Many studies have found that the Salafi ideology contains an exclusive and harsh doctrine of Wahhabism. This article examines the Salafi madrasas which was initially exclusive, rigid, conservative, and anti-state symbols, then transformed into a formal Islamic school that is modern and professional in management, as well as integrating the national education curriculum with Islamic curriculum (diniyyah/boarding school) as a strategy to gain state recognition. Although it is not carried out in all Islamic educational institutions it manages, the transformation of the Salafi madrasas is intended to remove the suspicions of the people who consider them terrorist and extremist group. Therefore, this article also explains the Salafi typology which is divided into two based on the movement model, namely the Ideological Salafi (Purification) and the Jihadist Salafi. Through the multicultural education approach that was written by Bikhu Parekh, this research suggests the implications of the ideas of salafism that are disseminated to the multicultural Indonesian society. This research finds that the Salafi campaign in Indonesia has not completely failed. Salafi madrasas have succeeded in transforming through curriculum integration which aims to reject public suspicion that they are terrorist organizations, in fact this strategy actually attracts upper-middle class people to send their children to Salafi madrasas. This study reveals the Moslemss tradition among migrants from Central Java in Waihatu, Maluku. The approach of this research is qualitative with the type of research is netnography. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation, observation and virtual interviews. The subject of this research is the young generation of Javanese Moslemss who are vulnerable to being contaminated by radicalism and extremism and or the essence of Javanese culture. The results of this study are the village slametan ritual in Wahatu is a manifestation of society and its cultural movement. Even though the culture became vacuum due to the disconnection of local wisdom between generations, and was inundated by obstacles due to the local socio-political situation, the event was then revitalized. After being revitalized, the village slametan ritual emerged with its new nuances related to the narrative of an imaginary pilgrimage that was held through spatial and current deterritorialization without Kejawen dimensions and pluralism. The slametan ritual performed by migrantsMoslemss in the village in Waihatu, Maluku, includes; 1) Pendem wedhus kendit; 2) Kungkum; and 3) Cultural carnival. This celebration is the only narrative of going home and as a spiritual theater for Moslemss immigrants. It aims to complement the limitation of current studies, which emphasize conflict as a struggle for natural resources, a means for regional identity, and an effort to develop central-regional power relations. However, the conflict also generates the shift of religious authority, in particular, from modernist Islam to traditional Islam. Data were collected from literature and other related secondary sources. This study found that religious contestations, between the modernist and the traditional Islam groups, have begun in the early 20th century. It used to be a space for religious discourse; hence, it turned into a protracted social and armed conflict. It began with a social revolution, which led the modernist scholars in charge. Nevertheless, the involvement of the modernist ulama in the Darul Islam rebellion affected their influence. The shift in authority began to emerge by the raising of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) rebellion. During post-Darul Islam, traditional ulama occupied rural communities, and they confronted the GAM in society, as they were involved in bureaucracy. It also took place in Ponorogo during the Dutch colonialization in 1885. Indonesian people protested by looting the Dutch Kontroleur Coffee warehouse due to the policy of forced planting and tax tightening. The action is known as Kampak Patik or Patik Robbery. The Dutch Kontroleur deliberately disseminated this negative stigma to impress as criminal behavior against the law. This paper conducts historical defense attempts by examining the value of Patriotism and heroism in the Kampak Patik event. The researchers use three stages of research, namely revealing the background of events, the action events, and the final solution of the action in the form of patriotism values. The approach of this paper is socio-historical with local document data sources (babad), books, and historical data. This paper concludes first, the Dutch policy of forced cultivation and tax tightening had impoverished the citizens in plantations area. Second, the protest was carried out by community leaders, including patih Ponorogo regency, lurah, carik, village staff, and members of Patik village community. Third, there is the value of patriotism, namely the defense of the small people, selfless struggle, sacrifice, and the nature of chivalry. Roland Barthes is a thinker who has great attention to the study of semiotics, including in this context, by seeing a text as a sign system. The constructive relationship that is built between the sign, the signifier, and the signified as described by Roland Barthes in his semiotic thinking requires the reader to be active in dialectic with writers who write literary works so that the denotative meaning of an Arabic literary work can metamorphose into a connotative meaning. In its practical framework, Arabic literary works in various forms such as poetry, prose, and others are full of depictions of women and their social roles that must be approached with semiotic studies so that moral messages are found oriented to gender equality for men and women.
