So, the researchers are working towards the improvement of performance in media playability using proxy caching schemes. Many proxy caching schemes are developed to partially caching the video objects. Even the cache size of proxy server is very large it is limited to number of video objects to be cached at a time. Thus, the proxy cache must be optimized when more number of video objects need to be cached. This cache optimization can be achieved using good cache replacement policies. In this paper, we propose a Dual Cache Replacement Policy (DCRP) on Hot-Point Proxy (HPProxy) caching. The HPProxy works on all kind of objects and best suitable for the objects which has no popularity value. Our DCRP works based on two phases; Least Recently Loaded and Least Weighted Objects (LRLWO) and Least Weighted Sectors (LWS). The LRLWO worked as first phase on objects which are loaded least recently (oldness of the object) and Least weighted Objects. The LWS worked as second phase on sectors (a measureable unit of video object) which have low access pattern percentage and low download time. The event driven simulation results show that the dual cache replacement policy produces good cache optimization on HPProxy. Our methodology is best suitable for popularity based and non-popularity based cache optimization.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126046820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is mainly due to the development of abnormal new blood vessels in the retina. In this approach, we proposed an efficient method to detect the abnormal new blood vessels. The retinal images are pre-processed using Adaptive Histogram Equalization (AHE) and the blood vessels are enhanced by applying Top-hat and Bottom-hat transforms. The enhanced image is segmented using Fuzzy C Means Clustering (FCM) technique. Features based on shape, brightness, position and contrast are extracted from the segmented image and classified as normal or abnormal using K Nearest Neighbour (KNN) Classifier. The performance was evaluated on DRIVE and MESSIDOR database and an accuracy of 96.5% was obtained.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114605684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fading is the time variation of channel strength due to environmental effect. Interference limits the capacity of spectral resource. Fading can be mitigated with cooperative transmission, as it helps to achieve diversity among user, whereas Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technique exploits interference by jointly processing the user data. Cooperative communication is type of antenna diversity among other diversity technique and there are different cooperation protocols for various scenarios. We present a review of currently known technique for Multi user MIMO cooperation and consideration of research issues related to performance. The study includes models for network, grouping and partner selection algorithm, coded cooperation and finally adaptive technique for power and bandwidth efficiency.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124027660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key concept of this EPCMAC protocol is to improve the throughput and to save energy by sending all the packets with optimal transmit power. This communication approach promises improved throughput and delay performance by effective use of spatial diversity in wireless ad hoc networks. Also, the power of the data packets is periodically raised to a suitable level but not to the maximum so that it will avoid interference and unnecessary contention between nodes. Throughput enhancement of a wireless ad hoc at the MAC layer is achieved through spatial reuse of the channel by allowing concurrent transmissions as much as possible among neighboring nodes. Simulation results show that a considerable gain in throughput as well as high reduction in energy consumption can be obtained by EPCMAC protocol compared to the existing protocol.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128884140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the portability requirement in telecommunication systems, there is a need for low power hardware implementation of Fast Fourier Transforms algorithm. The FFT processor is the most computationally intensive component in OFDM communication, the power efficiency improvement of this component can have great impacts on the overall system.. In this paper, we present an efficient implementation of a reconfigurable FFT/IFFT processor for wireless applications. Our design adopts a single-path delay feedback style as to eliminate the read-only memories (ROM's) which is used to store the twiddle factors. Elimination of ROM done by applying the proposed reconfigurable complex constant multiplier and bit-parallel multipliers, thus consuming lower power than the existing works.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123516610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
