However, over the years, the agriculture sector has faced challenges from climate change, resulting in poor agriculture production and productivity for farmers. Therefore, the study considered the extent to which smallholder farmers were willing to uptake and adopt innovations such as the weather insurance index and financial edging technology. The uptake of innovation and technologies has several factors. According to Rodgers, the technology diffusion theory, five elements need to be considered: compatibility, relative advantage, complexity, observability, and trialability. To achieve this objective, we conducted a mixed-method study targeting 252 smallholder farmers in the Choma district of the Southern province of Zambia. Using well-structured questionnaires, a survey of 252 randomly but purposively selected farmers were interviewed. The study was a cross-section from 2014 to 2020 to help establish the impact throughout the years. An IBM statistical analysis in social science (SPSS) was used to analyze quantitative data, and thematic analysis was used to analyze qualitative data. The study established that the extent of innovation diffusion of the weather insurance index with farmers is a combination of factors that need to be implemented if farmers adapt and adopt technologies. The innovation diffusion theory explains the factors that are supposed to be paid attention to as financial innovations are pushed onto the agricultural markets. However, the study found that 34.9% of farmers were unaware of the weather insurance index provision through government initiatives or not. This research, therefore, informs national policymakers, farmers, researchers, and educators on the impact of the weather insurance index. It similarly provides evidence on the uptake as it is and suggests a way forward on issues such as \"best practices for marketing, distribution, insurance education, and product design to some extent.\"","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"82 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114039431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Twenty-four (24) respondents were involved in this study. Face-to-face Semi-structured interviews were the main method used in data collection. Data collected were analyzed through Thematic and Content analysis. The findings revealed that the Maternity benefit is the only gender-sensitive benefit included in social security schemes. Additionally, the findings revealed that policies, programs, strategies, and laws concerning social protection are gender blind while social security benefits are characterized by the exclusion of paternity benefits and informal sectors. The study concludes that gender-centered social security benefits can be viewed in the design and implementation of social security benefits. The study recommends that the government should reform social security policies to suit gender as a primary factor in its design. The study recommends that members should demand changes in benefits because members’ contribution is a great source of income in social security schemes.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130196620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Saka","doi":"10.52223/jssa21-020403-24","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.52223/jssa21-020403-24","url":null,"abstract":"Coronavirus is a virus whose genome consists of a single strand of ribonucleic acid. The timing and the global environment (China) which COVID-19 originated from has made its spread faster than expected because China had 739 international air travel routes and 51 million people used to travel between China and other countries before the disease outbreak. Therefore, there is a need to investigate the impacts and the mortality rate of this deadly disease in order to consider its insurability. The specific objective of this research is to analytically examine factors affecting the insurability of pandemic risks in the Nigerian insurance business within specified time frame. Different methods/strategies of investigations were conceived to gather data/materials related to the study in order to have comprehensive knowledge on the subject matter. The two statistical tools used are descriptive and inferential. Kaplan Meier Model was used to carry out the hazard estimate based on the computation arrived at using Microsoft Excel package. This study analyzed 167 467 cases reported/observed within seventeen (17) months in Nigeria (Feb 2020-June 2021). The geographical location of this research is global. It is not limited to Nigeria alone but special attention was paid to cases in Nigeria to consider insurability of pandemic risks by the Nigerian insurers. 0.5 connotes equal chance of death and survival. As the value moves closer to 1 from 0.5, the probability risk of death is becoming more certain and vice versa. It is clear from the analysis that as months passed by, the estimated figures began to increase showing that more deaths were being recorded. The lockdown and other safety measures adopted to fight COVID-19 disrupted economic recovery, affected financial markets/services and in turn increased insurance claims. The pandemic impacts on the global insurance markets have been largely affected as a result of weaker premium growth prospects, capital market volatility, asset risks and so on. In time of crisis, losses come as well as opportunities. This study suggested how identified negative impacts of COVID-19 could be minimized while strategizing to maximize the opportunities therein. It also showed analytically how high mortality risk poses threat to insurability of pandemic risks.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125915311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emotions can never be ignored or completely eliminated from one’s life. The point of emotion like nostalgia has immense importance in our social life and the concept of nostalgia has a great shift from organizational environment to expanding marketing world. This research aimed to determine the purchase intention as outcome of nostalgic emotions of customers. This study finds the mediating effect of attachment and attitude in between nostalgic emotions and purchase intention. The data for this research was collected from the customers of Toyota and Honda motors located in two metropolitan cities of Pakistan (i.e Karachi and Lahore). The research has used non-probability sampling technique and cross-sectional research design was adopted. Furthermore, the adopted and modified questionnaire was used as survey instrument. The statistical outcomes were drawn from robust statistical technique, covariance-based structural equation modelling (CB-SEM). The results show that nostalgic emotion has positive and significant effect on purchase intention of customers. Moreover, mediating effect of attitude and attachment was confirmed in between nostalgic emotion and purchase intention. Consequently, this study confirmed that organizations should work on customer attitude and attachment which are the possible causes of nostalgic emotion, it may sufficiently increases customers’ purchase intention.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125160184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Documentation of museum collections is an essential part of museum development because there is no meaningful museum setting without proper documentation. It is through documentation that museum collections would be understood and appreciated by the audience. Initially, documentation of museum collections can be done through manual procedures. Today, with the advent of digital technology, museums are taking another dimension, paradigm shift from analogue to digital. Different cultural organizations have called upon digital documentation of museum collections to sustain the vital information, accessibility and preservation of collections. People can easily access museums online, secure objects, and go in line with sustainable development. The most crucial part of digital documentation is to manage, administer, record keeping and maintenance. Digital museums are drivers of research, education, creativity, employment, entertainment, economic growth and development. Many museums institutions in Africa and other parts of the world are not digitalized. The paper's objectives are to explore digital documentation, its significance, and what digital tools can be used to digitalize museums. The article adopted content analysis, using a secondary source of data. The sources include textbooks, articles in journals, newspapers, pamphlets etc. All these volumes form the data. The paper finds that digital documentation is important in every human endeavour to ascertain sustainable development, easy connectivity with other social development sectors, and protection against illicit trafficking and other crime against museum objects. The paper recommends that museums in Africa should key into digitalization and employ experts to facilitate museum activities professionally.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122719810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A Quasi-Experimental Research using the non-randomized pre-test - post-test control group design and qualitative approach explored the effectiveness of the two teaching methods. The findings indicated that students in flipped classroom instruction and conventional instruction obtained higher scores in the post-test than the pre-test results in the core subjects. But, flipped classroom students got slightly higher mean scores as compared to those students who have been taught in the conventional instruction. However, statistically, no significant difference was found between the two methods in learning the least mastered competencies in Science, Mathematics and English. Further, results revealed that the students who were exposed to flipped classroom instruction and the conventional instruction improved in their level of knowledge in mastering the least learned concepts in the core subjects. The problems encountered in the flipped classroom model, however, were identified based on the interview conducted. It was found out that teachers were unfamiliar with the flipped classroom model and lack of time and resources hindered them to utilize the approach in their classes. Students were also challenged particularly on the availability of resources like gadgets and internet connection that resulted to disengagement of the students to watch the flipped videos at home. This study revealed that whatever method or approach used in teaching least mastered competencies would be considered effective in achieving life-long and meaningful learning. An instructional development program was developed to capacitate and elevate the performance of teachers in the implementation of the flipped classroom instruction to improve students’ performance.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127952301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recent studies found that negative instructor attitudes can prejudice academic achievement and escalation students' psychological syndromes and physical indications of stress. Instructors who use degradation or sarcasm can leave a child feeling demeaned. Discipline by fear and intimidation can harm the student's future achievement. Teachers who are strict in their display of authority or indifferent toward their students or lessons can leave a lingering feeling of negativity. Teachers facilitate the students for improving their performance and always are available to solve their glitches and give courage to the students for innovative thinking. But teaching occupation is seen as poorly managed in recent situations. The main focused area is to recognize students’ difficulties concerning learning. For this purpose, well-trained teachers are required to guide the students. The study's primary objective was to analyse teachers’ behavior for the academic performance of school students in Tehsil Faisalabad, Pakistan. The study population was all the teachers and students of Govt. sector schools, of Tehsil Faisalabad (From Pakistan). The study was conducted at the Institute of Agri. Extension, Education and Rural Development, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. From (88) total number of schools, six schools (3 schools from urban and 3 schools from rural areas) were selected on a random basis 5 students were selected from 6th standard, 5 from 7th standard, 5 from 8th standard) making a sample of 90 students. Three teachers were selected from the selected standards (1 from 6th standard, 1 from 7th standard, 1 from 8th standard). The selected teachers’ samples were eighteen. Two questionnaires were used with a five-point rating scale to collect the views of school teachers and students about the teachers’ behavior regarding the students' academic achievement. The researcher personally visited schools and collected views regarding the behavior of teachers on the academic achievements of students. Quantitative data were analyzed through SPSS. The result also demonstrates that teachers’ behavior directly affects students' academic performance. The analysis of data showed a significant association between teachers’ behavior and students’ academic achievements. It was recommended that teachers behave positively with students and show professionalism so their students will pay attention to their study through such kind of motivation. Most of the students were agreed that they are appreciated by their teacher (a weighted score of 25.00). Most of the students were agreed that communication between teacher and student helps the teacher to understand students' feelings with a weighted score of 31.00. Most of the students were agreed that the students consider their teacher as a role model with a weighted score of 36.00.
