The integration of two techniques enables taking advantages of their strengths and complements each other's weaknesses. An application is performed to demonstrate how this approach can facilitate intelligent decision support by retrieving the best itinerary that satisfies the most the user preferences.","PeriodicalId":324478,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Conference on Logistics","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130656121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this research, we confirm this statement by solving an integrated inventory control model through intra-firm planning by integrating manufacturer's raw material procurement and its production. The aim is to help, at a tactical level, firms having multiple types of products to manufacturer, multiple types of raw materials, multiple competing suppliers, non linear raw material purchasing costs, non linear raw materials transportation costs, to determine the amounts of raw materials to buy, and the amounts of finished products to manufacture. These amounts have to satisfy customers' demands without backlog and to minimize the total cost of the inventory system. The demand is deterministic and can vary from a period to another. The joint raw material delivery and lot sizing problem is formulated as a mixed integer linear program and applied to a real-life case, plastic items manufacturer. To solve the problem, we make use of a commercial solver (CPLEX). The results obtained indicate that we manage to decrease the total cost considered.","PeriodicalId":324478,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Conference on Logistics","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125605788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was motivated by a real situation encountered in the storage problem of a foam industry in Tunisia. The storage problem consists in allocating, without overlapping, a given set of rectangular items (mattresses) to the minimum number of three dimensional bins with the different bins (rack) dimensions as input variables. Storage problem is a variable - sized bin packing problem that consists in finding an arrangement of set of items that cannot be rotated into the minimum number of variables bins. We develop a new heuristic method and we propose an integer programming model for the storage problem. The algorithm was applied in the case of unlimited number of bins. Numerical results on real-life test instances are reported.","PeriodicalId":324478,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Conference on Logistics","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132333526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose the universal graphic language Bond Graph (BG) to describe the dynamic behavior of physical flow on supply chain using the same analogy and the same duality of the traffic flow field. The BG language contributes enormously to clarify the analysis of the several phenomena that occur in supply chain through its graphic vision, its systematic formulation of the analytical models and its universal spirit for all engineering's fields. Adoption of such a universal modelling language in the supply chain represents an asset in the search for a good solution to the great complexity of this chain due mainly to mutual interaction of multi-natural phenomena which are subject to numerous constraints and requirements.","PeriodicalId":324478,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Conference on Logistics","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124894372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In other words, an industrial or commercial company is to delegate all or part of its logistic activities to a Logistic Service Provider. It is considered an important factor for competitiveness, flexibility and better responsiveness to fulfill the needs of new economic challenges. This strategy has been growing steadily over the past ten years for both industrial and tertiary activities. Although many reasons are behind this movement, it seems interesting to problematize the lack or even the absence of research on logistics outsourcing in the Moroccan context. Given this criterion, a part of this research will be dedicated to determine the strategic tool on which the managers are going to tap into to make a good decision of outsourcing.","PeriodicalId":324478,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Conference on Logistics","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114555990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, chronic budget deficit of Tunisian public transport industry continues to increase. The objective of this paper is to evaluating the relationship between public transport regulation and cost-efficiency of operators. So, it proposes: first, test of relevant structure of public transport industry, second, evaluation of contribution of regulation in efficiency of operators. To this end, we estimate, firstly, density and size economies of operators in the objective to verify the pertinence of actual monopolistic structure. Secondly, we estimate distortions between regulated and unregulated labour prices and we integrate them in regulated cost frontier to measure real cost-inefficiencies of operators. Our main conclusion is that monopolistic configuration must be retained and the labour price is regulated at a higher level which explains increasing of operating costs and contributes in inefficiency of operators.","PeriodicalId":324478,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Conference on Logistics","volume":"645 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121986817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

RSOM-hubs are permanent or temporary staging bases for cross-loading between strategic and tactical lift during military deployment and sustainment operations. In this study, performance measures were formulated to assess the effectiveness and the responsiveness of different RSOM-hub options to support MAJAID deployments. A simulation-based optimization model was also developed to determine the optimal number and locations of hubs in the North. The model was considered in a multi-objective framework and solution trade-offs were determined through an exhaustive search methodology. An illustrative scenario was used to simulate deployment lift to various MAJAID locations in the North and assess the performance of different RSOM-hub options. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to examine the impact of different operational parameters on hub performance and optimal locations. The study indicated that the optimal number of RSOM-hubs for MAJAID operations in the North would be two, corresponding to Iqaluit and Yellowknife.","PeriodicalId":324478,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Conference on Logistics","volume":"359 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122650927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
