In the estimation process, an exponential function is utilized to modify the variances of measurements in anticipation of enhancing the estimation performance and improving the convergence characteristics. Besides, with the aid of Monte Carlo method (MCM)-based clustering analysis, those bad data can be effectively identified from the set of raw measurements. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, this method has been tested under different scenarios. Test results help confirm the feasibility of the method for the applications considered.","PeriodicalId":320068,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Intelligent Systems Applications to Power Systems","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117081844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By changing on/off status of sectionalizing-switches and tie-switches on a distribution system, feeder reconfiguration can be achieved. Also, the configured system must satisfy operation conditions as well as restrictions. Since the reconfiguration is done by changing the status of switches, it can be categorized as a discrete combinational optimization problem. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is the one of the methods that can be used to solve optimal problems. Typical PSO is designed for continuous functions optimization, it is not designed for discrete functions optimization. Therefore, the operators of PSO algorithm must be reviewed and redefined to fit the application field of distribution feeder reconfiguration. This paper proposed a method which modifies the operators of PSO's formula based on the characters of both status of switches and shift operator to construct the binary coding particle swarm optimization for feeder reconfiguration. The test results show that the proposed method can apply to feeder reconfiguration effectively.","PeriodicalId":320068,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Intelligent Systems Applications to Power Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129821763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the market model, generators' ramp rate constraints are explicitly represented. In order to fully characterize the inter-temporal nature of the ramp rate constraints, a dynamic game model is presented. The subgame perfect Nash equilibrium is adopted as the solution of the game and the backward induction procedure is designed. Due to the inter-temporal nature of the ramp rate constraints, the subgame perfect Nash equilibrium strategy should be a Markov strategy. This, in turn, suggests that the subgame perfect Nash equilibrium of the proposed game should be characterized as the Markov perfect equilibrium. Finally, two examples including a simple discrete strategy example and a numerical illustration of applying the proposed approach are presented.","PeriodicalId":320068,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Intelligent Systems Applications to Power Systems","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130045973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the complicity of the power transformer structure and the variations in operating conditions, the occurrence of a fault inside power transformer is uncertain and random. Until now, the fault statistics of power transformer is very limited due to the low fault rate. A novel fault tree analysis method based on fuzzy set theory is proposed for power transformer. Using this method, the index of fault rate can be converted into fuzzy number of fault rate. The method of expert grading can be used to perform the probability of fault estimation without the requirement for corresponding statistics information. The details of fuzzy number design are described in the paper and an application example of the method is also provided. The results show that the proposed fuzzy fault tree analysis method is flexible and adaptive for fault diagnose of power transformer. Therefore, it is a useful engineering tool for the fault analysis and prevention of power transformer.","PeriodicalId":320068,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Intelligent Systems Applications to Power Systems","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130742574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a method using wind generator voltage, static compensator and transformer tap as controllers to regulate the voltage profile in the distribution system. Through Genetic Algorithms (GAs), the MW loss in the system is minimized and the operational constraints are fulfilled. Two encodings are adopted/compared in the proposed method, namely binary-tabulated code and Gray code.
