The online questionnaires were distributed to 207 members of academic staff at Moshi Co-operative University. A total of 63 (31%) academics completed the online survey. Convenience sampling was used because the survey was shared through a WhatsApp group, which included the majority of the members of the academic staff. The study findings revealed that instructors had awareness of the use of AI tools in academia however the usage of such technology in academia is still low because it is not officially recognized in academia. The usage of AI tools was revealed to be very useful in enhancing learning and academic writing among instructors. Several AI tools that are used by instructors were identified, including ChatGPT, Bard AI, Grammaly, and Quillbolt. The study identifies several challenges such as inexperience in using AI tools, feelings that AI tools delimit thinking capacity and encourage plagiarism. The study recommends that more training be offered to instructors to create awareness about harnessing the use of AI tools. The study further recommends policies and guidelines on the use of AI tools to be formulated.","PeriodicalId":321345,"journal":{"name":"Edukasiana: Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan","volume":" 46","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141375043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This systematic literature review aims to i), determine the prevalence of existing research and publications on internationalisation practice in the HEIs, and ii), identify new practices that are reported in the scholarly literature and offer these new thoughts on the advancement of effective internationalisation practice in the HEIs. A wide-range strategy was employed to search and identify research papers from Web of Science and Scopus. The chosen papers were between the years 1994 and 2023. Out of 425 results generated, 80 publications representing 65 selected papers were chosen and themed for discussion. Investigating internationalisation in higher education is an in-depth multidisciplinary research approach that assists in determining the effect of HEIs. The findings identified challenges such as a lack of effective policy framework, decolonisation of the curriculum and digital transformation, which requires further studies on strategies for effective internationalisation practice in HEIs. Considering HEI's new focus on internationalisation, it is prudent to carry out more investigation to appreciate internationalisation’s many nuances.","PeriodicalId":321345,"journal":{"name":"Edukasiana: Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan","volume":" 24","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141371824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It specifically examines the nuanced interplay between risk perception and anxiety levels, while also considering the impact of demographic factors such as gender, age, and religion on these psychological aspects. Conducted using a cross-sectional design involving 778 participants, the study employs regression analysis to unveil a significant positive association between perceived risk and risk perception, accounting for 56% of its variability. Furthermore, multivariate analysis of variance underscores the substantial overall effect of predictors on both risk perception and anxiety levels. Notably, age emerges as a significant influence on students' risk perception and anxiety levels. By shedding light on how college students perceive and cope with risks amidst the ongoing pandemic, this study offers valuable insights into the complex relationship between demographic variables and psychological responses. Ultimately, these findings can inform strategies aimed at supporting students during challenging times.","PeriodicalId":321345,"journal":{"name":"Edukasiana: Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan","volume":" 26","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141374196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study determined whether academic integrity and innovative assessment concerns affect how university teachers utilize diverse AI tools in educational assessment. It also investigated if university teachers’ perception of using AI tools is likely to be associated with their tendency to personalize AI use at universities in the country. The study adopted inferential research design. 3,083 university teachers comprised the population in the study, out of which the sample of 322 participants who are professors, associate professors, and senior lecturers from government and privately-owned universities, were randomly selected for the study. The instrument was a 4-point scale questionnaire titled: “University Teachers’ Perception and Utilization of AI Questionnaire (UTPUAIQ).” The data were analyzed using independent t-test, Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Chi-Square statistics, as percentile analysis was explored using simple percentage statistical procedure. The results revealed that academic integrity concerns have an influence on how university teachers perceive AI use in assessment; that perception for innovative assessment concerns at university significantly affects how university teachers utilize diverse AI tools in educational assessment; and that university teachers’ perception of using AI tools is likely to be associated with their tendency to personalize AI use at universities. It was concluded that AI use in educational assessment is in itself not harmful but the potential risks involved must be mitigated as it is deployed for use for students’ assessment at universities in Nigeria. Hence, there is a need to ensure the ethical, inclusive and equitable use of AI in educational assessment at universities in the country.","PeriodicalId":321345,"journal":{"name":"Edukasiana: Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan","volume":" 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141371694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Atheists often encounter various challenges, including homophobia, misogyny, and other doctrines preached by the church, within their immediate social circles. Despite these negative experiences, the persistent appeal of atheism, driven by the secular movement, continues to attract individuals. This research delves into the experiences of students attending a science high school who identify as atheists, aiming to collect and analyze their personal narratives. The study adopts a qualitative approach with a focus on phenomenology, emphasizing the participants' stories and lived experiences. Data was gathered through interviews with atheist students from the Philippine Science High School Ilocos Region Campus, conducted both online and in-person, and analyzed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis. The data revealed three major themes: Reasons (kadahilanan), Challenges (kaakuhan), and Understand (kaunawaan). Within the Motivation theme, five subthemes emerged: non-religious upbringing, rational thinking, the rejection of hypocrisy, and resistance to bigotry. Similarly, the Acceptance theme included five subthemes: individuality, open-mindedness, misconceptions, pressure to conform to religious practices, and social antagonization. Finally, the Understand theme encompassed four subthemes: involvement in the atheist movement, forming supportive bonds, dealing with mass religious activities, and addressing curriculum-related issues. Based on the collected data, there is a need to strengthen policies that promote the expression of diverse beliefs, including the practice of atheism.","PeriodicalId":321345,"journal":{"name":"Edukasiana: Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan","volume":" 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141375016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research study used interpretive paradigm because it believes everything is based on experience. Six ECD teachers of these two were Teachers- in- charge were purposively sampled. Data were generated using interviews and observation. Data were presented in narratives and analysed in themes. Findings from the research indicated that all the respondents gained knowledge on ECD learners’ literacy development through immense training. The perspectives of teachers vary among individuals, however, views expressed by the participants had a connotation of negativity and lack of provisions for the implementation of literacy tasks to ECD learners. It was also observed and confirmed that all visited schools lack provisions such as textbooks and infrastructure that is meant to develop ECD learners’ literacy development. The only observable provisions in visited classrooms were wall charts, reading cards and improvised libraries which as a result inspire boredom to ECD learners since there is nothing interesting to them. The study concludes that there is a great influence on environmental factors since they impel literacy development in ECD learners. The research recommends further studies on literacy development with ECD learners in a different town or community as this might not be affecting one district only.  The research study can redirect teachers to approach literacy development in a more positive and robust way.","PeriodicalId":321345,"journal":{"name":"Edukasiana: Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan","volume":" 35","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141374418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For instance, they struggle to interpret the error messages they see when their code fails to run. Since teaching standards in coding are focused primarily on whether a student’s code runs successfully, students are often penalized in their grades not for the effort they put into their work but for the code they turn in. Automated grading tools deployed in educational institutions, unfortunately, make the issue worse. In this work, we discuss a novel approach to motivate students to learn coding by shifting the focus of both educators and students from outcomes to the process behind the outcomes. In this study, educators and students are introduced to a new tool, Process Feedback (PF), which shows each student’s work as a visual journey. After using both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, the paper discusses how using PF can help students code insightfully and help educators grade quickly and thoroughly. Our findings reveal that tools such as PF can be beneficial in addressing challenges in learning to code and encouraging students to be original in the age of AI. The results also imply that the incorporation of process-oriented learning tools can make coding education more effective and that the process-centric approach can play a key role in the development and effectiveness of educational tools for students.  ","PeriodicalId":321345,"journal":{"name":"Edukasiana: Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan","volume":"41 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140979335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new government has introduced various policies that are impacting people's lives differently from before. One of these policies is placing  limitations on the education of women, signaling a significant shift in how educational opportunities are being provided to female students. The study adopted a qualitative case study with a sample of female school students across five provinces of Afghanistan, including Kabul, Herat, Bamiyan, Farah and Jalalabad. Each of the five provinces represented by 10 students, for 50 respondents. The findings of the research highlights that depriving girls of education has had a number of detrimental effects on them, including emotional and psychological issues, forced marriage, migration, a loss of hope for the future, and other long-term effects. The study highlights the value of providing girls with equal educational opportunities and contributes to the creation of more effective policies and methods to guarantee girls' access to education in Afghanistan and other countries facing similar difficulties.","PeriodicalId":321345,"journal":{"name":"Edukasiana: Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan","volume":"13 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140742010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
