The focus of this research is to analyze how the mass media depicts environmental and sustainability issues, as well as how public perceptions are formed through media exposure. A qualitative approach was used by interviewing respondents representing various levels of society in North Sumatra, while mass media content analysis was used to look at the representation of environmental and sustainability issues in the media. The research results show that mass media has a significant role in shaping public perceptions of environmental and sustainability issues in North Sumatra. Research finds that the mass media tends to provide limited coverage of environmental issues, focusing on controversial events or cases. This results in broader environmental problems, such as climate change, forest degradation and energy sustainability, not receiving enough attention in media coverage. The novelty obtained from this research is that sensationalism, consumer interests, limited resources, and the influence of personal interests are factors that can influence mass media reporting on environmental issues in North Sumatra. As a region that has abundant natural resources, good utilization of regional potential is a prerequisite for accelerating development in the region both from an economic and other aspect. The aim of this research is to find out whether protecting the rights of clove farmers in clove cultivation agreements is very important, because there is inequality in making agreements, where farmers who need money are easily dictated to by buyers. This research uses normative juridical methods and surveys in several villages in North Sulawesi. The social theory used in this research is Behavioral Sociology, which is a science that seeks to apply the principles of behaviorism starting from psychological theory to sociological problems. The research results show that there is no maximum protection for the rights of the farming community, especially in bond agreements, there are no special regulations such as regional regulations that regulate and provide sanctions for buyers who harm farmers, where the practice is still based on agreements. There is an urgent need for oversight by local governments of bond practices and agreements, as well as firm action against purchasers. The conclusion of this research is that regional head regulations regarding clove fishing need to be immediately established so that regional governments have a legal basis for carrying out enforcement and supervision. The novelty of this research is the need to improve the supervision system for bonded laborers by village and district governments with the existence of a bonded labor recording system which is expected to provide legal certainty in engagement agreements. Supervision also includes taking action against parties who intentionally harm farmers in unilateral agreements that harm farmers.","PeriodicalId":31651,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmu Sosial Mamangan","volume":"17 15","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138624439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aims to design a change management model for organizational performance at government institution XYZ in an era of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA). The social theory used in this research is Marxian theory, the name for several theoretical explanations inspired by Karl Marx. The emphasis in Marxian theory is that old assumptions such as the opposition of two large classes, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, inspire explanations of modern phenomena. Research data was obtained by filling out an online questionnaire by 207 employees of the XYZ government agency. The sampling method used was purposive sampling. The variables used in this research are coordination, strategic planning, change management, and organizational performance. The influence of coordination, strategic planning and change management variables on organizational performance will be modeled using a structural equation model. The results show that there is a positive influence of coordination, strategic planning and change management variables on organizational performance. Change management variables are proven to fully mediate the influence of coordination and strategic planning on organizational performance. Its effectiveness can be seen from coordination and strategic planning which cannot significantly influence organizational performance without the mediating variable of change management. The findings of this paper have academic, managerial, and policy implications that can provide a theoretical foundation for future research in measuring and managing organizational sustainability performance and contribute to knowledge in the field of performance measurement.","PeriodicalId":31651,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmu Sosial Mamangan","volume":"16 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139211232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The possibilities that technology offers allow the world to be in a single whole. Globalization is a reality in our daily lives that can be found easily. Globalization is related to economics, technology, and politics. This paper tries to see this relationship with an emphasis on technology. It is the development of technology that has enabled globalization to change the world and all the relationships in it as they are today. Globalization goes well with the liberal political system and the capitalist economic system. This last thing finally makes globalization as an effort to expand the market or in other words globalization becomes a weapon for capitalism to stick and then stick its nails deeper and deeper in the world. Thus, globalization then turns technology, which initially helped create globalization, to turn into \"mere\" commodities for humans. However, this paper still sees the possibility of changing technology from a commodity to a right for all citizens of the world. Coclusion, when technology is utilized as capital within the framework of capitalism, any new possibilities constantly offered by technology incarnate as new commodities. The novelty of this research is that resistance to IPR can be used as a small example of efforts to fight capitalism which makes technology a commodity creation system.","PeriodicalId":31651,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmu Sosial Mamangan","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139219314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lefebvre's theory is use to describe the struggle for space as a cause of conflict and Benda-Beckmann's theory to explain behavior in using conflict resolution forums. Through a qualitative approach and data analysis based on primary and secondary sources, this research evaluates the effectiveness of conflict resolution methods adopted by the City Government and seeks alternative solutions through external forums such as the DPRD, Ombudsman and Komnas HAM. The results show that conflict resolution and regulatory enforcement carried out by the City Government are not optimal, triggering conflict escalation. This has not yet reached a resolution, but external forums such as the DPRD, Ombudsman and Komnas HAM play an important role in supervising the implementation of regulations by the City Government and encouraging conflict resolution. Apart from that, this research also found that even though the cancellation or substantive changes to the rules have not been made, this external forum plays an important role in ensuring the safety of trading in the market. This shows that resolving space conflicts does not only involve changing rules, but also monitoring the implementation of existing rules. In terms of implementation, the results can be a recommendation for city governments to involve external forums in resolving spatial conflicts, especially in traditional markets. The results can also be a reference for other researchers who are interested in studying spatial conflict in a similar context. The novelty of this research lies in the discovery of the importance of external forums in monitoring the implementation of policies and conflict resolution mechanisms by city governments, something that has not been found in many previous studies examining spatial conflicts in traditional markets.","PeriodicalId":31651,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmu Sosial Mamangan","volume":"45 6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139282531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
