Currently, edible flowers are becoming a trend in the floricultural business, besides ornamental flowers. The problem with fresh edible flower agribusiness is that the quality quickly declines, so the market is limited. Transpiration and respiration are one of the causes of fresh flowers being easily damaged. The proper coating will reduce transpiration and respiration and even microbial damage. Carnations are one of the most popular flowers because of their exotic colors. This study aimed to increase the shelf life of carnations as fresh edible flowers with coating technology. The coating materials studied were carrageenan with a concentration of 0.5% and 0.1% and chitosan with a concentration of 0.1% and 0.05%. Quality parameters measured were water content, weight loss, and color. The hedonic test is carried out to determine the limits of consumer acceptance of the quality of edible flowers. The results showed that the best treatment was coating with 0.1% chitosan solution (Q1). This treatment maintained water content, weight loss, and color (L and °hue values) for up to 6 days of storage, with panelists receiving a score of 3 (hedonic 0-5). Increasing the shelf life by three days longer than the control will increase the market reach so that the edible flower agribusiness market can be expanded. The more phenolic compounds extracted, the better the quality of the extract obtained. To obtain maximum total phenol levels, extraction treatment was carried out with variations in time, temperature, and solvent concentration to extract fragrant Citronella leaves. This study aimed to determine the right time, temperature, and solvent concentration to obtain citronella extract with maximum total phenol content. Extraction was carried out by water distillation technique using ethanol solvent with concentration variations of 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, and 90% with time variations of 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours, 10 hours, and temperature variations extraction, namely 50, 60, 70, and 80oC, The total phenol content of citronella extract was analyzed using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer based on the reduction reaction of the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent. The results showed that the extract with the highest total phenol content was 7.075 with a time of 4 hours, a temperature of 80 C, and using a solvent concentration of 90%. Characteristics produced from citronella extract with the highest phenol content, namely total flavonoids at 41.75 mgQE/g, antioxidant activity at 11.242 ppm, antibacterial activity at E. coli is 10.2 mm and in S. aureus is 12.7 mm. In order to be competitive, the local-brand mineral water industry must make various efficiency efforts to reduce production costs, including by planning short product distribution channels. CV. XYZ is a mineral water distributor company in Jember Regency which is also required to make efficient product distribution routes. The purpose of this research is to optimize to determine the shortest distribution route in order to save on the cost of distributing mineral water products. The method used is the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP), namely the Nearest Neighbor and Cheapest Insertion Heuristic (CIH) methods. The two methods differ only in the exploration program, where Nearest Neighbor explores from any adjacent point, while CIH explores from a certain point and then traces through sub tours to find the shortest route. Based on the survey results, the distribution route currently covers the longest distance of 106.1 km. With the Nearest Neighbor method, the route can be shortened to 72.34 km with a distance saving percentage of 31.82% from the initial route. Meanwhile, the Cheapest Insertion Heuristic (CIH) method produces a total distance of 72.14 km with a distance saving percentage of 32.01%. Fuel savings with the first method of Rp. 1,043,184 while the second method is Rp. 1,049,376. Due to fossil fuel shortage, coconut shell waste has been advantaged as an energy source to replace the fossil energy. A pyrolysis technique has been used to crack coconut shell waste into charcoal or solid biochar. An MLR (Multiple Linear Regression) analysis and Lagrange polynomial interpolation has been applied to the pyrolysis process related to pyrolysis temperature and time-affected charcoal characteristics. This type of analysis often used for process optimization. The charcoal characteristics are investigated in terms of their yield, water content, ash content, volatile matter, and calorific value. The experimental result shows that the highest calorific value (≈ 7750 cal/g) was obtained at 450oC and 3h with charcoal characteristics: 2.75% water content, 2.70% ash content, and 9.50% volatile matter that meets the SNI requirements. The MLR analysis has justified that the effect of pyrolysis temperature is more dominant than pyrolysis time on almost all charcoal characteristics. The Lagrange polynomial interpolation shows the highest calorific value (≈ 7784 cal/g) obtained at 500oC and 3h. One of the product diversifications made from the bilimbi is a jam. Making bilimbi jam by mixing fruit fiber and sugar and then cooking it for 5 minutes. Nowadays, fruit jams with various flavor variants are liked by people from various circles, so the bilimbi jam has an excellent opportunity to be developed. This study aimed to determine the effect of the number of ingredients and the amount of sugar on the physicochemical properties of bilimbi jam, and,: to determine the optimal composition of raw materials using response surface methodology (RSM). Optimization using response surface methodology is able to get the best treatment combination effectively. The analysis of the physicochemical properties of bilimbi jam included pH, total dissolved solids, water content, vitamin C, greasing power, chroma color, and hue. The raw material composition for making bilimbi jam is the amount of bilimbi (X₁) of 659 g and the amount of sugar (X₂) of 137 g. Gelatin has been used for coatings because it has high permeability and dissolves in warm conditions, so the matrix cross-links are strong. The red snapper fillet processing industry produces 11.2-15% of waste, such as bone which has not been utilized optimally. The objective of this study was to determine the characterization of red snapper bone gelatin as a source of halal gelatin and measure its ability as a coating material for β-carotene pigment microencapsulation. Results showed the characteristics of red snapper bone gelatin with a yield of 10.71%, water content of 9.63%, protein content of 34.06%, ash content of 7.62%, gelatin fat content of 0.28%, and color intensity (L: 62.6). ; a+: 13.3 and b+: 30). The obtained halal gelatin was applied as a coating material for β-carotene pigment microencapsulation through the foam-mat method. Generally, the utilization of natural canna starch is still limited, whereas canna starch has disadvantages including large granule size, high viscosity level, low swelling power level, high retrogradation rate, not resistance to high pH, and pressure. Modification of cross-linking can improve to be resistant to mechanical stress and acid. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimization of cross-linking modification with sodium acetate on the bulk density and the ability of starch to absorb oil and water. This research uses Response Surface Methodology with Central Composite Design (CCD) model. With a factor of sodium acetate concentration and mixing time. Analysis of the research carried out are bulk density, OBC, and WBC. Modification of canna starch by cross-linking affects the starch produced, the presence of cross-linking in starch can strengthen the starch granules so that the starch granules are not easily gelatinized. The optimum condition bulk density was obtained from sodium acetate concentration of 25.1282% and mixing time of 34.1421 minutes with a bulk density of 0.626 g/cm3. In contrast to the optimum conditions for OBC obtained from sodium acetate 13.64% with a long mixing time of 33.57 minutes, the optimum conditions for measuring water absorption are 5.90%. Fermented fish products often involve lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in the production process, but scientific studies on indigenous microorganisms, including LAB, have not been reported. This study aims to characterize and identify LAB originating from depik belacan, especially those with proteolytic activity. This research is exploratory laboratory research, consisting of making depik belacan, isolation and characterization of LAB, proteolytic LAB screening, and molecular identification of LAB. Three pure isolates suspected of LAB were obtained with different colonies, namely B1, B2, and B3. The three isolates had varied morphological and biochemical characteristics. Only two isolates were confirmed as LAB with positive and negative catalase and Gram test results. Of the two LAB isolates, only isolate (B1) was able to break down protein, so this isolate was a potential starter in the depik fish fermentation. Isolate B1 was identified molecularly as Enterococcus faecium strain DT-2 with a homology of 98.18% and Query Cover 100%. In addition, Pisang shrimp is also an endemic shrimp species in Aceh, so research data related to its use as chitosan is still very limited. Isolation chitin compound by using 2 stages. The stages are demineralization and deproteination. The demineralization with 1 N HCl solution, ratio (1:12) w/v for 120 hours, and then the second demineralization reaction with 1 N HCl (1:5) w/v for 20 hours. deproteinization reaction used 3 N NaOH solution (1:10) w/v, at 90 ºC for 1 hour with 50 rpm. Reaction transformation chitin into chitosan using NaOH 50 % (1:10) w/v, at 120ºC, for 10 hours with 1000 rpm. Pisang shrimp shells that used as raw material were milled to uniform size of the sifted flour using a sieve of 100 mesh sieve. Pisang shrimp shells flour has characterized, water content 0.75 %; ash content 32.48 %; fat 2.12 % and N-total 34,13 %. Currently, its potential is still not optimized. To support sustainable and competitive agricultural development and the sustainability of the industry in running a business, professional and efficient business plans and strategies are needed to achieve the business targets that have been set. This study aims to 1) analyze the business model run by PT XYZ, 2) analyze the internal and external conditions of PT XYZ, and 3) formulate an improvement plan for the business model of PT XYZ. The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through field observations, in-depth interviews with informants (purposive sampling), and distributing questionnaires. In contrast, secondary data came from various kinds of literature, both from books and the internet, regarding the results of data publications from relevant institutions and agencies relevant to the research. The method of analysis with research objectives are Business Model Canvas (BMC), SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat) analysis, and qualitative and quantitative descriptive. The results of the Business Model (BMC) mapping at PT XYZ show that there is still a need for changes in business strategy because there are still potential customer segments to be developed.
