To avoid these problems, we propose a novel control system consisting of a line characteristics identifier and a 2nd-order filter. The identifier provides the line frequency characteristics observed from the point of the active power filter. The parameters of the 2nd-order filter are determined according to the identified characteristics. We obtained good results of both simulations and experiments using a prototype model.","PeriodicalId":320424,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Power Conversion Conference-Osaka 2002 (Cat. Based on the conventional paralleled two-switch forward transformer link hard switching converter this circuit configuration does not include complex auxiliary resonant circuit except for an output side tapped-inductor smoothing filter. This new DC-DC converter has advantages as wide soft-switching operation range under broad load variations and PWM regulations, lowered level of the idle and circulating currents through circuit components, small ripple output voltage. The basic operating principle of the converter is illustrated by equivalent circuit for each mode with detailed explanation. Moreover, the feasible practical effectiveness of the proposed soft-switching DC-DC power converter realized on the 500 W 100 kHz breadboard setup is verified and evaluated on basis of simulation and experimental results.","PeriodicalId":320424,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Power Conversion Conference-Osaka 2002 (Cat. A control scheme of the proposed rectifier is proposed to draw a sinusoidal line current with nearly unity power factor, achieve balanced neutral point voltage and regulate DC bus voltage. An AC power switch is employed in the power circuit to generate three-level pulsewidth modulation (PWM) voltage on the AC terminal. Hysteresis current control scheme is used to track the line current in phase with mains voltage. The line current command is derived from a voltage controller and a phase-locked loop circuit. A capacitor voltage compensator is employed in the proposed control algorithm to achieve the balanced neutral point voltage. To investigate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, the experimental results based on a laboratory prototype circuit are performed.","PeriodicalId":320424,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Power Conversion Conference-Osaka 2002 (Cat. When Ebm is made high, it serves so as to be able to improve the efficiency of a magnetron. Thus, the magnetron with 7% higher oscillation voltage than the former one is developed by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.Ltd, In addition to this, the reduced harmonic type AC-DC converter suitable for driving this magnetron is proposed lately. This inverter type converter has the voltage-boost function of an active clamp scheme with soft switching pulse modulation strategy topology. This paper describes a novel type of active clamp AC-DC converter circuit and the operation of this converter which was developed. The system consists of a GTO inverter operating in a square-wave mode and a neutral-point-clamped IGBT inverter operating in a PWM mode. The former produces a base part of the resultant output. The latter produces an additional part of the resultant output as well as eliminates the harmonic components generated by the GTO inverter. A basic control strategy for both inverter and rectifier operation of the system is proposed. Furthermore, an attainable output capacity, device losses, and current THD of the hybrid system, when available devices in the market are used, are estimated. It is concluded that the hybrid system has an advantage over the others in terms of efficiency and harmonic distortion.","PeriodicalId":320424,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Power Conversion Conference-Osaka 2002 (Cat. The model is developed with the help of the d-q coordinates transformation. It can be used to accurately and simply analyze transient characteristics of the integrated system around the fundamental frequency, instead of analyzing a complex AC-DC system taking into account the behavior of switching devices. The analysis makes the following assumptions: the system is balanced, and the three-phase supply currents are continuous; supply current harmonics in the integrated system are not so large as to affect the transient characteristics; and the DC load is resistive. The analysis using the DC model tells us that either increasing the active filter gain or decreasing the cut-off frequency of the harmonic detector results in a slow response, and causes a large and long transient of the DC voltage. Simulation results using the EMTDC software package verify the validity of the proposed DC model.","PeriodicalId":320424,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Power Conversion Conference-Osaka 2002 (Cat. In vector control, high performance is realized by decoupling control. In the case of the conventional state-equation, the physical operation, of the induction motor is difficult to understand from the decoupled state-equation. This is because, in the conventional state-equation, the dimension of the summing point has no physical meaning. To overcome this problem, a new state-equation of induction motor is proposed. In this equation, all branches of the summing point, have voltage dimension, and the equation enables easy understanding of the physical operation of the machine, and it is easy to design the control system for decoupling.","PeriodicalId":320424,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Power Conversion Conference-Osaka 2002 (Cat. In 1983 independently Akagi, Kanazawa and Nabae introduced the original \"theory of instantaneous power\"; valid with few restrictions for N=3. Because of more problems at N=4 Nabae and coauthors introduced a modified version of the instantaneous power theory in 1995. By a discussion of this modified power theory Akagi and coauthors in 1999 showed, that under certain conditions, the modified theory leads to compensation results inferior to those resulting from the original theory. Because both theories do not present optimal compensation rules under all conditions of four-wire systems, this paper gives the compensation rules based on the older generally valid FBD power theory and analyses the differences with regard to the other theories.","PeriodicalId":320424,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Power Conversion Conference-Osaka 2002 (Cat.
