The article provides phytocenotic and bioecological characteristics of Xanthium strumarium L. in Quba and Khachmaz regions. It has been established that X. strumarium occurs along roadsides, railways, on wastelands, and also forms communities on forest outskirts, along open water channels and along the coastlines of the Caspian. The communities with the dominance of X. strumarium described in natural habitats are characterized by us as groupings, associations, and formations. The species is invasive. The study of the underground part of the plant showed that its root system can change depending on the soil moisture regime. Plant with taproot of 10-20 cm grows on dry and periodically humidified due to moisture of atmospheric precipitation areas (wastelands, roadside strips, household plots, light forest coenoses). Reproduction is exclusively by seed. In areas with high or “swampy” type of moisture and salinity (riverine strip, coastal sands, ditches, water channels, etc.), the root system is located in the upper soil horizon (5-10 cm), numerous root shoots of 30-40 cm long extend from the main root. In this case, reproduction can occur both interchangeably and vegetatively. The invasive activity of the species is facilitated by the features of biology: the efficiency of seed distribution, the ability to vegetative reproduction, resistance to all forms of anthropogenic impact, and wide ecological amplitude. In spite of this, the invasive activity of X. strumarium is limited by vertical zoning and by more highly competitive invasive species ‒ Amaranthus retroflexus, Xanthium spinozum.","PeriodicalId":318516,"journal":{"name":"Plant & Fungal Research","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115305624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mushroom specimens were collected during field surveys in Shaki-Zagatala region in 2013-2019 and identified by morphological features. Along with phenotypic features, the size, shape and color of spores, recent taxonomic and nomenclature updates were taken into account. The most common edible mushroom species in the district are Boletus aereus , B. reticulatus , Leccinum pseudoscabrum , while most widespread poisonous species are Amanita pantherina , Coprinus picaceus and Hypholoma fasciculare . Few of edible species, such as Butyriboletus appendiculatus , Lepista nuda and Tuber aestivum are rare on this territory, and Galerina marginata and Rubroboletus satanas are rare poisonous mushrooms. Russula heterophylla (Fr.) {"title":"Biochemical peculiarities of Glebionis coronaria (Asteraceae)introduced in Central Polissya of Ukraine","authors":"I. Ivashchenko","doi":"10.29228/plantfungalres.47","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29228/plantfungalres.47","url":null,"abstract":"Glebionis coronaria (= Chrysanthemum coronarium; Asteraceae) is a valuable vegetable, medicinal, and ornamental plant known under vernacular names garland chrysanthemum, crown daisy, etc. This species is not cultivated in the Central Polissya area of Ukraine; therefore, it is relevant to conduct the introduction studies of this valuable and rather hardy plant species, and to study its biochemical features. The aim of the present research was to carry out a comparative biochemical analysis of plant material of two varieties of garland chrysanthemum: G. coronaria var. discolor and G. coronaria var. coronaria. The objective was to determine how the conditions of introduction can influence the amount of valuable substances in the aerial mass of plants, depending on vegetation conditions; as well as the possibility of using the plants in food industry, pharmacy, and cosmetology. The introduction studies were conducted during 2014–2016 in the experimental plots of the Botanical Garden of Zhytomyr National Agroecological University, and biochemical studies were carried out at the laboratory of the Department of Cultural Flora of the M.M.Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine. After studying the biochemical content of top biomass of G. coronaria introduced in Central Polissya of Ukraine, it has been found that the plant contains a number of valuable compounds, such as: ascorbic acid, carotene, sugars, fats, certain macro-, microelements and tannins. Plants of two varieties, G. coronaria var. discolor and var. coronaria, proved to be statistically similar as to the dry matter content, total sugars, carotenes, ascorbic acid, phosphorus, calcium, ash, tannins, fats, traces of copper, zinc, iron; the exception being manganese, the amount of which was higher in G. coronaria var. coronaria. Biochemical indices of plants changed over the years of research depending on the conditions of growing seasons. The obtained results testify to the fact that G. coronaria is a valuable introduced plant and a potentially rich source of biologically active substances necessary for human life-sustaining activity. Glebionis coronaria is a perspective vegetable plant for cultivation in the Polissya zone of Ukraine and climatically similar temperate regions for its utilization in food industry and pharmacy.","PeriodicalId":318516,"journal":{"name":"Plant & Fungal Research","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131956932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
