{"title":"The ANTARA and TEMPO Media’s Framing Strategy Differences in Framing the Omnibus Law Ratification Issue","authors":"R. Rahmi, Sawirman Sawirman, Aslinda Aslinda","doi":"10.26499/rnh.v10i2.4146","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.26499/rnh.v10i2.4146","url":null,"abstract":"In this research, the authors compared the framing strategy used by the ANTARA media and TEMPO media for the issue of the ratification of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation. This research was conducted descriptively with comparative qualitative approach. A qualitative document procedure was applied in collecting the data. Fairclough's framework of Critical Discourse Analysis and the framing analysis model by Pan and Kosicki (1993) were combined to analyze the data. The result of the data analysis is presented in the table and the interpretation form. The result shows that TEMPO's framing strategy is more clearly defined, while ANTARA's strategy is less clear. In building a negative or positive representation, TEMPO Media tries to present information supported by many sources. Then, the use of images in TEMPO news supports the truth of information, while the use of images in ANTARA media improves the quality of information sources. The five news stories from ANTARA media selected in this study always use the face image of the selected informant as a source of news information. AbstrakPada penelitian ini, penulis membandingkan strategi pembingkaian yang digunakan media ANTARA dan TEMPO dalam membingkai isu pengesahan Omnibus Law Cipta Kerja. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara deskriptif dengan pendekatan komparatif kualitiatif. Prosedur dokumen kualitatif diterapkan dalam pengumpulan data. Kerangka analisis wacana kritis Fairclough dan model analisis pembingkaian oleh Pan dan Kosicki (1993) digabungkan untuk menganalisis data. Hasil analisis data disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan interpretasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembingkaian TEMPO lebih jelas, sedangkan strategi ANTARA kurang jelas. Dalam membangun representasi negatif atau positif, TEMPO mencoba menghadirkan informasi yang didukung oleh banyak sumber. Kemudian, penggunaan gambar dalam berita TEMPO mendukung kebenaran informasi, sedangkan penggunaan gambar di media ANTARA meningkatkan kualitas sumber informasi. Warto","doi":"10.26499/rnh.v10i2.4052","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.26499/rnh.v10i2.4052","url":null,"abstract":"Syair Nasihat (hereinafter abbreviated as SN) is an old literary work written in Arabic letters and utilizing the diversity of languages that exist in the archipelago. Therefore, a study of the SN manuscript needs to be carried out comprehensively and holistically so that the diversity of languages used to instill the values of local wisdom can be used as a source of inspiration for literary learning in the future. The method used in this study is the text editing method, namely the critical edition method. The use of this method is expected to provide good and correct SN text edits. The text study method used is a literary research method, especially semiotic studies. Thus, the use of language and its symbols contained in the SN text can be fully disclosed so that the results of the study can be useful for the world of education in welcoming the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0. AbstrakSyair Nasihat (selanjutnya disingkat SN) merupakan karya sastra lama yang ditulis dengan huruf Arab dan memanfaatkan keragaman bahasa yang ada di Nusantara. Oleh karena itu, kajian terhadap naskah SN perlu dilakukan secara komprehensif dan holistik sehingga keragaman bahasa yang dimanfaatkan untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal tersebut dapat dijadikan sumber inspirasi bagi pembelajaran sastra di masa yang akan datang. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah metode penyuntingan teks, yaitu metode edisi kritis. Penggunaan metode ini diharapkan dapat menghadirkan suntingan teks SN yang baik dan benar. Adapun metode pengkajian teks yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian sastra, khususnya kajian semiotik. The purpose of this study was to determine the epistemik modality as a form of lingual speech by multicultural students in Surabaya. Hedges are a group of words whose function is to communicate, the communication function of language cannot be used properly without context. One group of words in question is in the form of an epistemik modality. This study aims to describe the epistemik modality as a form of hedges in multicultural students. The approach used is qualitative. This approach is considered relevant because it emphasizes the natural role, uses descriptive data, and uses inductive means because it does not test hypotheses. The data in this study is the verbal speech of multicultural students. The data sources of this research are multicultural students from four universities in Surabaya. The data retrieval technique used is the listening, recording, engaging, proficient, and note-taking technique. Analysis of the data used is the technique of sorting, turning, and connecting. Wagiati","doi":"10.26499/rnh.v10i2.4050","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.26499/rnh.v10i2.4050","url":null,"abstract":"The Ministry of Education and Culture has published 3M's health protocol behavior change guidelines regarding the campaign to prevent COVID-19 transmission in 77 local languages of Indonesia. However, this research only focused on guidelines that used Sundanese as a local language in West Java. This research aimed to identify the types of attitudes and analyze the meanings that appear in these guidelines. The author used the theory of Martin and White (2005), namely the attitude subsystem as part of the appraisal system with Systemic Functional Linguistic approach which showed the author's evaluative attitude towards various things written to lead the readers. The result of this research showed that some information contained judgement both positive and negative side such as the authors found 15 clauses included in the affective indicator of the attitude subsystem in security meaning and four clauses satisfaction meaning. In addition, the authors found 16 clauses included in the attitude subsystem of judgment indicator referring to social esteem and three clauses referring to social sanction. The author also found 12 clauses included in the attitude subsystem of appreciation indicator referring to composition, five clauses referring to valuation, and two clauses referring to reaction. Based on the results of the analysis of each clause listed in the 3M health protocol behavioral change guidelines then the authors conclude that the message conveyed is positive attitude for the society. AbstrakKementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan telah menerbitkan pedoman perubahan perilaku protokol kesehatan 3M terkait kampanye pencegahan penularan COVID-19 dalam 77 bahasa daerah di Indonesia. Namun, penelitian ini hanya berfokus pada pedoman yang menggunakan Bahasa Sunda sebagai bahasa daerah di Jawa Barat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis sikap dan menganalisis makna yang muncul dalam pedoman tersebut. Penulis menggunakan teori Martin and White (2005) yaitu subsistem sikap sebagai bagian dari sistem penilaian dengan pendekatan Linguistik Sistemik Fungsional yang menunjukkan sikap evaluatif penulis terhadap berbagai hal yang ditulis untuk mengarahkan pembaca. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa beberapa informasi mengandung penilaian baik sisi positif maupun negatif seperti, penulis menemukan 15 klausa yang termasuk dalam indikator afektif subsistem sikap bermakna keamanan dan 4 klausa bermakna kepuasan. Selain itu, penulis menemukan 16 klausa yang termasuk dalam subsistem sikap indikator penilaian yang mengacu pada penghargaan sosial dan 3 klausa yang mengacu pada sanksi sosial. Penulis juga menemukan 12 klausa yang termasuk dalam subsistem sikap indikator apresiasi mengacu pada komposisi, 5 klausa mengacu pada penilaian, dan 2 klausa mengacu pada reaksi.
