Familial adenomatous polyposis is caused by mutations in the APC gene (5q21). According to new research, in addition to nuclear disorders, mitochondrial functional disorders are also one of the essential carcinogenic factors and also a promising target for cancer treatment. The aim of this study was to investigate the nucleotide changes of mitochondrial ATPase6 and MT-CYB genes in patients with FAP. \u0000Methods: In this study, 9 Iranian families with Familial adenomatous polyposis were investigated to study mutations in mitochondrial genes. For this purpose, a fragment with the length of 558bp containing the ATPase6 gene and also a fragment containing the MT-CYB gene with a length of 853bp were studied using the Touchdown-PCR method and sequencing. Sequencing results were analyzed with several bioinformatics software and databases, including ExPASy, SIFT, PSIPRED, PolyPhen-2, I-Mutant, PROVEAN, PredictSNP, and PyMol. \u0000Results: In this research, five mutations were observed in the mitochondrial ATPase6 gene. Three mutations were synonymous (c.A8901G; p.L125L, c.C8958T; p.I144I and c.C8943T; p.P139P) and two non-synonymous mutations (c.T8780C; p.L85P and c.G9133A; p.E203K). Furthermore, two synonymous mutations (c.A15607G; p.K287K and c.C15833T; p.L363L) and one non-synonymous mutation (c.C15452A; p.L236I) were observed in the MT-CYB gene. \u0000Conclusion: In this study, ATPase6 and MT-CYB genes were investigated in the patients with Familial adenomatous polyposis, and 5 and 3 mutations and nucleotide changes were observed in affected patients, respectively. Considering that mitochondrial genome mutations can play a role in tumorigenesis, identifying new mutations can be effective in early cancer diagnosis. More studies are needed to confirm the association between mitochondrial mutations and FAP disease.

So far, many variations have been reported in the brachial network, which are clinically important. The plexus has three cords, one of which is the medial cord. The medial cutaneous nerve of the arm and the medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm are the branches of the medial cord that innervate the skin of the medial surface of the arm and forearm, respectively. In this study, a rare variation was observed in the branches of the medial cord of the brachial plexus during the dissection of the upper limb of an approximately 80-year-old man in the Dissection Hall of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, Iran. Thus, in normal condition, there is no connection between the medial cutaneous nerve of the arm and the medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm, and each of them innervates the skin of the medial arm and forearm separately, but in this case, these two nerves are connected. And since knowing this type of variation is very important for surgeons, more studies are needed to determine its prevalence in the population.

Orlistat is one of the common weight-loss drugs, but preclinical studies about its effect on mood have not been performed. The aim of this study was evaluating the effect of orlistat alone and following inducing stress on mice depressive behavior. \u0000Methods: In this fundamental-applied study, male white mice (27±2 g), in six groups having 7 animals were used. Orlistat was administered orally and imipramine (positive control) was injected intraperitonealy daily, depression was induced by the water avoidance stress (WAS) model during 14 days. The activity was evaluated by the Locomotor Activity Test, depression was assessed by measuring the immobility time during the forced swimming test (FST), food consumption in novelty suppressed feeding test (NSFT), and the sucrose preference test. \u0000Results: Orlistat (25 mg/kg) did not change the locomotor activity. Stress increased the duration of immobility in the forced swimming test compared to the stress control group (98±2.2 seconds, P<0.001). The difference in immobility time between orlistat group and the control group was insignificant, the difference in immobility time between orlistat-WAS group and WAS alone group was also insignificant (P>0.05). The difference in the results of latency and food consumption during novelty suppressed feeding test in orlistat group compared to the control group and between orlistat-WAS group compared with the WAS alone group were insignificant. In orlistat-WAS group the sucrose preference increased (69/8 %). Imipramine reduced depressive behavior in mice. \u0000Conclusion: Orlistat administration did not induce depressive behavior in animals and it did not augment depression when administered during WAS.
