One of these was the presentation of Kantian literature in the pages of Przegląd Filozoficzny. Moreover, it took place through various reporting sections, supervised by Kazimierz Twardowski. It was up to him to decide to whom and with what work to entrust for review. Reports, reviews and other dissertations were written in a fair, concise manner, reflecting mainly the content of the reviewed work. The reporting section was continued after 1911 by Kazimierz Twardowski in Ruch Filozoficzny. This does not mean that the section was discontinued in Przegląd Filozoficzny. It continued to develop, showcasing the achievements of world philosophy, including Kantian philosophy.","PeriodicalId":32293,"journal":{"name":"Studia z Historii Filozofii","volume":"34 43","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139528374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An active role in its creation was played by: Henryk Struve, Romuald Grzymała-Piątkowski, and Kazimierz Twardowski. The study reveals the problem of the organisers of this initiative to the appointment of a translator and the preparation of the translation's publication. The key role was played by Struve. Twardowski limited himself to criticism, both of the editors of the \"Biblioteka Filozoficzna\" and of the translator himself. The translation was eventually published in 1901. Despite its flaws and numerous shortcomings, it was the first work by Kant representing a mature critical philosophy to be published in Polish.","PeriodicalId":32293,"journal":{"name":"Studia z Historii Filozofii","volume":" 79","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139618699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reading the “Landmarks” (1909) and “Out of the Depth” (1918) after February 24, 2022","authors":"Maria Przeciszewska","doi":"10.12775/szhf.2023.022","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12775/szhf.2023.022","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of this paper is to re-read the criticism of the Russian intelligentsia, which was made by authors of Landmarks (“Vekhy”, 1909) and Out of the Depth (“Iz glubiny”, 1918), in the context of the support given to the Russian invasion on the Ukraine in 2022 by the large part of Russian intellectuals. Instead of perceiving the current “rapprochement” of the Russian intelligentsia to the Putin government as a kind of “aberration” and a departure from its “moral mission”, the author would like to show the arguments concerning long duration of the tradition of their acceptance of the anti-liberal and authoritarian course of the Russian government. This tradition was unveiled by such outstanding Russian liberals and religious thinkers as, among others: Nikolai Berdyaev, Petr Struve, Bogdan Kistyakovski, Iosif Pokrovsky and Sergei Kotlyarevsky. They believed that the susceptibility of the intelligentsia to revolutionary slogans was caused not only by hostility to the Old Regime, but by their instrumental attitude to the state and law. They claimed that the Russian intelligentsia had much more in common with the representatives of Tsarist autocracy than would result from the hostility felt towards it. A common feature of both was “legalnihilism” – a point of view that assumed a distrustful attitude towards rational law. The only way to overcome this distrust was therefore instilling Kant’s personalism and raising the authority of natural law among the broad strata of the Russian intelligentsia.","PeriodicalId":32293,"journal":{"name":"Studia z Historii Filozofii","volume":"16 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138979265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the idea of a new Christian civilization with a new state order and a new role for the Orthodox Church, which they formulated, was an idea of such a Christian reality, the fulfilment of which, in their view, could only occur at a very distant time, actually at the end of human history, and required an earlier spiritual and moral revolution.","PeriodicalId":32293,"journal":{"name":"Studia z Historii Filozofii","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138980257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In doing so, I pose the question of the inevitability of war. The question posed refers to the main hypothesis of the research formulated in reference to Karsavin’s views – war is necessary. I focus my research on Karsavin’s considerations contained in the dissertation entitled Tserkov’, lichnost’ i gosudarstvo [1927] (The Orthodox Church, the Person and the State). With the analytical method used, the order of the issues discussed and repeated reference to them is due to the interpretive approach, and the findings made and conclusions reached were used to answer the question posed about the inevitability of war. The result of the research is the confirmation of the main hypothesis and also the demonstration of the relationships that exist between the causes of war and the responsibility for its initiation.","PeriodicalId":32293,"journal":{"name":"Studia z Historii Filozofii","volume":"26 23","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139010575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Russian thinker treated power as an evil that the democratic system was not free from. He argued that power should be aristocratic, not egalitarian.
