score of the N-Gain in the experimental group was 56.18; while the one in the control group was 17.87. The former was higher than the latter regarding students’ abilities in Arabic syntax. This indicated that peer teaching using card media was effective in Arabic syntax learning (especially in the moderate category). The questionnaire results also demonstrated that the average of students' responses to the application of the method above and media was 78.95%; hence it belonged to a positive category. This signifies that the method and media are of essential components in learning processes.","PeriodicalId":32566,"journal":{"name":"Arabiyatuna Jurnal Bahasa Arab","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49225094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, The results can describe the differences in learning outcomes among students using cognitive and metacognitive strategies. This study also sought to get an overview of the cognitive and metacognitive practices in maharah qiraah. As time went by, such practices of learning strategies certainly got some modifications and needed to be reviewed. This research was descriptive-quantitative. The instruments used were 1) a questionnaire adapted from Oxford’s Strategy Inventory for Language Learning; and 2) follow-up interviews to explore the cognitive and metacognitive practices. Conclusion to be drawn was that 62.9% of the students used metacognitive strategies; 17.74% of the students used cognitive strategies; and 19.36% of the students used both cognitive and metacognitive strategies. The questionnaire data were continuously processed by reviewing students’ average scores in maharah qiraah. The students using metacognitive strategies obtained a score of 86.15, while those using cognitive strategies obtained a score of 87.73. Subsequently, thos using both strategies received a score of 85.58. It was concluded that there was no difference in learning outcomes between students who used cognitive, metacognitive, or both strategies. From interview findings, there were several variations in the use of cognitive and metacognitive learning strategies used by students. Cognitive strategies consisted of identifying words and marking them, speed reading to get an outline or main idea, translating, reading repeatedly, using dictionaries and several other sources, analyzing, and reasoning. In the meantime, metacognitive strategies were carried out consciously by focusing attention, organizing alongside planning learning processes, monitoring, and evaluating learning processes. This study has implications to provide an overview of the development of practical forms of cognitive and metacognitive learning strategies so such strategies can be adapted by other language learners.","PeriodicalId":32566,"journal":{"name":"Arabiyatuna Jurnal Bahasa Arab","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41497550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research was motivated by the need of Arabic Language Test as an evaluation activity that required for various purposes. Several universities in Indonesia have also intended the existence of a language test as a requirement for continuing studies to a higher degree or to a place where linguistic proficiency is required or work somewhere. Also, the most important is to upgrade students’ language skills after knowing their language abilities. This test was in the form of an aptitude test or an ability test for each skill in the Arabic language. But in the speaking skill, this test still required preparation and development of more test questions to practice. Apart from the test questions, the method of assessment and the procedures for its implementation also needed to be developed and considered. Then, the researchers took account of the need to compile and make a good test product in speaking skills by following the steps for preparing a standardized test. This was the Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall’s version. The researchers used the ANATES V.0.5 2022 application for processing data and analyzing test results. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the test was feasible because it met the requirements of a good test. The trial results showed high validity and reliability values, and the level of difficulty of each item also had good distinguishing power. Out of a total of 17 questions, 13 questions were stated to be very valid, 2 questions were valid, and 2 questions were striped (-), indicating that these two questions needed to be re-analyzed on what aspects made them less valid so that the questions could be revised.
