Here we investigated theoretically temperature microsensors based on different glasses, including common silica glass, as well as special germanate, tungsten-tellurite, arsenic sulfide and arsenic selenide glasses. We developed numerical model describing sensing characteristics of the considered microcavities. We found that the calculated temperature sensitivity does not depend on the microsensor size in the examined parameter range. The obtained temperature sensitivities for arsenic sulfide (42.2 pm/K near 1.55 $mu$m) and arsenic selenide (48.1 pm/K near 1.55 $mu$m) glass microcavities are several times larger than for common silica ones; it could facilitate the development of new precise microcavity-based sensors.","PeriodicalId":321952,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Numerical Simulation of Optoelectronic Devices (NUSOD)","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125807508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this contribution, we present two different approaches to determine the missing material and device parameters from measurements. They both have in common that they are based on machine learning (ML) and numerical models. First, a numerical model describing the experiment is used to generate synthetic data to train a machine learning model the underlying material parameters. After successful training, a measurement is presented to the ML model to predict the parameters. In a more recent physics-informed ML approach, we integrate the model into the ML method and thus reduce the training data set.","PeriodicalId":321952,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Numerical Simulation of Optoelectronic Devices (NUSOD)","volume":"129 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127493435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The efficiency of recent multi quantum well (MQW) DUV emitters is still in the percent range which can be in part attributed to the hole injection. The hole injection and the carrier distribution in the high band gap AlGaN active region are not yet well understood. To support the experimental investigation of the current injection and distribution we have performed numerical simulations of a mixed MQW DUV LED series emitting at 233nm and 250 nm. We demonstrate that particularly the emission of the 233nm quantum well is very sensitive to the AlGaN material properties and inhomogeneous broadening. The numerical modelling enables a better interpretation of experimental data.","PeriodicalId":321952,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Numerical Simulation of Optoelectronic Devices (NUSOD)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121245691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hemisphere core shell structures are placed over the surface of the SC to harvest more energy and increase the solar cell efficiency. The GaAs and GaSb are used as core/shell materials to increase the wavelength coupling between the dual cores of the proposed structure. Moreover, the reflection is reduced which enhances the light absorption through the GaAs planar layer. This is due to the difference in the bandgaps between GaAs and GaSb The geometrical parameters of the proposed SC are studied by three dimensional finite difference time domain (3D FDTD) via Lumerical software package to achieve higher optical characteristics. The reported SC has an ultimate efficiency and short circuit current of 26% and 21.8 mA/cm2 compared to 16.8% and 13.7 mA/cm2 of planar GaAs SC without hemisphere design","PeriodicalId":321952,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Numerical Simulation of Optoelectronic Devices (NUSOD)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125157612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the basic chip materials have substantial thermal conductance resulting in thermal crosstalk, which eventually deteriorates the modulator performance in terms of bandwidth and data transmission capabilities. In this work, we simulate and analyze the influence of thermal crosstalk on such a modulator and the mitigation of the same with a deep air trench design. Additionally, we illustrate the improved modulator performance in terms of small-signal bandwidth and eye diagram at higher data rates.","PeriodicalId":321952,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Numerical Simulation of Optoelectronic Devices (NUSOD)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132487773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that under a relatively high fiber nonlinearity and/or intracavity signal amplitude, an excess amount of noise generation occurs, which can not only lead to poor signal quality, but also operational instability. Hence, particularly for applications requiring relatively high power, careful consideration of the self-phase modulation effect is required.","PeriodicalId":321952,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Numerical Simulation of Optoelectronic Devices (NUSOD)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129631302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
