Such media are more general than the ordinary isotropic dielectric and magnetic media because they can couple electric and magnetic polarizations. Bi-isotropic media have interesting possible applications and the main problem today lies in the fabrication, which has not yet reached an industrial level. The model is directly constructed from measured small-signal s-parameters and DC characteristic curves of the device without complicated parameter extraction procedures. Separate determination of device parasitics is not necessary. The model is self-consistent, very general and device-and technology-independent. The combined Orbiter-Probe spacecraft will reach the Saturn system about 8.5 years after the launch. At that time the Probe will be separated and its mission will start transmitting scientific and housekeeping data during the descent phase to the surface of Titan via S-band radio relay link. The Probe Data Relay Link is composed by the Probe Transmitter Terminal (PTT), on Huygens spacecraft, and the Orbiter Receiving Terminal (ORT), on Cassini spacecraft. The PTT includes two chains which tranrsmit the phase modulated carriers at two different frequencies with opposite circular polarizations. On the orbiter the two signals are discriminated and separately amplified by the LNAs. The receivers acquire and synchronize the carter and subcarrier and provide the data demodulation and decoding. The primary objective of this test is to evaluate the performances of thcsc fading countermeasurements in order to give the opportunity to compare them each other. Specal attention has been dedicated to the role of elevation position of the dual beam antenna and the angular separation of the two beam. The main problems are the tight surface accuracy requirements for the reflector, and therefore the high manufacturing costs. These problems can be overcome by the use of a new hologram type of compact range, in which a planar hologram structure is used as a collimating element.
