An der Fragsburg (700 m ü. NN), in Maso Parti (210 m ü. NN) und in Spagolle (420 m ü. NN) wurden CG 3001, CG 2034, G 935 und G 969 in Kombination mit Golden Delicious untersucht, auch hinsichtlich deren Toleranz gegenüber Bodenmüdigkeit. Eine engere Auswahl an Unterlagen wurden mit Red Delicious Spur an der Fragsburg, am Versuchszentrum Laimburg (220 m ü. NN) und in Spagolle gepflanzt. G 41, G 935 und G 969 zeigten im Vergleich zu M 9 T337 und M 26 höhere Baumerträge und ein stärkeres Wachstum, was unter bodenmüden Bedingungen, in höheren Lagen mit Wachstumsdefiziten oder in Zusammenhang mit schwachwüchsigen Sorten wie Red Delicious Spur interessant sein kann. G 41 und G 969 übten bei Golden Delicious zudem einen positiven Einfluss auf die Fruchtgröße aus. Die Unterlagen CG 3001 und CG 2034 sind in Wachstum und Ertrag tendenziell schwächer als G 935 und G 969. G 11 war mit Red Delicious tendenziell wüchsiger und ertragreicher als M 9 Pajam 2. Alle Unterlagen der Geneva Serie bilden kaum Wurzelfelder und -schosse aus. Obwohl bei Weitem noch nicht alle Fragen zu der neuen Serie an Geneva Unterlagen geklärt sind, könnten diese Unterlagen für bestimmte Situationen zukünftig eine Alternative zu M 9 darstellen.","PeriodicalId":325047,"journal":{"name":"Laimburg Journal","volume":" 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140684445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Die Pustertaler Saatbaugenossenschaft lagert und verkauft den Großteil der im Land angebauten Saat- und Speisekartoffeln. Die Genossenschaft bietet eine Auswahl von 25 verschiedenen Kartoffelsorten, die sorgfältig geerntet und bis ins Frühjahr optimal gelagert werden. In den letzten Jahren wurde eine vorzeitige Keimung auf gewissen Partien beobachtet, die möglicherweise auf eine überhöhte Stickstoffdüngung im Anbau zurückzuführen sein könnte. Aus diesem Grund wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Versuchszentrum Laimburg ein vierjähriger Versuch (2016-2019) durchgeführt, um den Einfluss von verschiedenen Stickstoff-(N)-Gaben im Anbau auf die Lagerfähigkeit von sechs verschiedenen Kartoffel-Sorten zu untersuchen. Außerdem wurden zwei unterschiedliche Methoden zur frühzeitigen Vorhersage von erhöhten N-gedüngten Kartoffel-Partien geprüft. Obwohl in manchen Jahren bei einigen Sorten die übergedüngten Stickstoff-Varianten von einer höheren Keimungsintensität der Kartoffeln während der Lagerung gekennzeichnet waren, haben unsere Ergebnisse gezeigt, dass die Keimungsintensität nach der Lagerung eher von einer Kombination verschiedener Faktoren, wie Sortenanfälligkeit, Witterung und Düngung in unterschiedlichem Maße beeinflusst wird. Die Auswahl der angebauten Kartoffelsorten, eine maßgeschneiderte Anbaupraxis und die Kenntnisse über deren Lagerfähigkeit ermöglichen die optimale Vermarktung dieser wichtigen Einkommensquelle, ohne großen Einbußen entgegen zu gehen.","PeriodicalId":325047,"journal":{"name":"Laimburg Journal","volume":"7 20","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140697585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tabarelli","doi":"10.23796/lj/2024.008","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.23796/lj/2024.008","url":null,"abstract":"Apple Proliferation (AP) is a widespread disease affecting apple orchards throughout Europe, including South Tyrol.The disease is associated with a phytoplasma, 'Candidatus Phytoplasma mali' ('Ca. P. mali'), which manipulates the plant's physiological processes through the secretion of small peptides called effectors. One well-studied phytoplasma effector is SAP11, which targets Teosinte Branched 1/Cycloidea/Proliferating Cell Factor 1 (TCP) genes in multiple plant species, including apple. TCP genes encode plant-specific transcription factors involved in various biological processes, such as growth, development, and responses to stimuli. The identification and naming of TCP genes have been inconsistent, leading to confusion and redundancy in sequence databases. In apple, 52 TCP genes (MdTCP) were identified in 2014 on the 2010 assembly of the apple genome, which is now considered outdated. To address this issue, a comprehensive investigation was conducted to identify and name TCP genes in apple using the high-quality genome assembly, GDDH13v1.1. Existing TCP sequences were aligned with the genome excluding redundant, fragmented, and non-TCP sequences. The revised set comprised 40 unique MdTCPs, including three novel genes. To establish a standardised nomenclature, each MdTCP was BLASTedagainst the Arabidopsis thaliana gene database, in order to identify the best hits for each MdTCP. The MdTCP genes were then renamed, incorporating the letter \"a\" or \"b\" to differentiate between MdTCPs showing homology to the same AtTCP, and also between the existing and proposed nomenclatures. The present study highlights the need for clarity and organisation in sequence databases, especially in respect of TCP genes. The presence of redundant and fragmented sequences in databases complicates accurate identification and annotation of genes. By providing a comprehensive and standardised nomenclature system, we aim to enhance the coherence and interoperability of future TCP gene research in plant and crop science. In our view, this work will serve as a valuable resource for researchers studying TCP genes in apple and will provide insights into the evolutionary dynamics and functional roles of TCP genes in plants.","PeriodicalId":325047,"journal":{"name":"Laimburg Journal","volume":"15 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140739042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two sites, one high vigor and one low vigor, were selected for this study, with the following treatments tested: [1] ‘control’, shoots were topped according to standard practices; [2] ‘without lateral shoots’, all lateral shoots were removed; [3] ‘low canopy’, the canopy was shortened to 50 cm below the height of the ‘control’; [4] ‘twisted shoots’, shoots were not hedged, but instead were horizontally twisted along the upper wires.   The ‘low canopy’ treatment revealed little effect on grape ripening parameters, especially in the low vigor trials. Upon sensory analysis, the quality of wine derived from this treatment did not score higher than the control, but rather repeatedly lower. Furthermore, ‘low canopy’ wines exhibited atypical aging notes, and in certain vintages more Berry shrivel was observed during the vegetative season. The ‘twisted shoots’ treatment displayed repeatedly higher YAN values in the must, especially in vineyards with higher vigor, which led to an increase in potential vine fertility. Thus, shortening the canopy was not found to be a suitable technique to delay ripening or improve wine quality. ","PeriodicalId":325047,"journal":{"name":"Laimburg Journal","volume":"18 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140743288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Auf rund 18.300 ha werden ca. 10 % der Äpfel auf dem europäischen Markt produziert. Da die Apfelanlagen in manchen Teilen der Region über 75 % der landwirtschaftlich genutzten Fläche einnehmen, haben sie auch einen Einfluss auf die dort vorkommende Fauna. So kann z.B. der blühende Unterwuchs von Insekten als Nahrungsquelle für Pollen und Nektar verwendet werden. Diese Studie beschäftigt sich mit dem Unterwuchsmanagement und dessen Auswirkungen auf die Vegetation in den Apfelanlagen. Es wird gezeigt, dass das Mulchen des Fahrstreifens, sowie Herbizidbehandlungen in den Baumreihen sehr wohl Auswirkungen auf die Unterwuchsvegetation haben, diese aber nur relativ kurzfristig sind und deshalb im richtigen Moment erfolgen müssen. Es ist zwar kaum möglich alle Blüten aus dem Unterwuchs zu entfernen. Totzdem kann durch das richtige Management der Vegetation der Anreiz für Bestäuber in die Anlagen zu fliegen, und somit das Risiko, dass sie mit Pflanzenschutzmitteln in Kontakt kommen, minimiert werden.","PeriodicalId":325047,"journal":{"name":"Laimburg Journal","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114847179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Non-crop elements (e.g., dry-stone walls, hedges, etc.) are widely present in the cultivated areas and, together with the high plant diversity, may provide ideal foraging and breeding habitats for several animal groups. Here we surveyed small-scale MAP fields from a multi-taxonomic perspective considering flower-visiting arthropods, butterflies, grasshoppers, ground-dwelling arthropods, birds, and bats. A total of three MAP fields were surveyed, however not every taxon was surveyed in each MAP field. Pan traps were used in all MAP fields to assess flower-visiting arthropods with special attention to wild bees. In one of the selected fields a Malaise trap was used, and the other taxa were surveyed according to the protocol of the Biodiversity Monitoring South Tyrol. An exception was the bird surveys, which were conducted in two MAP fields. Our results indicate MAP fields to be a valuable habitat for several taxa, especially wild bees, as reflected in the positive correlation of wild bee species richness and flower coverage. Next to beneficial arthropods, potential pests, such as aphids were also highly abundant. However, natural enemies (e.g., hymenopteran parasitoids, ground-dwelling predators, etc.) possibly counteracting pests were also numerous. The butterfly and grasshopper fauna were represented by common and generalist species, while the observed vertebrate communities were relatively diverse in their habitat requirements, most likely using MAP fields for foraging. Overall, we conclude that MAP cultivation may act as resource-rich oases for several animal groups, thereby promoting biodiversity also on a broader scale.","PeriodicalId":325047,"journal":{"name":"Laimburg Journal","volume":"74 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114158829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
