Jilabi","doi":"10.32852/IQJFMME.V18I3.184","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32852/IQJFMME.V18I3.184","url":null,"abstract":"Low alloy steels are particularly used in manufacturing several parts in the heavyengineering industries, agricultural equipment and dies which may be subject to servicefailure, and thus may need to be repaired by one of the welding processes. The weldabilityof steels is determined by their sensitivity to cracks that can be prevented by the use ofspecial welding procedures which are often expensive and difficult to use. Manual metal arcwelding of low alloy high strength steels was done firstly, using a cheap electrode (OK46.00), followed by the use of an economical technique which depends on coiling copperwires with different diameters around the cheap electrode. The expensive electrode (OK73.68) was also used for comparison. Results showed an increase in the tensile strength (712MPa) and weld joint efficiency (83.8%) when the expensive iron powder low hydrogencovering electrode (OK 73.68) was used. On the other hand, the tensile strength wasdecreased to (206 MPa) and the weld joint efficiency to (24.2%) when the cheap electrode(OK 46.00) was used. This paper investigate a comparison work betweenimpinging jet, displacement, and mixing ventilation systems for an isothermal and nonisothermalventilated room for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and thermal human comfort underIraqi climate. For IJV system, draught discomfort is the issue of most concern since itsupplies cooled air directly to the occupied zone. This study investigated a number of factorsinfluencing draught discomfort and temperature stratification in an office environment. Theconsidered factors, supply airflow rate and supply air temperature. RNG K-? turbulencemodel was used with the turbulent flow. The second aspect included numerical analyses byadopting ANSYS FLUENT15 code to generate simulation models. A square shaped airsupply device was used with [0.1 times room height (h)] outlet terminal height from the footlevel end. The IJV system proved more efficient than displacement and mixing ventilationsystems. A nonlinear dynamic model of the inverted-pendulums fixed on a cart,based on CAD model is developed. The Lagrange equation is used to obtain the nonlineardynamic models of the system. The dynamic model is then linearized around operatingpoint. An augmented dynamic model using the linearized model is also derived. Two controlapproaches are used to stabilize the pendulums in vertical position. First approach: StateFeedback Control based on the linearized model is used to generate the input force control tostabilize the system. Second approach: Model Predictive Control is designed based onaugmented dynamic Model to control the motion of the system. In order to verify thedeveloped model and the chosen controller gains several simulations for different carts’paths are carried out. Several 3D animations are also presented to verify the usefulness ofthe designed CAD model and the controllers. As a future work: the 3D model of the tripleinverted-pendulum system gives a valuable resource for virtual reality work. This research aims to study theability of applying Friction Stir Processing (FSP) to modify the surface of high densitypolyethylene (HDPE) reinforcing by B4C with a particle size of 0.4?m, Groove in themiddle of HDPE surface made to fill by B4C. Varity in the groove depth (0.6, 1.2 and1.8)mm used according to B4C ratio on HDPE substrate particles. Friction stir process wascarried out, using tool with cylindrical shape of pin and shoe tool to produce surface layercomposite. The effect of processing parameters including rotational and transverse speeds onthe mechanical properties of composite layer was studied. Wear test results show apronounced improvement in wear resistance of HDPE surface through reinforcementadditions of B4C at a ratio (5%, 10% and 15% ), where wear rate improved by (60%, 71%and 63%) respectively, as compared with as received HDPE, the surface compositeHDPE/B4C have good wear resistance. Hardness test results indicate that the hardness ofcomposite layer reinforced with (5%,10% and 15%) particles improved by( 26%, 35% and28% )respectively as compared with received HDPE. Experiments were conducted on the chimney installed on vertical wall withabsorber plate placed at the front side of the air gap. The solar chimney attached to room ofdimensions (2.5×1.29×1.07) m. The chimney is studied to measure the effect of the air gapwidth with constant height of (1.07 m). Three widths are tested, namely, 0.2 m, 0.3 m and0.4 m. The experimental results showed that the solar chimney can achieve about (13 °C)difference in temperature between indoor and outdoor as well as it gives acceptabledifference in partial cloudy days. The objective of this study is to analysis the distributionof porosity, hardness and fracture toughness on the deposited coatings. Under optimumplasma spraying conditions, it is dangerous to consider the mean values of hardness andfracture toughness. The distributions of hardness and fracture toughness are highlyscattered. Throbbed GTAW on the sheet having dimension of (200* 100*5mm) is implemented at variable pulse current (150, 160, 170, 190) and constant frequencyto get numerous connected joints by electrode type\" ER4043 (Al Si5) as a padding metallicand argon as protective gas and compared with base current GTAW welding at D C currentat 90 amps. The welded pieces are examined by X-ray radiography. The welded joints weretreated by heat, the joints heated for half an hour in the furnace to 150 C° then cooled in theair to release the residual stresses. Mechanical quality of the weld joints. Microstructuralcategorizations, Micro hardness, enduring stress are examined. Consequences exposed thata common decline of mechanical properties of TIG welded joints conveyed 34% analogieswith parent metal while the PGTAW joined offers better mechanical qualities analogy withof TIG joined in reductions conveyed 8.4% analogies with original metal this is because ofthe microstructure variations through the joining method and compressive residual stressgeneration in the weld zones. Twenty cases are studied inclusive stiffeners in longitudinal and ringstiffeners. Buckling mode shape is evaluated. This paper studied the optimum designgenerated by ANSYS for thick cylinder with external hydrostatic pressure. The primarygoal of this paper was to identify the improvement in the design of cylindrical shell underhydrostatic pressure with and without Stiffeners (longitudinal and ring) with incorporativetechnique of an optimization into ANSYS software. The design elements in this researchwas: critical load, design variable (thickness of shell (TH), stiffener’s width (B) andstiffener’s height (HF). The results obtained illustrated that the objective is minimizedusing technique of numerical optimization in ANSYS with optimum shell thickness andstiffener’s sizes. In all cases the design variables (thickness of shell) was thicker than themonocoque due to a shell’s thicker is essential to achieve the strength constraints. Two groups of nanocomposites were prepared by Hand Lay-up method. The firstgroup consists from (UP) reinforced by hybrid nanoparticles consisting of a mixture ofzirconium oxide and yttrium oxide (30 mol%Y2O3- ZrO2) with particles size (83.98nm). Thesecond group consists of (UP) reinforced by zirconia nanoparticles (ZrO2) with particle size(47.23nm). The effect of volume fraction (0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, 2.5%, 3%) of thenanoparticles additives on some mechanical properties of composites materials was studiedalso. The results shown that the values of the flexural modulus, impact strength and fracturetoughness increased, as the volume fraction ratio of the nanoparticle increased for bothgroups of nanocomposites, while flexural strength values decreased with the increased thevolume fraction ratio of the nanoparticles for both groups of nanocomposites also. As wellas, the unsaturated polyester resins reinforced by hybrid nanoparticles has higher mechanicalproperties as compared with their counterparts of composites reinforced by zirconiananoparticles only.
