This was done using a psychometric test (Kuder and Richardson formula) and APOS Theory after they had been taught the relevant content. The 41 participants were second-year students in the Department of Statistics at the Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji. They were given a class test comprising eleven (11) objective questions, and 4 questions relating to group theory were extracted for this analysis. After that, six (6) students were interviewed to gain insight into their perspectives. It was observed that most of the students had difficulty understanding the concept of algebraic groups about complex numbers, founded on not seeing the relevance in the prerequisite knowledge of an algebraic group. Also, if the reliability test of the question is unacceptable, then a good percentage of the participant lacked the mental construction relating to APOS to answer such a question. \u0000Keywords: Complex Number, Algebraic group, Prerequisite, Difficulty, Discrimination index, Psychometrics. \u0000

This study identifies several philosophers' thoughts about the perspective of research results in the field of ethnomathematics. The debating paradigm in culturally based mathematical research. This study aims to describe ethnomathematics from various perspectives; the research method used is literature study. One effort to improve students' ability to understand mathematical concepts is to use a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning approach that encourages students to be able to open their mindsets in finding new knowledge, developing creativity, and making students active explorers by doing the mathematical activities directly with the facilities prepared by the teacher during the learning process. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 21 Serang in 2021/2022 which aims to determine the effect of learning Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) on the ability to understand mathematical concepts of junior high school students on line and angle material. The research method used in this study is a quasi-experimental design with the nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group type of design. This study involved two classes consisting of experimental and control classes. The sample of this study was class VII D, which consisted of 30 students as the experimental class and VII A, which consisted of 30 students as the control class. The experimental class applies the STEM learning approach and the control class applies conventional learning. The instrument used is in the form of a test description of the ability to understand mathematical concepts. The data from this study were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the final achievement and improvement of students' ability to understand mathematical concepts using the STEM learning approach in learning mathematics is better than students using conventional learning. Thus, the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning approach can be applied to improve the ability to understand mathematical concepts of junior high school students.

Underpinned by a positivist paradigm, the present study employed a quantitative research approach and a survey design. Data was collected from three hundred and fifty-nine mathematics student teachers who were preparing to become mathematics teachers once they had obtained a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree. Data collected was therefore analyzed through the use of descriptive statistics. Lifelong learning skills, self-assessment, self-belief, teaching awareness, and reflective thinking were all examined using a framework based on five components. Research findings revealed that while reflective thinking practices are often emphasized in teacher education programs, results clearly show that the process of reflective practices is conceptualized differently by female and male participants. Research findings also revealed that constructs such as lifelong learning skills, self-assessment ability, and teaching awareness have a more decisive influence on male participants than their female counterparts. This resulted in male participants having less perception of the usefulness of reflective thinking practices. Based on the findings, it was suggested that various support systems should be developed in mathematics teacher education programs to facilitate more independent and self-directed reflective thinking practices among both female and male mathematics students teachers. \u0000Keywords: Classroom Practices, Gender GAP, Reflective Thinking, Self-Belief, Teacher Education.
