Source mobile stations (MSs) exploit these infrastructure based relays to communicate with the base station (BS). The links D and T connecting the source MS to the BS and the source MS to the relays, respectively are assumed to be frequency non-selective and the link R from the relays to the BS is assumed to experience Nakagami-m fading. Specifically, in this paper, we investigate the performance of cooperative diversity in the context of UL communications with singular value decomposition (SVD) based transmitter preprocessing (TP) at the relays to mitigate multi-user interference (MUI) at the BS for two cases, (i) the relays are far away from each other so that MUI at the relays is negligible and (ii) the relays are closer to each other so that MUI is dominant. Our simulation studies show that this TP aided relay diversity system performs well in multi-user interference limited environment by completely eliminating the uplink MUI. Moreover, this approach results in better achievable bit error rate (BER) than conventional cooperative diversity system employing multiuser detection (MUD).","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125808323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally optimum power allocation improves the efficiency of wireless systems. When power allocation is properly done, source information can reach the destination efficiently. The problem of power allocation in relay assisted wireless system is investigated here with Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) at the destination terminal. Based on the SNR and BER, power is allocated to the network terminals using water filling power allocation scheme. It is observed that water filling power allocation scheme allocates more power for the network terminals with less noise. Also based on the users channel capacity optimized power allocation is done. Hence the channel serves good enough in transmitting the source information to the destination.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"202 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117098974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The obstacle is sensed using a proximity sensor. We have determined the turning angle as a function of distance between the sensor and the obstacle. We evaluated the fuzzy rules for different sets of conditions. Our simulation study shows that the fuzzy algorithm outperforms the classical algorithms such as steer away from centre and steer away from surface for autonomous navigation. Further, in this correspondence, we present the way we developed the fuzzy logic controller along with liquid crystal display (LCD) controller, universal asynchronous receiver transmitter (UART), American standard code for information interchange (ASCII) to binary converter and binary to ASCII converter using verilog and implemented in Spartan 3E field programmable gate array (FPGA). It is extensively demonstrated through the implementation the way a data intensive algorithm can be coded using a hardware description language and tested on an FPGA before being tapped out into an integrated circuit (IC) in a manufacturing process.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130535319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Interference due to multi hop transmission and potential isolated nodes are the major obstacles to achieve high performance. In order to avoid problem related to multi hop transmission we adopt a heterogeneous Wi-Fi mesh network which can provide more efficiency by implementing Open Shortest Path (OSPF) protocol standard to it. Here in this paper a Wi-Fi router of later version which works on Ad-Hoc On Demand Vector (AODV) protocol standard is first studied and our newly emphasized network architecture with OSPF implementation has been compared. The change in efficiency standard and link quality performance of our newly designed Wi-Fi architecture is analyzed with Qualnet 5.02 simulator.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123991287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Co-channel interference is considered as a parameter to analyze the performance of IEEE 802.16j based relay networks. Frequency reuse technique is a way to improve the frequency utilization. Since the same frequency band is used by Relay stations and Base Station, co-channel interference within a cell becomes a major problem. This degrades the uniform Quality of Service (QoS) within the cell. As an effective way to analyze the co-channel interference, signals are retransmitted again by the transmitting stations. From the simulation results it is observed that when the number of mobile stations is increased, signal to interference ratio (SIR) is improved.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126015471","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general, a gesture is a sequence of interactions with the application, which represents one of the Specified symbols. A mouse gesture is a continuous, directed sequence of the mouse cursor movements with the clearly distinguished start and end. A set of gestures may be stored in a database called gesture classes for each user. Users are allowed to select a set of random images and a gesture for each image. Some tolerance level is also given for each gesture. When logging in if the user draws the correct gesture using mouse the user will be treated as an authenticated user. Mouse gestures are captured through bounding box and corner detection algorithms. This method provides more security than cued click points where the user is allowed to click on a particular point called pass point for authentication which is more vulnerable to hackers.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129124802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When automating a home load not available in the visible range, Fault identification system in this design helps the user to ensure that their home appliances had gone exactly ON or OFF or undergone FAULT by getting the status from load end, unlike the other design that gets the status at user end which may give a false indication, when power supply is not available for the particular load or when load get open circuited (due to wire discontinuity or open fuse condition). During user screen navigation and controlling home appliances voice output of the current screen information and status of the automated appliances enables visually impaired person to use the system to control their home appliances. Navigation of the screen by giving voice commands enables paralyzed person and person who lost their hands in an unfortunate accident to control their home loads along with normal person. For achieving wireless environment low cost zigbee is used. To provide security based authentication RFID is used. Each home load will be having two commands ON and OFF commands, Automation of 20 loads such as mixer, grinder, TV, refrigerator, fan, light, AC etc..., has been tested by giving 40 voice commands through personal computer. When user creates his own profile and automates the load speech recognition accuracy of more than 90% is achieved. Other people who were allowed to automate the load by the user can use user profile and achieve a speech recognition accuracy of 75% in the same personal computer.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124219867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spatial multiplexing and spatial diversity can be achieved by combing VBLAST and STBC processing. In IDMA, user specific interleaving pattern is used to distinguish different users as against signature sequence in the conventional code division multiple access (CDMA) system. In MC-IDMA system, the multi carrier is realized by orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), which can eliminate the effects of time dispersion. At the mobile station (MS), non-linear multi-user detection (MUD) based on zero forcing (ZF) rule is employed to mitigate the effects of multiple access interference (MAI) and multi stream interference (MSI) in the context of downlink multi input multi output (MIMO) MC-IDMA system. In particular, we investigate the effects of three types of delay-spread distributions pertaining to Stanford university interim (SUI) channel models in MIMO MC-IDMA system. We also compare the performance of the considered system with double space-time transmit diversity (DSTTD) aided MC-IDMA system. It is demonstrated through computer simulations that coded MC-IDMA system with joint VBLAST/STBC processing is capable of achieving better bit error rate (BER) as compared to DSTTD system.","PeriodicalId":320235,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122105414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The TP considered in our work needs the channel impulse response (CIR) matrix of all the interfering relays which is obtained by assuming the so called `inter-cell relay cooperation'. Further, the TP employed in our work is based on the regularized block diagonalization (RBD) approach. We also analyze the performance of the considered system with the aid of an optimal power allocation (OPA) regime. Our simulation study shows that TP aided inter-cell relay cooperation assisted DL communications can provide better achievable bit error rate (BER) compared to a conventional relay assisted system invoking linear multi-user detection (MUD) at the mobile terminals (MTs) for signal detection.
