In such networks, designing a energy efficient routing topology is of main concern. For this purpose, we propose CEMob, Critical data transmission in Emergency with Mobility support in WBANs, as a routing layer protocol. CEMob avoid continuous transmission of information, thereby, preserving nodes' energy. Simulation results of CEMob are compared with that of contemporary routing protocols i.e. ATTEMPT and REATTEMPT. Comparison justify that CEMob has reduced energy consumption and is more efficient than the compared protocols.","PeriodicalId":316052,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127841298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mobile users often either overpay for service availability such as (3G or LTE) or suffer incapability of accessing Internet services due to limited hardware resources (3G or LTE) or exhaustion of carrier enforced data plans. In this paper we introduce Collab Assure, an auction based, ad-hoc market model assuring service for users with no Internet access capability. Collab Assure framework provides service assurance through opportunistic ad-hoc networks formed by spatio-temporally co-existing mobile users. The system allows users to \"sublet\" their surplus data plans to the users without Internet access. We discuss the design and implementation of Collab Assure technology in Android framework. Our simulation results advocate the success of this approach on real world traces, where mobile users need to participate in auctions for achieving on-demand and low-cost data service.","PeriodicalId":316052,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications","volume":"245 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134472319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cognitive radio is a potential candidate for resource management because of its capability to satisfy the growing wireless demand and improve network efficiency. Decision-making is the main function of the radio resources management process as it determines the radio parameters that control the use of these resources. In this paper, we propose an adaptive decision-making scheme (ADMS) for radio resources management of different types of network applications including: power consuming, emergency, multimedia, and spectrum sharing. ADMS exploits genetic algorithm (GA) as an optimization tool for decision-making. It consists of the several objective functions for the decision-making process such as minimizing power consumption, packet error rate (PER), delay, and interference. On the other hand, maximizing throughput and spectral efficiency. Simulation results and test bed evaluation demonstrate ADMS functionality and efficiency.","PeriodicalId":316052,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131859093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, in WSNs, the bad usage of the energy shortens the operation time of sensors and consequently the network lifetime. In this work, we propose a fuzzy-based simulation system for WSNs, in order to calculate the lifetime of a sensor by considering the remaining battery power, sleep time rate and transmission time rate. We evaluate the system by MATLAB simulations and show that it has a good behaviour for measuring sensor lifetime.","PeriodicalId":316052,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116160451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The CR constant jammers prey on the adaptable functionalities of CRN so as to cause serious denial of service to the users of the network. In addition, these jammers are capable of introducing value faults in pathological cases as a result of being able to manipulate transmitted data. In previous research, we have investigated the performance of CRNs operating in the presence of jamming attacks that are capable of introducing value faults. The results obtained show that CR constant jammers are very effective in their operations and they are capable of bringing down the entire CRN when their jamming rate is just about 30%. In this paper, we show that none of the existing anti-jamming solutions are able to mitigate CR jammers that are capable of manipulating communicated data. As a result, we propose a hybrid forward error correction (FEC) code that incorporates data integrity checking into an efficient forward error correction mechanism. The approach uses data redundancy to remove the need for retransmission of lost or detected manipulated data caused by jamming attacks by exploring the recovery block component of the proposed solution. We present the algorithm for our proposed solution and evaluate its performance through simulation. The result of our analysis using suitable performance metrics shows that the solution is very efficient and robust against the different rates of jamming perpetrated by constant jammers.","PeriodicalId":316052,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications","volume":"811 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120875042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are many simulation tools available for Wi-Fi simulation, but few are widely used, and some are not designed specifically with wireless in mind. In this paper, the NS3 environment is recognized as a promising tool for which for this type of work. Limitations in certain simulation scenarios are identified with respect to the existing NS3 wireless modules. A novel NS3 simulation module is proposed, which provides support for multi-channel Wi-Fi AP selection, so that user devices may scan several non-interfering channels and select the best AP according to IEEE 802.11 criteria. In the recent years, there is substantial growth of ontology utilization and development in different application domains that requires standardization and semantic interoperability. The increasing number in ontology development leads to overlapping in domain ontologies. Our approach called CODE (Common Ontology Development) is created to address the need for knowledge integration and reuse from distributed knowledge across multiple underlying ontologies. CODE is fully automated and it is a complete framework that aims to preserve source ontology knowledge. It uses natural language processing and scenario-based rules to ensure the accuracy of the integration mechanism. In addition, CODE can be used to merge more than two ontologies at the same time. To evaluate knowledge preservation and correctness in the proposed approach, SPARQL queries are used on the new integrated ontology and the results are verified against the source ontologies.","PeriodicalId":316052,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128365160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the design and implementation of a power preserving mobile broadcast system. The broadcast system is designed to serve transitive queries or queries that access related data items belonging to different tables in the relational databases. The focus of this paper is revolved around the implementation of three specific data broadcast schemes, namely: (i) a filtering technique for mobile device to perform transitive queries and display the desired data from incoming multiple entity types broadcast data items, (ii) the index broadcast scheme to predict the arrival of the desired data so that power utilization can be minimized, and (iii) multiple channel environments to allow mobile device to tune into multiple broadcast channels to receive the desired data. We showcase the efficacy of these data broadcast schemes through the development of the prototype system with a share indices price application.","PeriodicalId":316052,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132486491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are issues for achieving the network connectivity and user coverage, which are related with the node placement problem. We implemented a simulation system where we consider the router node placement problem in WMNs. We want to find the optimal distribution of router nodes in order to provide the best network connectivity and provide the best coverage in a set of randomly distributed clients. We modeled 3 different realistic distribution of mesh clients (Subway, Boulevard and Stadium models). From simulation results, we found that, in the case of Subway model distribution of mesh clients, connectivity and coverage reach maximum performance. For all 3 models, when the instance size increases, the performance decreases.","PeriodicalId":316052,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130397694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
