Bedi̇r","doi":"10.33457/ijhsrp.1406109","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33457/ijhsrp.1406109","url":null,"abstract":"This study aims to evaluate the frequency of domestic violence based on court orders for treatment issued against perpetrators of domestic violence under Law No. 6284 on the Protection of Family and the Prevention of Violence against Women. We retrospectively analyzed violence cases reported by the court to the provincial health directorate under Law No. 6284 and information recorded by health workers about women who stated they were subjected to violence in 2019, 2020, and the first 6 months of 2021. The data were presented using descriptive statistics. Compared to the pre-pandemic period, the number of court orders for medical evaluation and treatment under Law No. 6284 increased by 333.4% in the first year of the pandemic. In the first 6 months of 2021, this number exceeded the total for 2020. More than half of the perpetrators had at least one addiction. The research was conducted between May and October 2022 in Turkey with 262 nurses who agreed to participate in the study. Data were collected using a Descriptive Information Form and the Process of Retirement Planning Scale and analyzed with descriptive statistics and comparative tests. As a result of the research, it was seen that the nurses’ made plans for the lifestyle the most, and that they made financial plans the least. In addition, the levels of retirement planning of nurses who were male, who were aged between 40-59, who had a bachelor’s or master’s degree, who had an extended family, who had 3 or more children, who were employed in the private sector, who had a professional and institutional experience of 20 years or over, who had willingly chosen the profession, and who had a chronic disease were higher. Questionnaire was applied to 165 emergency healthcare personnel working in Istanbul, between August and October 2021. Demographic information and Hackman and Oldham job satisfaction scale were used in the questionnaire. 80.6% of the participants stated that they were exposed to physical, verbal, psychological or sexual violence. It was determined that 48.7% of the perpetrators were the relatives of the patient and 30.2% were the patients themselves. In addition, it was determined that 78.9% of the attackers were male Significant differences were found between the duration and age of healthcare workers in the institution and their job satisfaction. It has been determined that the job satisfaction of healthcare personnels who are exposed to violence is lower than those who are not exposed to violence. In the state of exposure to violence, the motivation and psychological state of the personnel working in the emergency health services are highly affected, and this has a negative effect on job satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of nursing students' attitudes towards elderly individuals and their levels of compassion with the factors influential on them. The study is of descriptive type. The study was carried out with the 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 4th grade nursing students (n:508). In the study, the independent variables that had a statistically significant relationship with the dependent variables were subjected to the stepwise multiple linear regression analysis. The mean age of the nursing students participating in the study was 21.22±1.47, and 78.1% of them were women. The students' mean scores were 48.85±5.00 in the UCLA geriatric attitude scale and 99.17±10.98 in the compassion scale. It was found that compassion, willingness to work with elderly individuals after graduation, the place the elderly person should stay in (in a nursing home, in their own home), perceived compassion fatigue level (mild), father's education level (undergraduate level and above), and problems experienced in social relations with elderly individuals were significant predictors of the nursing students’ attitudes towards elderly individuals. It was revealed that nursing students’ positive attitudes towards the elderly individual increased as their levels of compassion increased. It was seen that the students who had a mild level of compassion fatigue and who wanted to work with elderly individuals after graduation had more positive attitudes. As a result, physician health and wellness initiatives have been sought out to mitigate burn out, and work towards advocating for physician well-being. Peer support programs have been used, and found to be effective, in mitigating burn out by utilizing the innate tendency to respond and empathized with shared difficulty. Our study evaluated the effectiveness of peer support and the recommendations needed to implement such a program on a larger scale. 14 physicians from the Regina General Hospital Pediatric department were paired to have informal virtual meetings (during COVID-19) every two weeks for three months. Following the program, physicians were individually interviewed and participated in a short cross sectional survey to understand the experience and perception of the program. Results showed a perceived benefit and value towards the program with an interest in continuing in a more formal fashion. The small department and the inability to meet naturally in person (due to COVID-19) provided limitations. Future indications of the program include continuation, expansion, and advocacy for the program.
