This article provides an introduction to electromagnetic radiation, measuring it with hyperspectral technology and how the technique is used in agriculture for the detection of plant stress and the consequent sustainable management thereof. Importantly, it is intended to be entertaining and easy-to-read, particularly for those who do not have extensive backgrounds in the fields of physics and remote sensing. La scelta varietale ha ripercussioni economiche di lungo termine. In tale prospettiva, con KULTIVAS vorremmo proporre un approccio data-driven a questo importante problema del settore melicolo. In questo progetto, dati storici selezionati sulla produttività e qualità delle mele, moderni sistemi di gestione dei dati, algoritmi e tecniche di apprendimento automatico sono stati impiegati adottando un approccio multidisciplinare che coinvolge esperti di diversi settori, quali agronomia, fisiologia, climatologia e informatica, per valutare l'idoneità sito- specifica alla coltivazione di determinate varietà di mele. Il modello di previsione sviluppato nell’ambito del progetto si basa su dati climatici e topografici interpolati spazialmente, oltre che su dati di produzione e qualità delle mele provenienti da diverse cooperative altoatesine. Usando informazioni spazialmente disponibili sul clima, il modello è in grado di stimare vari parametri di produzione, come calibro, colore e resa. La previsione degli indicatori predetti dal modello statistico è più̀ precisa quanto più̀ il set di dati di training copre la variabilità̀ climatica e topografica delle aree di indagine. In aree con caratteristiche al di fuori di questa variabilità, il modello avrà un potere predittivo limitato. As apple slices brown very quickly after cutting, dipping them in an antioxidant solution for a few minutes is common to avoid this phenomenon. However, this procedure has some limitations. Using the same solution for several immersion cycles over several hours can lead to cross-contamination and microbial growth. In addition, osmotic exchange phenomena in the immersion tank lead to a reduction in the concentration of the active ingredients of the antioxidant solution over time, which requires continuous readjustment of the concentrations. These aspects, together with the large quantities of exhausted antioxidant solution to be disposed of, are limiting factors that drive the search for alternative and more sustainable methods than dipping. In this work, a comparison between a conventional dipping treatment of fresh-cut apples and spraying at increasing volume of antioxidant solution was performed. Color, considered as the quality reference parameter, was visually assessed (occurrance of dark spots) and CIE Lab colorimetric indices were measured over a five-day experimental period. Based on dark spots and the changes in brightness (Δ L*), hue angle (Δ h) and chroma (Δ C*), some of the spraying treatments applied were found to be comparable to dipping in controlling browning. Darüber hinaus ist bekannt, dass das Mikroklima um Obstbäume das Wachstum, die Reifung und die chemische Zusammensetzung von Früchten beeinflusst. Studien über die chemische Zusammensetzung von Äpfeln, die durch die Höhenlage der Obstanlage beeinflusst werden, sind jedoch nur wenige vorhanden, und daher muss das Wissen des Zusammenspiels und des Einflusses dieser Faktoren auf die Qualität von Apfelfrüchten verbessert werden. Das übergeordnete Ziel der vorliegenden Studie war eine bessere Kenntnis der Veränderungen verschiedener Fruchtmerkmale von Äpfeln des Typs „Golden Delicious Klon B“, die aus Anlagen in unterschiedlichen Höhenlagen stammen und in unterschiedlichen Reifegraden geerntet wurden. Darüber hinaus wurde untersucht, ob die Höhenlage unmittelbar nach der ULO-Lagerung und nach sechs Tagen shelf-life einen statistischen Einfluss auf die chemische Zusammensetzung der gelagerten Äpfel hatte. The phytophagous pest Halyomorpha halys (Stål), originated from north-eastern Asia, is by now introduced in several countries worldwide. Its highly polyphagous behaviour, paired with a relatively high reproduction rate under favourable conditions, makes it an im-portant pest of several agricultural crops. In South Tyrol (Northern Italy), one of the largest con-tiguous apple growing regions in Europe, first adults had been reported in March 2016. Active monitoring techniques, as well as the implementation of a Citizen Science approach, enabled to follow up the spread and settlement of stable populations of H. halys in South Tyrol. Since its first detection, H. halys showed a rapid expansion of colonized area and an increase in population densities from year to year. Established populations coincide mostly with the main apple growing area, namely the Etsch Valley from Meran to Salurn, mainly occupying lower altitudes between 200 and 500 m a.s.l. Since 2019, a further spreading in the western and eastern parts of South Tyrol can be observed. In apple orchards H. hals showed generally a continuous presence throughout the growing season from April to October, with population peaks in the late season. On the other side, populations dynamics and densities of adults and nymphs differ significantly between years ans sureveyed sites. The findings indicate that the application of pheromone baited traps is a good tool for an area wide approach in or-der to get information on its spreading, to pinpoint the main distribution area and to draw a general picture of the population dynamics at a larger scale. Mithilfe von modernen Bilderkennungssystemen ist es bereits möglich Ertragsprognosen zu erstellen, um flächenbezogene Ertragsleistung und die Fruchtgrößenverteilung zu ermitteln. Dadurch können Kulturmaßnahmen zielgerichteter eingesetzt und die Lagerung sowie die Logistik optimiert werden. Deshalb wurden in dieser Arbeit-fünf verschiedene kommerziell erhältliche Systeme auf ihre Genauigkeit und Praxistauglichkeit bei verschiedenen Sorten und auf verschiedenen Standorten getestet. Dafür wurden die erhaltenen Daten mit manuell ermittelten Daten verglichen und die Abweichung berechnet. Dabei wurde festgestellt, dass große Unterschiede zwischen den verschiedenen Systemen vorlagen, wobei einige Systeme bereits eine ausreichende Genauigkeit aufwiesen. In South Tyrol lemon balm is among the most cultivated species of MAP. During spring 2019, two field sites in South Tyrol with cultivations of lemon balm showed extensive damage on the leaves. Injured samples taken from these locations were analyzed and showed the presence of larvae and pupae of a Curculionidae, which completed their life cycle in the laboratory. The adults were identified morphoanatomically as Donus intermedius (Coleoptera: Curculionoidae). This species until now was not known to cause damage to lemon balm cultivations. In zwei verschiedenen Versuchen wurden am Versuchszentrum Laimburg unterschiedliche Methoden zur Wachstumsregulierung untersucht. Unter anderem wurde das Handelsprodukt Paclot New mit dem Wirkstoff Paclobutrazol, früher bekannt unter dem Handelsnamen Cultar getestet. Trotz positiver Ergebnisse bei älteren Versuchen, konnte bei beiden Versuchen kein wachstumsregulierender Effekt von Paclobutrazol festgestellt werden. Behandlungen mit dem Wirkstoff Prohexadion-Ca wiesen hingegen eine signifikante Reduktion des Triebwachstums im Vergleich zur unbehandelten Kontrolle auf. Der Wurzelschnitt und Behandlungen mit Paclobutrazol verkleinerten die Fruchtgröße in machen Versuchsjahren signifikant. Im Laufe der Reifephase des Jahres 2014 trat eine weitere Art der Reifestörung bei Gewürztraminer in Südtirol auf. Auffallend war, dass nicht alle Beeren den normalen Reifeprozess durchlaufen, sondern einzelne Beeren grün bleiben. In diesem Artikel werden die Ergebnisse der ersten Ursachenerforschung, sowie daraus hervorgehende erste Lösungsansätze dargestellt.
