This material has been designed such that its temperature coefficient value is -1.02ppm/°C, which is near to zero. The microwave dielectric constant (εr) and permeability (μr) are determined by Hakki-Coleman dielectric resonator method and Nicholson-Ross-Weir conversion technique and found to be 8.02 and 1.64 respectively. The designed antenna shows its radiation toward two directions 46° and 308° at the resonance frequency of 4.81GHz, hence can be utilised for angle diversity. The bandwidth of the antenna is 400MHz, which is suitable for the application of Radiolocation and Fixed Mobile & Satellite communication. The obtained gain on both radiated directions is 2.93 dB and 3.72 dB respectively. This proposed antenna has been fabricated and there is good agreement between the simulated and measured results.","PeriodicalId":318875,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication (ICSC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129268842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among all the spectrum sensing techniques energy detection is preferable because it is simple and prior knowledge of primary user is not required, but conventional energy detection is not preferable in low SNR regions. In this paper we discuss a cooperative double threshold method with two thresholds which are decided by an uncertainty parameter. In the confusion region we use a weighted sequential energy detection (WSED) method which considers a fixed number of past observations. For making a decision in confusion region, both the current and past observations are weighted and aggregated. Equations for probability of detection and probability of false alarm in Rayleigh channel are derived for the discussed scheme. Numerical results shows that the scheme gives better performance as compared to the conventional method.","PeriodicalId":318875,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication (ICSC)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115294241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to this, we have also analyzed the outage capacity limits over the fading channel, when the partial channel state information is provided to SU by the PU in the form of mean and variance. However, the minimum mean square error (MMSE) channel estimation technique is used to estimate the channel gain of SU and PU link. The outage capacity limit is analyzed under joint transmit power and interference outage power constraints. Moreover, the effect of error variance and outage constraint over the fading channel is also analyzed with constant peak transmit power of the SU.","PeriodicalId":318875,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication (ICSC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116477931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This framework consists of breaking the reconstruction process into two parts viz. primary and secondary. The primary part consists of simple algebraic iterative technique using Simultaneous Algebraic Reconstruction Technique (SART) for image reconstruction. The task of primary reconstruction will be to provide an enhanced image to secondary part to be used as an initial estimate for reconstruction process. The secondary part is a hybrid combination of two parts namely the reconstruction part and the prior part. The reconstruction is done using Maximum Likelihood Expectation Maximization (MLEM) while median anisotropic diffusion (MedAD) filter is used as prior to deal with ill-posedness. Using primary and secondary reconstruction steps in a cascaded manner, yields significant improvements in reconstructed image quality. It also accelerates the convergence and provides enhanced results using the projection data. The obtained results justify the applicability of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":318875,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication (ICSC)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117013018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In work published till date antennas used in rectenna are of limited bandwidth or bulky. This paper presents an E-patch antenna with improved bandwidth and efficiency. Techniques to make trade-offs required for widening the frequency band without variation in efficiency are introduced. The E-patch is electro-magnetically coupled with similar patches and the feeding point location is decided for further increase in bandwidth. An increase of 33% in bandwidth is noticeable with an advantage of multiband operation. The Epatch is investigated for WLAN frequency bands and the coupled patch is investigated for ISM as well as WLAN frequencies.","PeriodicalId":318875,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication (ICSC)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115100747","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The efforts made in this direction during past relating to security systems for mobile devices has been a major concern and methods like draw pattern unlock, passcodes, facial and voice recognition technologies have already been employed to a fair level of extent, but these are quiet susceptible to hacks and greater ratio of recognition failure errors (especially in cases of voice and facial). A next step in HMI would be use of fingertip tracking based unlocking mechanism, which would employ minimalistic hardware like webcam or smartphone front camera. Image acquisition through MATLAB is followed up by conversion to grayscale and application of optimal filter for edge detection utilized in different conditions for optimal results in recognizing fingertips up to a precise level of accuracy. Pattern is traced at 60 fps for tracking and tracing and therefore cross referenced with the training image by deployment of neural networks for improved recognition efficiency. Data is registered in real time and device is unlocked at instance when SSIM takes a value above predefined threshold percentage or number. The aforementioned mechanism is employed in applications via user friendly GUI frontend and computational modelling through MATLAB for backend.","PeriodicalId":318875,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication (ICSC)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117333951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structures can assist in bandwidth enhancement by effectively reducing surface waves excitation in patch antennas. Unlike normal surface, EBG surface are selective in supporting surface waves. The same is affected in this paper to design patch antenna with its resonant frequency lying in the band gap of EBG substrate. The paper analyses the performance of single patch antenna and patch antenna array embedded with EBG substrate. It is observed that the performance of the realized antenna is found to be better as compared to microstrip patch antenna using conventional substrates. Simulation results show improvements in the return loss, gain, directivity, front to back ratio and the radiation efficiency. Further reduction in mutual coupling between different antenna elements is also realized.","PeriodicalId":318875,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication (ICSC)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125721257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes how optical fibers can be placed in a room to collect unused light and then transmit it to an area needing the illumination. By this method an efficiency can be realized by a reduction in the number or power consumption of luminaires. The light that is emitted from the fiber is measured in relation to fiber-to-source distances and alignments. The emission profiles of the optical fibers at different fiber-to-source distances and misalignments, as well as fiber-end preparation, affect the lighting distribution in the receiving area.","PeriodicalId":318875,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication (ICSC)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131744273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed filter can realize three filtering functions namely, low pass (LP), band pass (BP) and high pass (HP), simultaneously. It is also capable of realizing band reject (BR) and all pass (AP) responses. The pole frequency and quality factor of the proposed circuit can be electronically and orthogonally tuned via only biasing currents of the MCCTA.
