The Archaeological Museum of Merida was founded under the Royal Decree of 1836. Subsequently, it transformed from a small collection of local artworks into the National Museum of Roman Art, i.e., it was recognized and declared as being of national importance. On July 10, 1975, the Royal Decree was adopted to open the National Museum of Roman Art in Mérida. The latter became the first museum to receive the national status outside the Spanish capital of Madrid. Its collections and activities revolve around the Roman period, to which a permanent exhibition in a new specially designed building is dedicated. The Visigothic collection is housed in a separate building of the Santa Clara Church, for which a new exhibition space is currently being planned. The history of the museum’s collections is inseparable from the work of people who made a great contribution both to the replenishment of the funds and to the evolution of the exposition discourse. The museum has embarked on a rich research program to study and popularize Roman history and culture. By continuing as the National Center for the Study of the Roman World, it remains true to the original research task. Therefore, the National Museum of Roman Art in Mérida can be defined as the largest cultural center of all aspects of the daily life of Augusta Emerita, one of the main cities on the western border of the Roman Empire.","PeriodicalId":318171,"journal":{"name":"Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta. Idiographic presentation of phraseological units with a somatic component and detection of benchmark areas, which are interpreted by the Kuban subdialect speakers as having an anatomic focus on their body, revealed the cognitive specific character of somatisms in the Kuban phraseological units and paroemias. The obtained results prove the high level of corporeality in the world view of Kuban people. The word-building productivity of somatic vocabulary and its ability to form metaphors were demonstrated. The analysis of a whole variety of examples confirmed that the main functions of certain body parts often serve as the basis for representational apprehension of situations. The abstract reinterpretation of somatism makes it acquire a symbolic function instead of a nominative one. Specific cases illustrate certain constitutive characteristics of the dialect as a gnoseological and cultural phenomenon: pessimism, as well as parceling of cognitive objects, which are conceptualized in the dialect world view due to their importance to village residents. The most important result obtained is the detection of nation-wide and highly localized features in the implementation of the somatic code of the dialect world view of the Kuban subdialect speakers. The dialect features at the level of inner form of phraseological units were considered. Using phraseological units and paroemias, the view of the Kuban subdialect speakers on the linguistic situation in the region and the subethnical perception of Kuban Cossacks’ military routine were discussed.","PeriodicalId":318171,"journal":{"name":"Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta. The study involved 71 students of the second grade (average age 8.8 years, standard deviation 0.29) in one of the lyceums in Moscow. The children were asked to do tasks based on a battery of neuropsychological methods, including making up a story using a series of pictures “Garbage”. The results of the neuropsychological tests were used to calculate the following parameters: firstly, the index of the executive functions (3.1) and the index of serial organization (3.2); secondly, the auditory information processing index (2.2) and the left hemispheric index (L); and, thirdly, the visuospatial information processing index (2.4) and the right hemispheric index (R). According to these indices, strong and weak groups were formed 1) for executive functions, 2) for left hemisphere, and 3) for right hemisphere functions. The stories created by the children were used to analyze their speech production ability, as well as both general textual and syntactic parameters. The data obtained revealed that, depending on the level of development of executive functions, children’s stories differ in a number of parameters. The latter include general text features (semantic completeness, semantic adequacy (the presence of incompleteness and distortions), the construction of the semantic program of the story, the number of words in the story) and syntactic and grammatical features (the number of simple and complex sentences, the average sentence length, etc.).","PeriodicalId":318171,"journal":{"name":"Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta. He was not only the editor-in-chief of the Annales, but also the co-editor of the Journal of Contemporary History, which encouraged him to attempt experiences beyond the traditional scope of the Annales. Historians who published their findings in the Annales were either medieval or modern history researchers, i.e., they believed that contemporary history provides no suitable material for historical studies. Thus, M. Ferro was a pioneer of the study of the modern history of France. In addition, as a disciple of Pierre Renouwen, he actively developed the history of international relations. P. Renouwen and M. Ferro, unlike most historians of the Annales School of History, held to the critical assessment of the role of mentality in historical change. Here we discuss their approach to the study of the world of perceptions as a factor determining the dynamics of change in the world of people’s perceptions and its reflection in the changing international situation. Based on an analysis of the works of these historians, it is concluded that a shortcoming of the traditional approaches of the Annales School is the desire for universalism, which became a source of misunderstanding of many contemporary processes that the West deals with in the former colonial countries.","PeriodicalId":318171,"journal":{"name":"Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta. In the Turkish language, neither nouns nor pronouns have a grammatical category of gender. The morphological method of denoting gender is used only for a restricted number of humans, mostly high-ranking, and in some personal names. The lexical method of denoting gender is used for most human and animal names. In this method, together with the lexemes with value having no indication of gender, a lexeme characterized by the semantics dominated by the indication of gender is used. Such gender markers are also used independently and, along with the gender meaning, include a “key meaning” or have a connotation. This group of words includes some kinship terms, names of age groups, and addresses. The lexeme erkek is used for all age groups, humans and animals, thereby being “absolute”. Positive connotations are characteristic of the masculine markers erkek, adam, delikanlı, while bey, bay are neutral. The use of the feminine markers kadın, kız, dişi, bayan is limited by age, biological and social factors. Kadın has a pejorative connotation. Only names of animals that have economic importance are denoted by gender in a suppletive way. The number of such animal names is decreasing due to changes in the main method of production. The gender of other animals is marked lexically with the help of erkek and dişi. The results of this study are important for typological research and help to prevent communication errors.","PeriodicalId":318171,"journal":{"name":"Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta. The name Plyushkin is widely used to refer to a certain character trait and appearance. It was invented by N.V. Gogol in his poem “Dead Souls” (‘Mertvye Dushi’). The contexts in which the Russian national linguocultural community commonly uses the name Plyushkin were analyzed: it was revealed that most Russians associate this name with stinginess and overstocking; therefore, these two features constitute the core perception zone of the name. Particular attention was paid to the peripheral perception zone of this name, which includes individual attitudes to Plyushkin that influence the way the overall context of the text where it appears is perceived by the recipient. In the peripheral perception zone, the name Plyushkin turned out to have a positive connotation (as a tragic character) in some contexts in addition to the negative one. The importance of studying the distinctive features of precedent names in order to avoid misinterpretation of semantic augments within recipient texts was emphasized.","PeriodicalId":318171,"journal":{"name":"Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta. The main tasks were to compare the basic norms of the international law on human rights with the constitutional provisions of Russia, to define human rights as a practical factor and moral value influencing the social progress, to analyze the recent trends in the evolution of the international law on human rights and their impact on the Russian legal policy. The constitutional obligation of the Russian state is to observe and strengthen the rights of every human. Notably, Russia has initiated the development of the international system of human rights. It actively participates in drafting and concluding of many international and regional agreements on human rights, thereby maintaining its strong reputation for acting at the global level. The number of international treaties on human rights ratified by Russia is four times higher than it is on average in the world. However, a recently registered lag in the public awareness of new progressive standards in the field of human rights and freedoms developed at the universal and regional levels may negatively affect both the reputation and practical affairs. Russia needs to constantly monitor the existing international trends in the field of human rights and to adjust them to its domestic legislation and practice, as well as to timely participate in the most relevant international treaties and mechanisms.","PeriodicalId":318171,"journal":{"name":"Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta. The scope of his studies was analyzed, and the results obtained reveal that he was mostly focused on the life and work of Ľudovít Štúr, the founding father of the Slovak nation, and on the Slovak–Russian relations in the spheres of science and culture during the 19th century. Based on the historiographic sources and ego-documents, the main stages in the formation of V. Matula’s worldview as a researcher and his contribution to the historical science in Slovakia were considered. Special attention was paid to V. Matula’s role in the organization of international scientific congresses and the institutionalization of inter-Slavic contacts. The conclusion was made that V. Matula’s research findings and his impact on the development and strengthening of the Slovak–Russian relations in science and culture have been poorly addressed in both Russian and Slovak historiography.","PeriodicalId":318171,"journal":{"name":"Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta.
